What is the safe CPU temperaures?

I have an early 2011 13'' MBP. I use mostly for gaming and the CPU temperature reaches up to 90C. is it still in the safety range?

Your MBP has temperature sensors built in it that will shut down the machine before it self destructs.  90c is high but not lethal.  Gaming takes a lot of CPU resources and thus will invariably create a lot of heat.
Ciao.

Use the Organizer backup & restore method, starting the restore from the TLY file. Probably best to use a custom location as the XP file structure will be different. See this link for further help:

  • 6380-E mobo - what's the max CPU?

Hi -  I have an MSI 6380-E (KT3-Ultra2) motherboard.  The manual says an Athlon XP 2200+ is the fastest CPU it can handle.
However, I believe I read that up to an Athlon XP 3000+ can be used if the BIOS has been updated.
The AMI BIOS version is 5.70 - the last one MSI released for this motherboard.
What is the fastest CPU this motherboard can handle?
    Thanks

theres nothing wrong with those readings m8.
you have 2 processors because of hyperthreading. windows sees it at 2 separate cpus.  you external clock is your fsb, which should be 200. this is quadpumped so essentially it is 800mhz, then your current speed is your cpus clock speed and since you have a 3.2p4 E it tells you its running at 3200mhz = 3.2Ghz

  • K7N2 Delta: what are the fastest cpu available?

    I have a K7N2 Delta-ILSR with a AMD Athlon XP 2200+
I am thinking about upgrading the CPU.
    On the product page: http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K7N2_Delta-ILSR&class=mb
it says that it "Supports 600MHz up to Athlon™ XP 3000+ processor or higher"
    What does that exactly mean?
It supports Athlon XP 3000+ but what is the "higher" processors that it can support??
     ??? ??? ???

    CPU List HERE.
You just have to make sure you have BIOS as shown near top of list to support any 200/400Mhz FSB CPU you might get (Barton 3000+/3200+ ~ 200/400Mhz FSB). The earliest BIOS's only supported up to 166/333Mhz FSB
I'm also assuming you now have PC2100 RAM and you would also need to upgrade to either PC2700 or PC3200 depndinding on which CPU you get keeping in mind that PC3200 should also work with the 166/333Mhz CPU's
    Thanks for the link.
I see that the AthlonXP 3000+ has a FSB of 166,
Higher than that there is the 3000+ and 3200+ with FSB of 200.
Now lets see if i understand correctly:
    My current processor 2200+ (1.8ghz) has 133MHZ = FSB 266
    The 3200+ (2.2ghz) has a 200 MHZ = FSB 400
The specifications of the board say that it supports fsb of 400 so it should work with that processor.
You say i have to upgrade the memory also?
Im using DDR333 - PC 2700 that operate at 166mhz
I need to switch to DDR400 - PC 3200 that operate at 200mhz for the 3200+ to work? Or can i still use my current memory?

  • What is the fastest CPU I could put in Satellite Pro L20

This is a desperate request for help!!
The Football Manager 2010 is coming out soon and my laptop needs to be up to scratch.
I know I need to upgrade it because Football Manager 2009 nearly killed it!
At the moment I have 1.4ghz Intel Celeron M chip and 704mb of ram.
What is the fastest chip I could put in? I've done a bit of research and found I can only have 2gb of ram
The laptop is in perfect working order so I don't want to buy a new one just for the sake of it and its served me well over the last 4 years - I've dropped it enough times! Just need to speed it up a bit!

Hmm... Do you really want to upgrade the pretty old Satellite Pro L20? I mean new notebooks are not so expensive anymore and I doubt that you will get a strong performance boost with new CPU.
Anyway, in your notebook is only the preinstalled CPU pretested and nobody is able to say what other CPUs will run. But you should look on the specifications for other Satellite Pro L20 notebooks. If another L20 is equipped with faster CPU, it should also work in yours. You can try it but in worst case it will not work.
    Good luck!

  • What are the minimum CPU and Memory requirements for R12 Vision instance?

We are in the process of trying to figure out what the minimum hardware requirements are for installing the R12 Vision instance. This Vision instance would only have 5 or less concurrent users. We may have to order a new server and we are wondering what the minimum CPU and memory would be? Oracle Support will not give us this information.
We aleady know how much disk space it will need.

  • What's the maximum cpu speed?

My KT3V manual says that I can use 2.8GHZ CPU or higher.
    Mine is a 1.7GHz one.
What's the limit to the above "higher". I have heard that a friend of mine uses a KT3V with a 3.2 GHZ (the latest released by MSI)
Thanks for claryfing this to me

You are right Maesus. The technical sheet shows the Barton XP 3000+ as the maximum possible cpu to use on this board. Perhaps I was confused or my friend, I won't hear from him until the beginin of July when he comes back from L.A.
Anyway, I'm not an expert, just a single user. If in the future it MSI launches a CPU higher than 3.0+ for 166/333MHZ chipset, can I expect to use it with the K3TV or this Barton would be the latest?
    Thank you for your help

  • What is the safe music listening level for regular and in-ear headphones?

I am wondering what the safe music listening level for regular and in-ear headphones is. I heard it was 50% volume for regular headphones but what about the new 60$ in-ear ones? I am going to get them soon.

Just turn it up enough for you to enjoy the music. Even prolonged low volume sound can have long term negative effects on your hearing. It also depends on your listening environment. In a dead silent room you won't need very much volume. I have my cranked pretty high on when riding my motorcycle to work.  Just don't take your hearing for granted. Constant ringing in your ears will suck.

  • What is the best CPU/FAN combo for my system

With this type of CPU and motherboard, what kind of heatsink/fan combo would you recommend. I am using the one that came with my 2100 processor and I'm worried because I don't think this will provide adequate CPU cooling. So what CPU/FAN combo would give me the best bang for my buck.

Well I checked at PC Progress and I found a Thermaltake Volocano 10+ and a Thermaltake Volcano 12+ for reasonable prices.
Are these good CPU/Heatsinks and if they are...
Would it be better for me to go with the 12+ instead of the 10+ because it's a higher number? What is the difference between those two models?

    Hi,
after starting my MacBook Pro I was faced with a grey screen stating that "an error has occurred, you need to restart your computer". I did that multiple times but the same message appeared each time. So I started the Safe Boot. Now the progress bar is stuck at the 25-30% progress mark since 30 min. Any advise on what to do from here?

  • What is a safe CPU temp?

So I've noticed my MBA has been getting up to 90 degrees+ while gaming (I know these aren't meant for that, but hey, it works so it will). Anyway, I was wondering if such high temps was healthy and if they are okay, and if they are fine, is it healthy to have these temps for hours(Since Thursdays I game for roughtly 3-4hrs)?
    P.s.
It actually gets hot enought that the metal around the WASD keys heat up, and can almost burn my figertips :s

    BodomTheVixen wrote:
Thanks for the intel link, I'll be sure to watch if it goes past 100°c.
Intel's CPUs are designed to "throttle back" when they reach that temperature. Thats why the "turbo boost" speed is higher, the speed listed as its main speed is what it can run at constantly and what the cooling system is designed to handle. The "turbo boost" increases power beyond that to the CPU's full speed until the thermal limit is reached.
By increasing fan speed you will delay the time when it has to throttle, increasing long-term performance.
    BodomTheVixen wrote:
Also, this isn't the first time I've seen someone say 'Speeds higher than 2000 rpm may damage your Macbook' but I'm kind of questions how exactly.
They are the same kind of people that will say "never revv your cars engine over 3000rpm when accelerating". Overly cautious because they aren't sure how it actually works.
Higher fan speeds will hurt nothing but your battery time, just as revving a cars engine will hurt nothing but fuel economy.

  • What is the best cpu for Premiere Pro and autocad?

I am considering these three cpu's. My build has to run Premiere Pro CS6 and the latest Autocad (I know this a Adobe forum, but if any out there also run Autocad in addition to PP...let me hear from you and what your build is).
I am PP hobby enthusiast/student/want to eventually have video postproduction company in future. Right now autocad is 'bread and butter' part-time.
These three are in my price range...which would you choose for PP and why? (side comments about autocad suitability also appreciated)
    1. Core i7-3930K  Sandy Bridge-E 3.2GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 2011 130W
    2. Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W
    3. Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W

Note that AutoCad is not an avanced software, it only uses one cpu thread (so if you have a fast solo processor that's all AutoCad makes use of) but the cpus mentioned above are the fastest cpus per single core. I don't know about the Premiere Pro i.e. what this program does in the regard of utilizing all cores and threads, but AutoCad for sure does not. So an AutoCad machine only needs a fast CPU, good memory and a graphics card that AutoCad knows how to make use of in 3D (if you are using AutoCad for 3D) but AutoCad is definitely not the program to consider for use in 3D modeling. AutoCad is still vector based program (and probably will continue to be in future, since there will always be some need for vector based design software) but Autodesk does have software that is not vector based like Inventor.
