What is the upgrade path for osx ver 10.4.11 on a power pc g4 mac mini?

We recently set our old Mac Mini back up.  It has a 1.24 ghz PowerPC G4 with 1 gb of ddr sdram.  How do we upgrade the os on this system?  We have applied all security updates available in the Apple Update.

I believe that the best you can do is to upgrade to Leopard. You would have to look around to find an upgrade disk.
Snow Leopard requires an intel processor.

The latest, and only available choice is CS6. You have two choices, subscribe to Creative Cloud or buy a new license.
There are no upgrades with the exception of a discount for the first year of the full Creative Cloud.

  • What is the best Path for a J2EE developer with oracle?

    Hi,
I am a J2EE developer, for the time being I work at a Commercial Bank as an enterprise application developer. I have learnt java when I was following a local IT diploma and with the help of books, works at my working place and the internet , today I am developing J2EE applications with JSP,Servlets,JSF2.0,EJB3.0 and third party JSF libraries etc. (I am also developing softwares using other programing languages such as Asp.net, C#.net, WPF etc, but I prefer to be in the java path). Other than that, I'm also working as the UI designer of most of our applications.
I have those skills and practice after working for 4 years as a web/enterprise application developer & a UI designer, but now I have to focus on some paper qualifications and hence I am doing BCS.
Now I want to be a java professional in Oracle's path, and I need to know what is the best path I can select to move with Oracle. I finished my classes of SCJP , but didn't do the exams as there were some rumors that Oracle will dump those exams in the future. I am interested in Oracle university, but I am unable to even think about it as I live in Sri Lanka and don't have that much of financial wealth to go USA and join.
So I really appreciate if any Oracle professional could suggest me the best educational path according to what I mentioned about my technical and career background. Because I have a dream to join Oracle one day as an employee and being a good contributer to the same forum, which I am getting helps today!
    Thanks!!!

As you can see on our website, Oracle did not retire the Java certifications. You can browse through the available certifications and hopefully help to determine your path.

SCJP has now become Oracle Certified Professional Java Programmer. You can find more info on those exams on our website here: http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320.
Regarding training, perhaps live virtual training would be an option for you. You can find more information at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=233.

  • What is the upgrade cycle for DW?

I have an older version of DW and would like to get DW CS4, but don't want to if CS5 is coming out soon. Can someone tell me when to expect this to happen?
    Thanks.

Well just remember Adobe's policy is that you can only upgrade from the previous 3 versions.  So if you have a version prior to MX 2004 you will not be able to upgrade to even CS4.  If you have MX2004 though, CS4 is the last version you will be able to buy at the upgrade rates.  After that you must buy another full license.  If you have 8 or CS3 you can hold off.  It will be released this year and betas for other applications like Flash were stopped to push the public release out sooner, but no definitive date(s) have been announced yet.

  • What are the upgrade options for 2008 MacBook Pro A1260

I am curious to see what my options are to upgrade my hard drive compared to upgrading completely to an entirely new computer.
    Any suggestions?

Reliable ram: http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade.  Very well known vendor, very reasonable prices, and ram comes with a lifetime guarantee.  As far as reliable hard drives, I can give you brands that I have had no problems with.  Hitachi (still running strong 5 years + in a pc laptop), Samsung, and Western Digital.  Here are some reviews on hard drives: http://www.storagereview.com/best_drives

Do we have to mandatorily upgrade first to R12.1.1 and then apply R12.1.3 MP?
Also Please confirm if we have any R12.1.3 software to install? I don't think so but just want to double confirm.

I have a Mac OSX 10.5.8 processor dual 2 ghz powerpc g5 what is the next update for that?

There is none. You are at the end for a PPC machine. To upgrade you need to purchase an Intel Mac.
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • I currently am using ML 10.8.5, what's the best way for me to upgrade to Yosemite 10?

    Hi Folks,
I am currently using ML 10.8.5. What is the best procedure for me to follow to upgrade to Yosemite 10.0?
Is Yosemite stable enough to upgrade to?
I currently am running MAC OSX on an Apple iMac 27 late 2012 with 24GB of system ram, and 1TB Fusion HDD
I have as a back up drive an external 1TB FW800 using Super Duper as cloning of my current 10.8.5
I also use another external FW800 3TB HDD running TM
Many thanks for any helpful suggestions

you can no longer send to a group and now have to look for a + in the right corner and click on each addressee
I welcome that.  Mass e-mails have a downside:
You get implicated in them when you least want to.
You get blocked by internet providers preventing you from sending to your contacts who are on those internet providers even when you haven't sent any, because someone else has you on their address list who does send mass e-mails, and you get "blacklisted."
You get summarily ignored by others if you are believed to be a sender of them, as they will probably use the fact you mass e-mailed as a means of blocking you.
    Use BCC when mass e-mailing.
You can always make your list of e-mails in a comma delimited fashion, and copy/paste it to the field you want.

  • What is the best app for storing all passwords in a secure area? osx snow leopard

What is the best app for storing all passwords in a secure area? osx snow leopard

Keychain is nice, but I prefer to use 1Password. It's got a nice user interface, and does what I need. It stores passwords, notes, identitiy info, credit card info, application registration numbers, saves hardware information such as your router settings, and more. It also has a secure password generator. There's an extension that keeps a button in the browser toolbar for Safari, etc., so you can submit your info (password, credit card) with the click of a button, and without having to type the information in through the website you are visiting. It also pays attention when you are signing in to a website, and asks you if you want to save the login to 1Password. Once you get them all entered, it's a big timesaver.

The link above says it is for OS X 10.7 and up, but if you go to the developer's website (link below), it says it works with OS X 10.6 as well. You can also download a 30-day demo from the link below.

  • What is the folder structure for iTunes for Ver. 11.0.5

What is the folder structure for iTunes for Ver. 11.0.5 since I have iTunes on an external drive at the moment but want to move it back to the HD temporary so as to back it up to TM, the problem is that it seems that the files are some what disarranged and I'm not sure where and how iTune reads them.

Time Machine will back up connected external drives as long as they are not on the exclude list.
Connect the drive with your iTunes library > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options > if the external drive with the iTunes library is listed, select it and click the minus sign then run the Time Machine backup
