What is the significance of Schedule line category

Pls let me know the role of Schedule line category in SD at various levels like documents etc

Hi Prem,
Schedule line Category is used to provide different control options for the items throughout the sales process. By defining a schedule line category, we
determine which schedule lines are actually relevant for Delivery. We must activate the relevant delivery indicator if we want the goods to be physically delivered.
We can activate a delivery block in the schedule line category, this block is then automatically set at the
schedule line level in the sales document.
In the schedule line category we set the movement type to control which changes to quantities and values are posted to inventory accounting.

    Hi,
    AT is the schedule line category used for inquiry.
    As per SAP standard every sales document is divided into 3 levels header---item-schedule line.....as per requirement we can control these levels..
    So as a part of sales document Inquiry is also divided into 3 levels even the 3rd level i.e .schedule is not used for inquiry.

             or userexit_check_vbep in MV45ZAFZB.
           check vbep-ettyp for the schedule line category and write the logic.

    Can any one please explain me what is the link between the schedule lines of the order/scheduling agreement and the item level of the delivery.
    Is there any link between VBEP and LIPS ?

    Most of the item level data in delivery doc is copied from Schedlue lines in Sales order for eg delivery date
    So u may say that schedule line in sales order becomes the line item in Subsequent doc that is in Delivery doc .
    The table u are talking about i.e VBEP is related to sales doc and it contain data for Schedule line in sales order and the other table i.e LIPS give the delivry doc related data at item level.

  • Multiple Schedule Line Category significance

    Hi,
    I am a SAP SD newbie..  I am not able to understand the significance of Schedule line category..
    Each item can have multiple schdule line caterories.  But why would we need multiple of these.
    Sap manuals are not very clear on the need for multiple schedule lines especially since they are automaticall determined.
    So clarification would help me understand the concept..

    Significance of Multiple Schedule Lines is that if the complete stock is not available at a given point of time & Partial Delivery allowed. For Example, Sales Order is for Quantity 100 (Partial Delivery allowed) & ready stock issay 30, which can be delivered on required delivery date & balance 70 may be available after 10 day. so there will be multiple schedule line, the first schedule line as not confirmed sales order on say 17th Jan, second schedule line as confirmed sales order of 30 on 17th Jan & third schedule line as confirmed sales order on 27th Jan.
    Alternatively, customer places Sales Order of say 100 & provides an schedule say 25 numbers on 17th Jan, 25 numbers on 24th Jan & so on..., so accordingly schedule lines can be maintained.

    What is the significance of scheduling lines in a PO.
    scenario is PR is created for 100 quantity.
    In po 2 scheduling lines are made 1 for 20 and 2nd for 80.
    while creating 2nd line item PR no is not mentioned wrt schedule line.
    what is the significance of the same.

    1.You have to first make the PR..
    2. Then make the Schedule agreement from ME31L...
    3. then release it from ME35K..
    4. then make the Delivery schedule with respect to this schedule agreement..
    5. then release it...
    You can't make the delivery schedule for PR directly ...schedule agreement is necessary for source dertermination...

  • Schedule Line Category for MTS material

    Hi All,
    I am working on the MTS (make to stock) scenario. The MRP type being used is VM - Automatic reorder point planning" as the client wants the system to calculate the reorder point dependng upon the consumption.
    I have used MP30 to calculate the reorder point. As far as the sales order is concerned, when I enter the MTS material & check the schedule line category determined is "CV - consumption MRP".
    I check ed in VOV6 & CV is not relevant for Transfer of requirement & Availability check. I changed CV to CP & now the system is carrying out the availability check & transfer of requirement.
    Have I done the right thing, will the system record the consumption of the particular material? In the material master I have used W in the period indicator & used forecast type as "G".
    Is the shcedule line CP correct ot wormg.? Please also explain me what is the use of schedule line "CV".

    The schedule line categories BV and CV are Consumption based MRP and controlled in the same manner as the categories BN and CN. However, requirements can be passed on for analysis purposes.

  • Maintain schedule line Category

    Hello,
    Could you please advise on following:
    Example:
    I have a delivery date for example 06.08.2012 and choose the Schedule line cat. Y1 the delivery date in purchase req remains the same 06.08.2012, but when i choose Y2 the date is becoming 05.08.2012.
    I have checked the schedule line category definition T-Code: VOV6 for Y2 the P.req.del.sched (Purchase requisition with delivery scheduling) is selected.
    Could you please advise if this is a reason and how the date is calculated. I mean were are the setting. I thing there should be somwhere one day and zero but cannot find it.

    The problem I have is that when i change the schedule line categorry from Y1 to Y2 or create the SO with schedule line category Y2 the delivery date in PR which is created while creating SO (Purchase-To-Order SO) is
    one day back.
    Example:  schedule line cat Y1
    Delivery date in SO is 06.07.2012  delivery date in PR 06.07.2012 fine for me.
    But
    schedule line cat Y2
    Delivery date in SO is 06.07.2012 delivery date in PR is 05.07.2012 one way back, not fine for me, I would like it to be the same like it is in Y1 so 06.07.2012 not 05.07.2012.
    Can you advise where are the settings ??

    The items in a sales document are divided into one or more schedule lines. These schedule lines differ from each other with respect to date and quantity.
    Different control elements are also defined for the schedule lines. For example, for some schedule lines, material requirements planning is not carried out; for other schedule lines, it is carried out. Also goods receipt, not goods issue, is posted for a schedule line defined in a returns document.
    The various schedule line categories are controlled in different ways:
    - The schedule line AT in inquiries is used only for information.
    - No requirements are transferred and no availability check is carried out for the schedule lines BN and CN.
    - Requirements are transferred and the availability of the material is checked for the schedule lines BP and CP.
    - No stocks are managed for the schedule line categories BT, CT and CX. No goods issue is posted for the categories BT and CT. However, goods issue is posted for CX.
    - The schedule line categories BV and CV are controlled in the same manner as the categories BN and CN. However, requirements can be passed on for analysis purposes.
    - Goods receipt is posted for the schedule line DN in a returns document.
    - The schedule line categories CN, CP, CT, and CV are relevant for delivery; the other schedule line categories are not.

  • Schedule line category CN is inconsistent with the MRP type

    Guys,
    I am running into an issue here..
    I have change the MRP type of articles from ND (no planning) to PD (MRP)
    Now when I try to change sales oders on this articles (VA02), I get error message saying that the Schedule line category CN is inconsistent with the MRP type
    Does that make sense to any of you and what is/are the remedies

    When you have created SO at that time the MRP type was ND so based on that System has picked the Schedule line category CN which is No mat.planning. Create new SO this problem will not come. Based on Strategy & PD schedule line category will come as mat. planning.

  • Credit exposure and the Schedule line category

    Hi,
    I have a problem in credit exposure update in FD33.When I use the schedule line category xx which has req/Assembly marked in schedule line category settings is updating the sales order values in Fd33 even if the sales order (while creating) is blocked due to credit.
    Whereas I use the schedule line category YY which has req/Assembly not marked in schedule line category settings is not updating the sales order values in Fd33  if the sales order(while creating) is blocked due to credit.
    Is this the standard behavior? If so Why.

    Yes, this is a standard behavior.
    Please refer to note 393304.
    If the flag "transfer of requirements" is not set, that means that credit-blocked order won´t update credit values.

    In the Schedule line Category, we have an option Availability check right?
    Business requirement is to suppress Availability check at schedule line category level, where Availability check box is not selected.
    When I trigger availability check manually, the confirmation happens on the day requested & no additional schedule lines are created.
    For the same order, if I run the BOP with the above settings made in schedule line category; order is confirmed & is checking against stock & lead time.
    My question is: Online ATP respect the availability check setting made in schedule line category. Does BOP respects the same as Online ATP?

    SCHEDULE LINE CATEGORY:-
    Schedule line Category determines the Schedule lines for the Line item, it will determine whether the Item is relevant for  Delivery or not
    Transfer of Requirements are also controlled
    Availability check at the Sales order is controlled with the Indicator set at SCHEDULE LINES
    For Third Party processing, the Purchase requisition is created based on the Setting at schedule lines
    Together with the ITEM CATEGORY , the schedule lines determine whether the Transaction is Relevant for MRP or not In the Transaction code VOV5
    ITEM CATEGORY:-
    Item category is a significant part in processing the sales document
    Item category determines whether particular item is relevant for Delivery ot not,
    Whether item is relevant for the  Billing
    In Determine the Availability and TOR Item category plays an important role, for example the Availability check at DELIVERY will be taken place based on  the DELIVERY ITEM CATEGORY
    Some Fnctionalities like OUTPUT, TEXT, PARTNER, INCOMPLETION are controlled
    DIP which in the ITEM CATEGORIES is the Main Integration Between SD and PS

  • Schedule line number determination - Schedule line category CP(MRP)

    Hello All,
    I want to know on what basis schedule line numbers getting determined.
    Schedule line category: CP-MRP
    Sales order line items getting confirmed based on the Planned order--> production order created through MRP run.
    I have created sales order line item 1 with 100 quantities. for example I created today. RDD also today.
    3 production order created.
    Those production orders confirmation date as below.
    Production order 1 - 60 quantities - 14.04.2014
    Production order 2 - 30 quantities - 16.04.2014
    Production order 3: 10 quantities - 18.02.2014.
    There are four schedule lines for the line item 1.
    All the 4 lines showed as per the confirmation date order.
    But the schedule line numbers are not as per the above order.
    For example,
    Schedule line number   ----- delivery date ----- Confirmed qty
    1.                                         09.04.2014            0
    3.                                         14.04.2014            60
    2                                          16.04.2014           30
    4                                          18.04.2014            10
    On what basis this schedule numbers getting determined? Is there any standard procedure ?
    Why schedule line numbers not inline with the confirmed date?

    Schedule line number is the number that uniquely identifies the schedule line .
    Use When an item has more than one schedule line, the system automatically assigns a unique number to each line. The number is displayed in the details screens for schedule lines.
    Note The schedule line number serves internal purposes and does not, for example, determine the sequence of schedule lines in the overview screen. The schedule lines on the overview screen are sorted by date.
    The schedule line number will get created automatically by the system. I hope this will clarify your doubt. Thanking you.
