Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the ''Safe mode'' start window.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (on Mac: "Firefox > Quit")

I just installed FF4 and can't get a bookmark to open in a new tab using right-button click and selecting open in a new tab.

actually, it's more complicated. It seems none of the right-button options work: Open, open in a new window, and open in a new tab.

Safe Mode worked. Turned off hardware acceleration and it work until the next boot up, then it didn't work anymore. Made sure hardware acceleration was still off and then disabled all apps and it worked again. One-by-one, I enabled apps until all apps were again enabled. It worked with each app added. Everything still works and hasn't stopped working through about 5 boot-ups.

Since a new update, every time I open up a new tab I get a menu of my most used pages. I hate this how do I get rid of it?

I was updated to 3.6 and now I cannot create new tabs. Neither the plus sign or cntl + T will open a new tab. If I right click and choose "open in a new tab", however, the tab opens just fine.

I've tried restarting the system, but decided not to uninstall/reinstall firefox, just in case I lost all my bookmarks and favorites. The restart did not solve anything. Also, I have colorful tabs add on and it was updated today. I disabled it, but that did not help either.

How do I change the order of the choices when you right-click on a link? "Open in a new window" used to be first, but in Firefox 4 "Open in a new tab" is first - which I hate using but click on by mistake. Can I change the order back to what it was?

In Firefox 3.6, when I clicked on a bookmark it would open in a new tab. In 4.0, the bookmark open in an already open tab. How can I make 4.0 work the way 3.6 did when opening bookmarks?

Just installed Firefox 4.....now cannot print a pdf document in FF 4 using either file-print or the printer icon. However, I can print by right click on pdf page and selecting print form drop down. Was printing fine with FF 3.X

using adobe 9.x would not print. Then loaded Adobe Reader 10.x still would not print. Can print Adobe images just fine outside of FF4.x I am about ready to remove FF4 and go back to FF3.x.
Has anyone else had this problem.
Am running Win Xp with all current updates.

I had the same issue and my of my friends.
The fix is easy. You need to remove and re-add your printers.
Do this by going to the Applications folder Utilities folder and opening up Printer Setup Utility
Then click on the printers you see click remove and add them again.
If its a network printer, I would write down the IP address. Otherwise you have to figure out what it is.

When I right click on a URL, my drop down menu reads "open in a new window" first and then "open in a new tab". I would like to have "open in a new tab" come first on the menu.

I downloaded the menu editor extension but I can't open it.
Searching on the web for something to open it I get the message from the windows website:
File Type: Unknown
Description: Windows does not recognize this file type.
Any suggestions?

Open All in Tabs, opens bookmarks in new tabs and leaves current tab open instead of changing to the first bookmark

Whenever I click the "Open All in Tabs", it opens all the bookmarks in new tabs instead of opening the first bookmark in the current tab and the rest in new tabs.
happens on all 3 of my computers running 8.0a1

In my Firefox Aurora 8.0a2 (Windows 7, but Ubuntu 10.10 as well) the current behaviour could be described as follows: 
Open all in tabs
<ul><li>Normal click: opens all in new tabs, changes focus to first one opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + click: opens all in new tabs, changes focus to first one opened;</li>
<li>Shift + click: opens all in new window, changes focus to first one (tab) opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + Shift + click: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus.</li></ul>
 
Whereas I would like it to be as follows: 
Open all in tabs
<ul><li>Normal click: opens all but the first one (which overwrites current) in new tabs, doesn't change focus (due to the fact that the first item is already in the focused tab); in short, it changes the currently focused to the first item from the folder and appends its' rest on the right side;</li>
<li>Ctrl + click: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus;</li>
<li>Shift + click: opens all in new window, changes focus to the first one (tab) opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + Shift: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus.</li></ul>
 
This behaviour was present a few versions ago and only lately have I looked for the solution to this. I encountered many bug files regarding this topic with people speaking against Firefox's behaviour that would close existing tabs when opening all in new tabs (from a folder), which possibly influenced the change that I would like to be reverted.
 
Please let me know if it is possible to attain the behaviour I described.

How do I make it the default that when I click on a link it will open in a new tab?

Particularly when I am doing a Google search, but also when I am in a site, I find I frequently have to right click and force 'open in a new tab' to avoid the link overriding the current tab. I want to have all links I click on automatically open in a new tab. My settings are set to go to the new tab immediately - that works fine - but too often I have to immediately back-page and re-click using the right-click menu to avoid losing my search or origin page. This is annoying when there are several links I want to explore, and have to backtrack to get to them.
Firefox is my default browser, 29.0.1 at the moment, and it runs on an old Dell laptop using WinXP. Before asking this I did check the available support info without finding an answer. I followed the instructions in the article about Google and the about:config but it did no good - it still defaults to opening in the current tab. It might seem like a small thing but in my search for answers I saw some folks who have the reverse problem - they want links to open in the same tab - so clearly it is a settings issue.
