What is the use of restriction code in the ipod?

i'm just wondering what's the use of restriction code because i have this problem, i wanted to lock the camera whenever someone takes a picture on my ipod they can't delete and upload it to there computer, so how to will i do that or how to do that thing?

Yes, you can setup/turn on restrictions to prevent use of the Camera app.  See:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch: Understanding Restrictions
Make sure you do not have any third-party camera apps installed and turn on the restriction that prevent installing apps.

  • What is the ipod 4 new model, I mean look at the walmart site, it says (new model) what does that mean?

what is the ipod 4 new model, I mean look at the walmart site, it says (new model) what does that mean? Look at this link :  http://www.walmart.ca/canada-estore/search/searchcontainer.jsp?_DARGS=/canada-es tore/search/fragments/cataloghierarchy.jsp I dont understand, what was the old model?

The 16gb iPod 4 is a new model!  Previously, the iPod Touch 4G came in 8gb, 32gb and 64gb versions.  Apple has stopped shipping those versions and has replaced it with the 16gb iPod 4.  While this is technically the "newest" model (by a day or so), it is not the most technically advanced.  As others have pointed out that it the iPod Touch 5g (32gb and 64gb versions).  So Walmart is not "outdated" or "incorrect", but perhaps a bit deceptive.

I am selling my iPod touch, but I forgot the Restriction Code so I can't reset it and I have a new computer, so all of my Apple stuff isn't there anyway. that is one of the main reason I wanted to sell my iPod because when I got a new computer I lost everything. But now I cant reset it without this code and I don't know what to do. Is there a way I can reset it without the code on my new computer?

  • I forgot my restriction code for my ipod how do I retrieve it or reset it

How do I restart my restriction code or retrieve my forgotten code?

    Hi Azcrow vilon,
If you forgot the Restrictions passcode, the one that you use to enable or disable features on the iPod touch, you'll have to restore the iPod touch to factory settings before you can disable restrictions. These articles provide more details and will walk you through the process:
    iOS: Understanding Restrictions (parental controls)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4213
Tap Enable Restrictions and enter a passcode. You can use the passcode to change your settings or turn off Restrictions. If you lose or forget your Restrictions passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
    Before you restore your device
Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device and transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.
    Restore your iOS device
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary pane, click the Restore button for your device.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart, and you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new or using a previous backup. If your iOS device has cellular service, it will activate after you restore.
    Additional Information
If you get an error message, find out how to fix most update and restore errors.
If your iOS device with cellular service doesn’t activate after restoring, find out how to fix activation issues.
If your iOS device restarts repeatedly or isn’t responding, for example if you see a stopped progress bar or no progress bar, put the device into recovery mode and restore it again.

  • What does "The iPod "Buttons" could not be synced...." mean?

Everytime i plug my iPod in to my computer this warning comes up:
"The iPod “Buttons” could not be synced. The required file is in use."
(Yes my iPod IS called Buttons, sad I know).
What does this mean, does it mean that it isn't updating it?
Does anyone know how I can get rid of this warning?
Or make sure my iPod 'is not in use' when I try to update/sync it?
    1.9Ghz PowerPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   30GB iPod video

Update means going from ver. 1.0 to 1.0.1, which is why my App Store app reflects that I have an update.
Tried about 15 times after doing various things such as correcting permissions and reinstalling the 10.7.3 combo update.

  • What is the iPod Touch's network hostname?

I need to enter my iPod Touch's MAC Address and Hostname in my school account so I can use the school's wireless network. I found the MAC Address but what's the hostname? I would just connect it to a wireless network and look at it that way but I don't have a router and the only wireless network here is the free network provided by the apartment complex I live at and they block computers from seeing each other on the network.

chill dude being rude isnt going to make people help you...
anywyas... you need the host name and password for your schools network
the touch doesnt have its own
you should be able to connect to it by just going to wifi settings on the touch and then it should pop up when ur in school

  • I have lost most of my i tunes library.  Many of the lost songs are are my ipod.  What happens if I load plug my ipod into the computer?  Will I erase whats on the ipod because there'll be no match found on my itunes library.  Or..will I be allowed to mov

I have lost my i tunes library.  Many of my lost songs are on my two nano i pods.
Since I have lost my i tunes library I have re-installed most songs.  However I have a large number of songs on my i pods which I would like to retrieve.  If I try to load my i pods to my computer will I lose the songs which I could not get re-installed to my library but are on the i pods.  Since I lost my library I have not re-introduced my i pods for updating since they too will likely have to be re-installed.  Will I lose the songs already in the i pods if have to re-introduce them to my computer.  A solution to this problem would be for me to transfer my lost library songs from the i pod to my library.  Can this be done?
    1)  Is it possible to retrieve songs from a lost i tunes library?  Withoutout re-loading the entire library (since I have done this manually).
    2)  What happens if I re-introduce my i pods to the computer?  Will this cause me to lose the present i pod installed music?
    3)  Can I transfer my lost songs and albums from my i pods to the i tunes library?

As you will have discovered, the music sync is only one way, from iTunes to the iPod, minus iTunes purchases.  On top of that, an iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.

  • HT2729 what format is used to sync music to an ipod

I have a mac book pro and am trying to sync play lists into my ipod.  I made sure that the setting are on manual.  For a reason that is unknown to me, I am not able to get any playlists into the ipod.  Could it be the format???  If yes, what format should the music be in???
Any help with answers is truly appreciated...

    charlie2177 wrote:

Whatever format it is already in.  iTunes does not convert the music simply for syncing to an iDevice.
If you are trying to sync a playlist, select the Music tab, select sync Music then tell iTunes what playlists to sync.

  • What is the iPod file that stores ratings?

All i want to know is what is the file on the iPod that stores the ratings for the songs? I don't think that the ratings get stored on each individual song file as when you transfer them back to the computer they simply disapear along with the song counts. So there must be a file on the iPod that stores the rating and song count information. Anyone know what it is?

iTunes maintains a database file of things like play counts, ratings, your playlists, etc. In Windows it is the .itl file found in the iTunes folder.

  • I had to reset my computer and re-download itunes. i already have music on my ipod that i want to keep, if i sync it will it delete whats on the ipod already or will it add the content to itunes?

    really need help with this

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back UP
    - Restore the iPod from that backup

  • What keeps the iPod nano from quitting after a minute of play?

I'm trying to use the iPod nano in my truck and it plays for 1 minute and then quits

The headphones have to be plugged all the way in. They almost snap in when they are totally connected.

  • What is the iPod transfer (ACC-AIFF) rate

I upgraded my system and now have a larger HD.
I reentered most of the songs in AIFF whereas prior they were ACC.
I have a 6og iPOD and all the songs will not fit if the iPOD loads them as AIFF.
Does the iPOD transfer at the rate that the iTunes songs are imported or are they adjusted to ACC or MP3 ?
If not can I change the iPOD transfer rate setting and/or only transfer from certain playlists similar to the iPhoto ability.
    Thanks,
    Greg

*Where are the settings for the iPod ? - I only noticed them when I have my iPod attached to the computer.*
That's correct you'll only see the iPod preferences when your iPod is connected and showing in iTunes.
*Otherwise if I attach the iPod it will try and download the entire iTunes library.*
If your iPod is set to update automatically you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings Once you are connected you can access and change the settings: iTunes for Mac - Keyboard Shortcuts
