It isn't that it's an AVI that it's poor quality, it's down to the culture and individuals that steal and post it on the internet for others to download. If you use these sorts of services, you'll be plagued by poor quality video, infections on your computer and potentially a knock on the door.
You can get good quality movies from the iTunes Store that won't infect your computer and let you sleep peacefully in your bed at night.

What is the deal with "Apple official unlocked" iPhones on eBay?
Does anyone know what this means? The eBay sellers say that you can use these phones on any network (like T-Mobile)...but what is the catch? is there some sort of hidden cost or issue with the phones? and why do they say it's officially unlocked by apple, (not jailbroken)...curious as to why/how Apple would do this? thanksYes, they are officially unlocked by Apple. Yes they will work on T-Mo but not completely. T-Mobile 3G WILL NOT function on the iPhone 3G due to different frequencies. If you have trouble believing this saying that there isn't one unlocked to test on T-Mo then look at the G1 Android phone from T-Mobile, it WILL NOT work on AT&T 3G, and it can be unlocked.

What's the Story with Brightness using AutoTone
AutoTone brightness levels have been pretty whacked out on the PC version for a long time now. Are you guy mixing up native gammas between OS's or something. I mean it's pretty much consistently too bright on the PC version by like about +25. It's the consistency of the overly bright on the PC version by +25 that makes me think its something you guys can fix (take a look at). Of course some kid or really old guy will now respond with some (subjective/relativity, is your monitor calibrated stuff he learned this year on the internet nonsense) but that's par for the course I guess. Thanks guys for the the terrific work your doing.
Yea ssprengel, that's exactly what I've been doing (not using it much though any more). Wish we could at least edit the code in the preset where all it would do is shadow, highlight recovery and auto contrast. Those portions of AutoTone seem to work very well. Something maybe like;

What is the problem with addons not installing
We are regularly running into an issue where installing adobe flash player is not installing the browser plugin for both FF and IE. I have used information from a non-english forum post that i forgot to bookmark to try and resolve the problem but can no longer find it. The forum post basically said that sometimes explorer.exe will lock the system32 folder during the install causing it not to copy the browser files.
I have installed and un-installed the following versions of flash
15.0.0.167 IE
15.0.0.152 FF
14.0.0.125 IE and FF
13.0.0.182 IE and FF
I have used the MSI packages to deploy through GPO, Manual install, and MSIEXEC via a 3rd party tool.
I have tried the web installer
I have also tried disabling and removing our secure endpoint solution
we are constantly plagued by the installs completing but never installing the browser plugins. I have been removing the anti-virus, then removing flash player, then starting the installer, then killing explorer.exe- letting the installer run then rebooting and re-installing the AV. THIS ONLY WORKS SOMETIMES AND CAN TAKE 4+ HOURS AT A REMOTE SITE.
I have 500+ computers to maintain flash installs on- I NEED HELP
we are using a mix of ie 7,8,9,10,11 and ff 3,17,24,31 windows XPSP3 windows 7sp1 domain environment.
The problem seems to show up the most on WIN7 IE10 IE11 machines.
We are also constantly battling content our partners post prompting our users to update flash player saying it is out of date. They are unable to do so and we have had this happen even when the install is one patch revision behind the newest- the content is then never delivered and requires our staff to manually update the machine. I am conviced this is a configuration on the web server or page hosting the content- does anyone know how to stop this?We make a number of packages available specifically for centralized distribution by IT organizations.
Redistributing FlashPlayer requires that you apply for a free distribution license, but it's pretty painless:

What is the deal with Iphone 5 photos downloading to my pc.
I have had an Iphone since all the way back to Iphone 3. never have I had this issue. I cannot download my pictures or video to my pc. I use to be able to plug in my phone and the box came up asking me what I want to do. work great but i guess if something is working apple moto is break it. I dont know way thay have changed this but it is very flustration to say the lest. all I can thing is that thay now want to force you to use the cloud a program that i dont want to use. If this is the way apple is going to treat their custormers then I am out. I hope the next update or Iphone goes back the what the people like simple and easy downloads to pc.

Mountain Lion stopped working with our Canon MX310 Printer? Why is the software not available from the Software Update Server?
The printer and ICA scanner driver is available from Apple. There is probably some other reason why you cannot get the drivers.
You can also get the drivers from Canon.
But reading your post it sounds like you were printing to the MX310 and recently it has stopped printing. Is this the case? -
What's the story with Launchpad app location?
Got a new MBP. Spent an hour setting up pages in Launchpad. Realized the sold computer, straight from the Apple Store, had 10.8 installed. Had to update to 10.8.2 to run some apps. Reboot and the Launchpad pages are FUBARed. What's up with that? It's been like this since day one of Launchpad. Can't this be put right? Come on man.

I just installed LION....what is the deal with Apple works?
I cannot open Apple works becauce Power PC applications are no longer supported... I use a Mac not a PC...What am I doing wrong?
PowerPC is the processor architecture that was used on Macs until about five years ago. Since then, the Mac platform has been based on Intel processors. Until the release of Lion, there was an emulation layer in the Mac OS called "Rosetta" that enabled legacy applications built for PowerPC to run. Rosetta isn't present in Lion; it can't be put back; and therefore PowerPC applications don't work in Lion.
If your Mac shipped with an older version of the Mac OS, you can use your installation discs to install it on a partition of your internal drive, or on an external drive. Boot that installation when you need to use the PowerPC applications, and meanwhile prepare to migrate your data to newer software.
If your Mac shipped with Lion, you can't run PowerPC applications. -
What is the matter with Apple?
Every update brings a new aggravation: Lost music files, vanishing iTunes libraries, other apps (Sonos) unable to locate my iTunes library. Just stop. Please. I have lost purchased music -- the folder is there but there’s nothing inside. What’s up with that? Come on folks.

FYI, I updated my Mac with every major and minor updates since 2009 till now with Yosemite 10.10.1 and I do not have any problems with iTunes. -
What is the story with Lightroom
Can anyone tell me about Adobe Lightroom? I am a pe5 user. Is there any reason to buy lightroom and use it with PE5? Can I replace PE5 with lightroom? Andy

It's difficult for me to give 100% accurate info as I've only used the Beta releases and V1.0 has some new features.
I've been using Lightroom for many months now alongside Elements. I suspect my workflow may change when V1.0 comes along as I believe its Organising abilities have change quite a bit.
Right now though I use it 100% for RAW processing. The Elements downloader still springs into life and dumps the images to my hard drive, but I then open LR and import the images into that. I'm hoping V1 may have improved and have an Elements type downloader but I don't find that a major obstacle. I could just stop the Elements service and import directly into LR.
One of the big issues I can see is that both Elements Organiser and LR keep independent databases so a decision will have to be made to either keep them in sync or work them independently. I'm hoping that I can drop the Elements Organiser in favour of LR but to date Elements Organiser has better capability, at least in my opinion.
Once I've imported the images into LR I review and cull them. (This currently means deleting them in Elements Organiser seperately). The images are keyworded and the keywords are compatible with Elements. I then process the images and Export them as PSDs back to the same folder as the RAW images. Since this is a watched folder Elements picks up the PSDs and the keywords. I then hide the RAW images in Elements.
Key thing to remember is that Elements has no concept of XMP files which is what LR generates.
You can also select an image in LR and then choose to Edit it in Elements. LR exports a TIF to Elements - you make your Edits; close the file and it goes back into LR. V1 has a kind of version/stacks feature. This is similar to selecting an image in Elements Organiser and then launching the Elements Editor.
What doesn't appear to work currently - and I'm not pinning any hopes that V1 will work any different - is that you cannot launch LR from Elements. In some way that doesn't make any sense to me anyway.

What is the story with Parallels?
I got a copy of Parallels with the purchase of my MacBook Air (bonus). So I installed it and registered it but have never used it yet. Been about 6 months. So today I open it up and it tells me that it has expired and I need to purchase a license again (or upgrade). Is this some kind of mix-up or does this program require a subscription paid every so often?

RichardThe copy you got with your computer was a trial version. Registering it allowed you to use it for a given period of time. After that if you want to keep using the software, you have to buy it. This is not a new concept.

What is the story with all this mac stuff
Recently bought a imac and was happy out at the start. I was on adobe prem ele 7 before on the pc. Before i go any further I am loving FCE 4 !!\
Ok here it is first off having to export movies out of imovie so annoying it just takes so long why you cant burn a dvd straight out of imovie like in adobe prem ele i just don't know. Then there is all the setting s in imovie import and export options yet in adobe prem ele i used to import my media staright in and adobe reconised it and put it out there with no hassel and the quality was really good now I am getting slightly fizzy looking video in imovie ( which i thought i had sorted with the great help from f shippey ) I get this fuzzy look in my video when i export via quicktime.
When i play it on my desktop in quicktime along side the same clip from finder in quicktime there is a definate loss of quality in my clips from imovie.....
Ok so I got side tracked there a bit back to idvd I burnt a 50minute project with titles e.tc on to verbatim dvd-r at 1x and 4 x speed and when i played them back onto my dvd player they stick half way through for a couple of secs and then play on, this is crazy and its not the first time i'm so annoyed with idvd and i don't think its up to the job at all. I never had one dvd stick in adobe and thats built into the premier ele software , i edited over 60 videobooth wedding dvds on the pc last year and never had one sent back for sticking... The FIRST one i do on the mac and it gets sent back to me for sticking so i run through some tests myself and everyone stutters/ sticks ... this is not good enough and i am wandering if anyone has any ideas or if they have experienced anything simular?
I have spent over 3500 euro on my mac and software printer etc and I am not happy with this..... and ps toast titanium 10 pro has been ordered so will check that out.

What's the story with Yosemite?
I just upgraded my iPhone to iOS 8 and I want to know what to do with the iCloud disk which is compatible with Yosemite. Right now I have Mavericks on my MacBook 2.4 Duo and I'm happy with it. All the glitches and so forth have been worked out and I don't think I want to go through another period where I can't get my mail, etc. So, has anyone tried Yosemite? the iCloud disk? the interface between the two? etc. Many thanks, Y

One of the entry questions after the upgrade to 8 iOS asks if you want iCloud Drive, but it states that "you will not be able to access the documents currently stored in iCloud on the following devices until they are also upgraded to iOS 8 or OSX Yosemite." My question is: should I upgrade to iCloud Drive if Yosemite is still unavailable if I want to access my documents?

What is the story with Java and UTF-8
Im getting bits of info about java and utf-8, things like
"unless you wrap the FileInputStream, you'll get exceptions with UTF-8 encoding"
So can someone tell where there is a good resource for detailing problems / advice when dealing with utf-8 encoded data???
