  • Do I need the battery indicator?

I'm having a repair done and they tell me the battery indicator is faulty.  Does it do anything more than just show battery life via the lights on the side?  Will the computer operate normally without it?  Will the onscreen battery icon still work?  Just wondering if I need to spend the extra $$.  Thanks guys!

    Hey Surface_Dweller,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you want to know what exactly the battery indicator does. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you.

The battery indicator lights are located along the left side of the computer. This allows for quick and easy verification of the battery's charge status while the computer remains solidly in-place.

  • What happened to the battery indicator on my ipad's lock screen?

I've noticed recently that the large green (or red, if low) battery indicator that used to appear on the lock screen when my iPad 2 was plugged in has disappeared.  I have searched in vain for a setting for this, could someone point me in the right direction?  It could have happened when I updated to iOS 5.0.1, but I am not quite sure the time matches up, and it seems like a silly change to make.  Also, my iPhone has the battery indicator, and it's also on 5.0.1.

The issue may also be caused by the power source that you are using:
    iPad: Charging the battery
If you don't see the white charging or plug icons, try connecting to the 10W power adapter.
    iPad: Charging the battery
To charge your iPad battery, try one of the following:
Connect iPad to a power outlet using the included cable and the 10W USB power adapter.
Connect to a high-power USB 2.0 port using the included cable.

My 13.3" macbook pro will not power up.The battery indicator light does not come on.The Mag safe charging light flickers green and red dimly.I had a cell phone connected to the USB port.

This didn't work for me, so I did a bit of searching and TONS of pages later in google, I found an answer. Here are the steps for people who also were in my situation:
    1. Take off bottom case
    2. Unplug battery - blurry image here: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/03cC79r5Dx4/0.jpg
    3. Press and hold power button for 5 seconds
    4. Plug a charger in, and it should start booting up
    5. After shutting down again, reconnect the battery and close the case up
    6. It works! (hopefully, if you guys had the same situation I did)

  • What is the battery average of the iPhone 4S running with the 5.1 IOS ?

So... what is the battery average of the iPhone 4S running with the 5.1 IOS ?

I don't spend time worrying about my "average" battery life. To figure that out, I'd need to keep track of exactly how long it took my battery to run down. I'd need to run the battery down every time. I'd need to do this for weeks to get any valid data. I have a life. I charge my phone at night and take it off in the morning. If I need or get the chance to charge it some other time, I do.

  • Ten days away: what about the battery?

    Hi,
I'm going to leave for ten (10) days, not bringing my iBook with me. It will stay OFF for all that time. What about the battery? Is it going to get stale? How much shoud I charge it before I leave?
Right now I'm really proud of it: full charge = 6:30 hours!!!!
    Thanks,
    Stefano.

    Stefano -
I'd say ten days would be OK without having to do anything special, here are a few links that talk about battery storage and other battery related information.

what is the battery available for hp pavilion dv4-1502 tu product number(vt100pa#acj)?

    Hi:
You can query by the part number listed on your battery if you want the same one or an equivalent.
Below is the link to the dv4 service manual.  Supported batteries with part numbers are listed in Chapter 3, page 23.

  • Service the battery indicator.

I have a MacBook Pro 15-inch, early 2011, 2 GHz Intel Core i7, when I take the power cable out my battery symbol turns red and suggests I service the battery, what should I do as I it has a non removeable battery?

I apologize if this is off topic.  I just obtained a late 2011 15 in mbp. It would only work if it was plugged in.  I replaced the battery and the same. The battery was not charging. However the MagSafe was green. After some research I disconnected the battery indicator cable and it started charging as normal. Of course the sleep function did not work. My next step was to order a new battery indicator cable.  Hopefully this will fix it. Anyone have similar experience?

  • Is the battery indicator misleading??

    Hi all,
I just got the new iPod 30GB and I notice that right after it's been fully charged, when I just listen to music, within 10-15minutes the battery indicator goes from full to 3/4. It seems like the battery indicator shows the battery is getting less and less power. Do I have a defective iPod, or is this just the nature of the beast. I haven't let go all the way to the end, so I can't say whether it is actually losing it's charge, but the indicator appears that the battery is running out faster than what I'm used to with my old iPod. 10-15 minutes and the indicator going from full to 3/4 quarters seems a but fast right??
Is anyone else running into this problem? I am not playing much video on it, so it's generally playing music, but I hear the video playback uses alot more power and that battery runs out faster in that case. This would probably not apply in my case, as I took this under consideration when monitoring the issue.
Just would like to know whether this is just a display or software bug and I don't have to worry about the actual battery life running out...OR if I really do have a battery issue, I should run this back right away....
    Your advisement is greatly appreciated.

So I decided to fully charge the iPod, then run the stop watch and continously play music while timing the battery life. It's been six hours so far, and the battery indicator shows a spec of red, but totally empty. It's still going though. I'll let you know of the progress. It sounds to me though that this is a combination of a battery indicator light innacuracy, and having to charge and run the battery completely down a few times to get the battery working at good capacity. I haven't ran the battery all the way down yet, so this test would be the first time. I'll try and run this test with the stop watch on, a couple of times too and see if the battery life improves. I'm at 6 hours so far, and have not played any video, so according to Apple, I'm supposed to get up to 14 hours of continuous music, so we'll see how far it goes.
At least I'm not the only one, so I'm thinking this is just the nature of the beast as opposed to a defective product. But try out the test I'm doing, and see what comes up. What does your battery life truly go to......
