Last night I updaite my 3GS to iOS 5 and as you know I lose all my data information such as my photo video an the most important contact list . I had back up of that information in my last iTunes 10.5 but it says me "ENTER THE PASSWORD FOR UNLOCK THE iPHONE'' . I don't know what pasword it want . Can someone help me ? I seriously I need my data .

La password richiesta non è altro che la password di accesso del vostro pc. Lasciate perdere quella user dell'id apple ecc io ho fatto mille tentativi. Appena immessa la password della macchina il ripristino è partito correttamente ed ora il mio iphone 4 funziona di nuovo!

The request password is the same of your laptop or pc. dont'try the password of your id Apple account or other i have tried a thousand time but nothing! just write the pc password the restore, it's correctly start, and now my Iphone 4 it's ready for use! sorry for my english!

You may have an encrypted backup. If you don't know the password, your data may be lost on that backup.
But, there is another way.
If you have multiple backups, shift-click restore from backup, and I believe you should get a menu listing your backups, I hope this helps you.
You can try certain other backups and such to restore too, they may or may not be encrypted, if they are, then I suppose you're out of luck.
If you find one of your backups that does not have encryption, you're good to go until you remember or retrieve your password.
In this case, is this a lost or stolen iPhone? Counterfeit, brought off eBay, etc?
If so then I cannot help you on that, nobody can.
If you have a passcode lock set on your iPhone, unlock it first (to tell iTunes that you own the phone of course) then disconnect and reconnect if necessary.
But like I said, if it's not your iPhone then we cannot help you. Sorry. -

In your case your only solution is to restore it ( see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 ) and you may need to force it into restore mode to do that. This will wipe everything off it and reset it as new, without the passcode. You can then redownload purchased content, buy unless you have a sync'd copy of your contacts and photo's they will be gone.

There is no default password for an encrypted backup. That is a password that the user sets up. Only you will know what password you used.You would have set up the password. If you don't know what the password is for the backup, you will not be able to restore from that backup.

I installed XE on Linux and it's created under 'oracle' user, but I don't know 'oracle' password. So, I cannot stop TNS listener.
During configuration, it prompted me to enter SYS and SYSADMIN password but it didn't ask me to enter 'oracle' user password.
Please let me know or point me to the document.

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't work unfortunately.
When I type (sudo su -oracle) as follows, it still prompts the password. When I hit Enter key w/o anything, it seems to proceed and the prompt shows up in the following line. So, I thought it was successful, but when I checked 'whoami', it's not logged in as 'oracle'.
So, I created the password for 'oracle' and logged in as 'oracle' using a new password. Then, I stopped TNS listener to uninstall XE.
It would be nice if it's documented in XE document somewhere... since it's created by XE installation, I assumed some kind of default password was used.

After forgetting the password for my iPhone, I am trying to restore it through iTunes, however, during the process, the phone keeps turning on and asking for the password, thus canceling the process. Any advice?
Yes, you will still get the prompt.
I meant reset then try the recovery mode restore again.
You can also try DFU Mode.
DFU (Device Firmware Update) Mode is different than Recovery Mode.
DFU Mode is a special mode where the device can still interface with iTunes, yet it does not load the iBoot bootloader.
DFU Mode:
Plug your device into your computer.
Turn off the device.
Hold the Power button for 3 seconds
Hold the Home button without releasing the Power button for 10 seconds
Release the Power Button but keep holding the Home button
Keep holding the Home button until you are alerted by iTunes saying that it has detected a device in Recovery Mode
NOTE: Make sure the device screen is blank and no logos are present. Be patient, it make take several trys. -

my husband has a iphone 4 and i've been trying to connect it to our Garmin GPS through bluetooth. Now both devices recognize it but once a call is made or received, nothing goes through the GPS. I've had it working before but it was before a couple of upgrades. It is currently on ios7.2 upgrade. Is that why it won't work?
