From my perspective, it is a bit like asking "what is the difference between a welding torch and a toaster? They both can make toast?" Which is true, but only one can weld steel (and in turn is considerably over the top for just making plain toast).
An iPod Touch and an iPhone may be quite similar in some respects, but at the same time, their differences are drastic, as one can do valuable things that the other is simply incapable of.

Yesterday i dropped my phone and the screen got shattered. The phone is working fine. but the screen is cracked.
After searching through the internet, i found out the following options:
Getting Out-of-warranty Replacement.
Getting the screen repaired by Apple Store.
I am located in India and had bought the phone from India only.
So my questions are?
What is the cost of getting an out-of warranty replacement for iPhone 5?
Can i get a replacement for a higher model of iPhone( maybe 5s or upcoming iPhone 6). If yes, how much extra i'll have to pay?

Apple no longer sells the iPhone 5. They keep a number of units on hand for out of warranty service, which is $269 in the US.
Buying from Craiglist (or on-line) is usually risky as the phones turn out to be not what they are advertised as. -

On the logic board of a 3g and 3gs (i am not sure about the other models) there is a golden coloured tab that sticks out and when the board is in the housing it makes contact with the chrome bezel.
I was wondering what the job of this little part is and what the implications would be if it did not do its job properly.

Apple used to sell a USB Fax/Modem that worked great... until Lion.
Is there a replacement part?Not that I've heard of (although there are some third party external fax modems available). However, if you have an AIO printer that supports faxing, you can fax - either via the printer's touch screen or, depending on model, you may be able to control it from the Mac.
Or, there are online fax services. -

If it's a used phone and the previous owner left it linked to their account then you will need to contact the previous owner, only they can remove it from their account : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! Would have been nice to know which files I actually do need to transfer, which I don't get any info on of course...

If you have purchased a new phone, restore it from the last back up of your old phone.
If you're asking how to get it back, IF you activated the free Find my iPhone service on the old phone, you can sign in to icloud.com and track it if it has not been wiped or turned off. Other than that, all you can do is report it to the police and your carrier. Might also be a good idea to change all your passwords. -
