What is the photo library volume

what is the photo library volume

It sounds like it is telling you that you don't have enough free space on the hard disk drive where your Photos Library is located. A MacBook Air only has one drive (if you don't have an external drive connected) so it is telling you that your drive (SSD) is nearly full. If you go to the Apple menu and click About This Mac  and then click Storage it will show you how much free and total storage you have (e.g. 73.97 GB free of 120.14 GB).

  • I keep getting the message "the photo library was created with an unreleased version of iphoto.  I have reinstalled but still get the message. What do I need to do?

I have had my iBook for years with iPhoto on and then suddenly today I get the message "The photo library was created with an unreleased version of iPhoto.  Please quit and upgrade this photo library by opening it in iPhoto 2 or iPhoto 4.  I reinstalled iPhoto but nothing has changed.  What do I need to do to get it working again?  Help!!

Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 08* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Events and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
In the iPhoto Preferences -> Events Uncheck the box at 'Imported Items from the Finder'
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library (Right Click -> Show Package Contents) on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Event Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

  • Photos can not import the photo library "can not repair permissions" what I can do?

    Hello
When I try to import your iPhoto library to the Photos app gives me error.
The misconception is that "can not repair permissions from the photo library."
I have repaired permissions from iphoto and ko.
    What I can do?
    Thanks.

Drag the photos to the iPhoto icon on the dock. Then wait for the fix that will hopefully come in 10.8.3

  • By what methood does the iPhone sort photos in the Photo Library?

I would like to have all of our family photos get sorted chronologically in the Photo Library on the iPhone. However, much of our photos are from scans so they have the scanned time in the time stamp as opposed to when they were actually taken. If I manually put the time in iPhoto will that affect how the iPhone Photo Library sorts the photos? The iPhone doesn't appear to sort by name, so a method of renaming photos beginning with the date (YearMonthDay - 19920127) probably would not affect how the iPhone Photo Library sort them. Is there a way to do this?

OK yes Loading apps are faster...But for some reason 4 got latency and lag once in a while compared to the 3GS...its not a zippy...its wierd to explain...but theres a lot of post about it here.
Im guessing the A4 chip is not 1GHz since performance is not that big of a difference compared to the 3GS, Where as the 3GS was big improvement from the 3g and thats only less than 200MHz difference.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • The photo library won't upgrade so that I can use iPhoto

I recently installed iWork on my computer. When I tried to open iPhoto after having my computer unplugged and off for awhile a message appeared saying "The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with the latest version of iPhoto..." I clicked the Upgrade button highlighted in blue and it said "Unable to upgrade this photo library because the current user doesn;t have access. If possible, repair permissions for iPhoto library and try again" I have no idea what this means. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Colleen:
First move the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, from your User/Library/Preferences folder to the desktop and try again. If still a no-go download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administartive name in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application, iPhoto dB file backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

Is your Apple Intel-based, poppelmacbook?  If not, you should consider treating yourself to a new Mac. Last December I gave up my old because it just could not update...anything because it was not Intel-based.  Updating everything on this OS to 10.9 has been confusing for me, but I just could not work with that old Mac because the updates were too smart? for my 10.6.  It is upstairs now...for visiting family:  games, garage band, etc.--things I never did use.  Apple refurbished and purchase the extended warranty.  Apple loyalist since late 1980's.

  • "the photo library was created with an unreleased version of iPhoto"

    Help!
I think this all started with an onscreen message telling me I had a trojan. I downloaded a free copy of mac scan. This later asked me to subscribe. I could not get rid of the message except by switching off the computer, (I was tired and desperate), so I did.
I later tried to transfer photos from my camera to the the computer - it would not allow me - said it did not recognise the files.
Later tried to open iPhoto and it said "The photo library was created with an unreleased version of iPhoto. Please quit and upgrade this library by opening it in iPhoto 2 or iPhoto 4."
What have I done? How can I undo/rectify this???
    Jane

If Larry's fixes don't wortk then Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. • Moving photos from the Photo Library to the Camera Roll

    Hi,
I have recently moved all of the photos on my camera roll into the photo library, however I want to put some back onto the camera roll, but I can't figure out how to. I realize that there probably is no way because of what both of these albums are actually for, but I was wondering if there was any way possible.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    {quote:title=Nissin101 wrote @ 3:36pm EMT:}{quote}
Well I was able to move photos from the camera roll to the photo library by sending *the pictures via email to my dad's blackberry, then saving them to my computer from his phone, then putting them back on into the photo library*.
This is what I said originally.
    {quote:title=Nissin101 wrote @ 4:08pm EMT:}{quote}
Alright I guess that answers my question then. However, just as I said I was able to transfer photos from my camera roll to my photo library, so at least that is possible.
I never said that I did it directly, neither did I mean to imply that I was looking for a direct solution. This I guess is where our misunderstanding comes from. I just did not feel like repeating the whole process I went through. Regardless, I would rather this thread not derail into who said what and whose misunderstanding who. I now know that it is not possible to get pictures from the photo library to the camera roll in any way, so my question is answered for now at least.

  • The Photo Library needs to be upgraded....

"The Photo Library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto." This came up as I opened iPhoto 4.0.3. which I have been running since June 05. I don't think and I looked to see if iPhoto got updated, all looks the same.
Please advise as to what to do now. I made a backup, on another HD, of my Pictures in iPhoto Library just in case.
    Thanks, Spencer

So you have been running iP 4.0.3 all that time and you got the upgrade library message???? interesting.... something is fishy here...
well like you did, which was the smart thing to do, make a backup of the entire iphoto library (inside your pictures folder) and do upgrade the original library and see what happen!
when you say "of my Pictures in iPhoto Library just in case."
did you copy the entire iP library???
Make sure that you really copied the iPhoto library because it needs all the component that are inside for iPhoto to operate properly.
BTW, did you move anything in or out of the Ip library????
as a rule of thumb, DO NOT venture inside the iP library, move or take out anything in there...... if you did, this may be the cause of iP's need to want to be upgraded!!! Furthermore, any deletion from the iPlibrary not done within the iP applications will casue "mayhem later
    my 2 cents!
