What is the version of the nvidia drivers in Bootcamp 5.0?

It's a question out of curiosity given Apple's release of new Bootcamp drivers for Windows 7 and 8 and the usual MO of Apple releasing outdated drivers. Are the BC 5.0 drivers for nvidia on the 3XX.XX version number or lower?
Thanks for your time!

  • NVidia Drivers in Bootcamp are OLD!!!!

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro 15" I5 with the 330m Nvidia graphics card (256)
The nVidia drivers in bootcamp are 196.21, currently 257.21 is out. Apple, you are 61 versions OUT-OF-DATE. Update your stupid drivers so Mac users can actually play games! OR tell us how we can circumvent this install issue.
    Here is what I've tried:
    1. Go download latest (257.21) drivers from nVidia website.
    2. Try to install and get a message saying there are no drivers for my hardware. It doesn't know that it can update it. See reason below
    3. I've done the manual install and that doesn't work either, Windows says its not compatible.
    4. Trying beta drivers now.
Please don't tell me to go to LaptopVideo2Go because that doesn't work at all, those drivers are for computers and manufacturers that are ON NVidia's support opt-in list for graphics drivers.
If you are going to put these "awesome and magical" graphics cards in then either UPDATE your drivers and stay CURRENT or opt-in and have nvidia do all the work.
    I'm NEVER buying another Mac...EVER!!!!

It had a lot of freezes with the old driver, but today I found the solution:
    1. Go to the nVidia driver download page: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
    2. Go for "Option1: Manually find drivers for my NVIDIA products."
    Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 300M Series (Notebook)
    Product: GeForce GTS 360M
Operating System: Your OS (I used Windows 7 64-bit)
Language: Your Language (I used US)
    3. Download the driver. At the time of writing this, the current version was 260.89, the filename of the download was 260.89notebook_winvista_win7_64bit_internationalwhql.exe
    4. Start the installation and made sure to check the "clean install" option.
The installation should go through without any trouble.
After restarting, all my problems with freezes and sometime sluggish behaviour was gone. Seriously made my day...
    Hope that helps.

  • Satellite P500-12D - Can I use the nVidia drivers?

The Latest NVIDIA Drivers on the Toshiba update website are 8.15.11.8642 but there are newer versions on the NVIDIA website. I would like ot update the NVIDIA Drivers but I am having difficalties.
I tried to install version 195.62 (Win7 64bit) for the Geforce 200M Series fron the NVIDIA SITE but the install doesn't complete. I get the message: "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."
Does Toshiba only allow their own versions of the drivers? Is there a way to allow the NVIDIA drivers to istall?

    Hi
Counter question: Why you want to use other display drivers? Are you not satisfied with the Toshiba drivers or can you notice any problems in Windows?
Theoretically its possible to use the drivers from nVidia directly but dont forget that they are not pretested on your notebook. Your graphic card could be overheating and so you will loose the warranty.
Satellite P500 is pretty new so I assume Toshiba will update the display driver in next time too. Just have a look on the page from time to time. ;)

  • [SOLVED] What is the nvidia-304xx-lts?

What is the nvidia-304xx-lts driver for a card? What is it for special about the "lts" ?
Last edited by amandus (2013-03-24 07:17:15)

This particular version enjoys long-term support (LTS) from upstream(NVIDIA), including security fixes and some feature backports, especially useful for Arch users seeking for the most stable packages arround.
But you must remember that because this packages are less times updated, it may come without support for some newer cards and capabilities.

  • [Unsolved] Awesome, Composition, xinerama and the Nvidia drivers.

I have a setup that uses the Awesome WM, 3 monitors under xinerama, and the proprietary nvidia drivers, and I find conflicting information about the compatibility between xinerama, compositing and the nvidia drivers. At the moment trying to run a composition manager (xcompmgr and cario) the whole screen except for the awesome menu bar turns a single color (grey for xcomp, and black for cairo) and my machine locks up.
    The arch wiki ( https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Composite ) says these don't work together but wikipedia does ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xinerama#cite_note-2 ).
    Help?

From what I understand, the commit cited in the wikipedia article only removes an artificial barrier to simultaneous Xinerama+Compositing but does not address the structural incompatibilities or fix any related bugs, so your X server will happily try to use them together and fail miserably. It is really a red herring. I have never heard of a single setup where they have worked together - some dev has just swept the problem further under the rug.
My guess is nobody wants to invest the time, hoping Wayland will make it irrelevant in a few years.

  • What are the teradata drivers required to connect to the teradata cube??

    Hi All,
Using voyager connection in the infoview , we are connecting to the cube to generate reports. But we are not able to connect to the server and see the cube.
We asume that we need to have specific teradata drivers to connect to the cube, so Could anyone let me know what could be the Teradata drivers to connect to the cube???
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sudharam

Not in one of the currently available versions. You may want to open a case by SAP support (http://service.sap.com/support) and ask if they plan to support it in a future version.
Still I will recommend to try to contact some teradata expert here and ask if it is possible to access the cubes over the ODBC driver.

  • Where i download the mac drivers for bootcamp

I want to do a partition with bootcamp for windows 7, and i saw in a tutorial that i need a CD with the mac drivers for the keyboard and trackpad... I havent got that CD... Where can i download it? lot of thanks!

What year/model computer do you have? On older computers the Windows Support software is on the OS install CD. On newer computers the Windows Support software is downloaded from within Boot Camp Assistant, there is a menu item in Boot Camp Assistant to download the Windows Support software. Follow the instructions.

  • What about the vista drivers for the audigy seri

now that the xifi vista drivers are out, when can we expect the (non-beta) vista drivers for the audigy series?

Actually, you can use the X-Fi-Drivers for the A2ZS. Simply unpack the install-file (e.g. with WinRAR) and run the setup.exe in the "Drivers"-folder. The Audio-Console will be installed too, you'll find it in your "windows/system32"-folder by the name "CtPanel.exe". I use the x64-bit version of Windows Vista, so the AudioConsole for this version couldn't see the installed Audigy-driver for some reason. After I've copied the CtPanel.exe from "yourunpackedinstallfolder/Drivers/wdm/common/i386" to the System32-folder, the Console worked as it should.Because the Console has not the best variety of the options, I've also tried to install the creative-programms from my CD. I could install the "Speaker-Settings"-tool, and it works fine. But the Surround-Mixer seems not to work under Vista, mooving the sliders has no affects on the real volume. I hope, Creative will release the good-working Software-Suite for Windows Vista, I really don't want to argue with the Audio-Console.Message Edited by theLost on 03-08-2007:28 AM

  • Lion is unable to connect to the internet to download the windows drivers for bootcamp...how do I fix this?

I have just bought a new Macbook Pro, running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2. I don't have any restore discs (obviously) being that they don't come with the macbooks anymore. I keep getting an error message when I try to download the drivers using the bootcamp assistant, telling me that the assistant can't connect to the internet, and asks me if I want to troubleshoot, despite being connected just fine. I'm not running any type of firewall that would prevent a connection for the assistant and am at lost as to what the issue could possibly be. Would be appreciative of any assistance here.

  • [SOLVED] Error with Nvidia Drivers (following the Beginner's Guide)

I followed the beginner's installation guide and everything worked fine all the way up untill updating the kernel module dependencies using the "depmod -a" command..
First I created the "xorg.conf" file with the "nvidia-xconfig" command and it said:
Make sure all instances of DRI are commented out:
    #    Load        "dri"
However, there are no instances of "dri" in my xorg.conf file, so i skipped this step and moved on.
    Next it said:
Double check your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to make sure your default depth, horizontal sync, vertical refresh, and resolutions are acceptable.
But I don't know what they should be set to, so I skipped this and moved on again.
    This is where everything fails:
The next step is to use the following command to update the kernel module dependencies for the nVidia drivers.
    depmod -a
But when i do that, it fails.
Anyone know possibly why or has had this issue?

PirateJonno wrote:um, I don't think you can just 'do' a kernel update, you have to wait for a new one to come out first
You can run any kernel version you wish on Arch, if you compile yourself, of course.
trustktr wrote:Hmmmm, yeah, that is a good question: When to run depmod -a?
When you first install the proprietary drivers. That's it, unless you will be maintaining a custom kernel system or something. In fact, the proprietary drivers might even run the depmod script themselves, I don't know, since it is a black box binary. Makes sense, but someone else would need to answer that.
EDIT: Also wanted to add that many shell commands throw no output whatsoever upon successful completion. Therefore, the absence of error output can be interpreted as no error. Just FYI.

  • The new nvidia drivers, weird color blending

i tried all the nvidia drivers, but all what comes after the 53.3 have a weird color blending problem, and i can't fix it.
the problem is visibale if u r looking to an image with gradient color, u'll c it as if it's not correctly blended, and this goes weird when u work with photo editing and retouching an image, u'll think that ur work is bad.
i got to fix the prob, temporaly , by accessing the advanced tab of timing, if i just edit any number the colors go ok, once i press ok and apply, everything remain as the original, and the problem is here again.
do u have anysuggestions plz, anyhelp will be much appreciated.

man, what software are u talking about (did i mentioned any test software?)
the problem i'm facing is the color blending in all drivers after 53.3 is not showing right, the gradient still showed degrade and not fully blended, as if u turn ur display to 24 bit, instead of 32bit, but actually the result i get is like the image is displayed at 28 bit
u can't know what i'm talking about , but if u try it by urself, just open an image in photoshop or any editing application, choose any image that have a gradient shown well, and c it, u'll notice that gradient is not fully smooth, it's kind of steped, and to b sure, fill a scratch background by the linear gradient tool (black, white) and c the disaster, there is no smooth intermediate grey section, u'll c steped.
    i hope it's clear dude.

  • Can't get the nvidia module to work.

    Hi,
I just moved a machine from debian to archlinux due to the newer packages. Anyways, since yesterday I have been trying to get the nvidia module to work but haven't had no luck. Basically I get a black screen once I run startx and afterwards I can't switch back to any of the consoles. The system doesn't hang because I can SSH into it from another machine and do whatever. Killing all the x-related processes doesn't recover the screen, only restarting the computer gets the ttys back.
I have tried several different nvidia module versions include 1.0-7664, 1.0-7174 and 1.0-6229. I have also the stock 2.6.11.10 kernel and a custom compiled 2.6.11.11 kernel. If that wasn't enough I have tried the xorg generated xorg.conf file and the hwd generated xorg.conf file. Below is what I am running.
    xorg 11R6.8.2-2
eVGA nVidia GeForce FX5200 (The LCD is connected through the regular VGA port)
    xorg.conf: http://68.190.122.245:9696/temp/xorg.conf
    Xorg.0.log: http://68.190.122.245:9696/temp/Xorg.0.log
    nvidia-installer.log: http://68.190.122.245:9696/temp/nvidia-installer.log
    `hwd -s` output: http://68.190.122.245:9696/temp/hwd_s.txt
    Any help is really appreciated!

Nice to see logs and confs posted
just to be sure we are singing from the same hymnbook, have you:
-- followed the wiki info  as your logs show the DRI section still intact (bottom of xorg.conf)
    and from wiki,
-- installed nvidia via pacman, with X server shut down. and then modified xorg.conf accordingly.
    # Auto-generated by Archie mkxcfg
    ? Archie ?
-- following the kernel upgrade did you then run pacman -S nvidia, as above,  to incorporate it with the new kernel ?
    other tidbits
maybe try backing up xorg.conf first and then removing redundant lines #'s etc to make your config file more readable, and 1, 4, 15 bit resolution entries too.
The last time i had the blackscreen was in Fedora, it was mentioned that a kernel patch by fedora, was fouling the nvidia drivers. So i blamed fedora, chipsets, patches, drivers, witchcraft etc. Swapped to arch , followed the WIKI destructions and all worked ok. so im sure it can be solved here too.
FWIW my xorg.conf can be found here  if you want something to refer to. in the interests of jurisprudence, copy/modify at your own risk.  i cant/wont pay for fried monitors
incidentally nv in the Section did work for me instead of nvidia but was no real solution as i wanted to use GL and it wouldnt work with it, just runs a generic vga driver and not the nvidia one.
    persevere dude, and good luck.

  • [Solved] Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module

    Hi all,
I've just made the jump to arch and have a fresh install. I'm having trouble getting the nvidia drivers to work. I am currently using the nouveau drivers without issue.
The method I am using - after much trial - is:
    - uninstall nouveau and mesa lib
    - install nvidia package
    - remove nouveau module entry in mkinitcpio.conf
    - run `mkinitcpio -p linux`
    - edit .conf in xorg.conf.d with minimal required settings. Currently:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "device0"
    Driver "nvidia"
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    EndSection
I have installed the linux-headers package and tried reinstalling nvidia again

The only entry I found in `dmesg | grep nvidia` related to nvidia-drm, and seemed to say it was loaded successfully. I didn't save the exact entry and i've reinstalled nouveau now so that I could post this.
Any help much appriciated. I've been at this for a while. Learning a lot in the process!

Success! Several days of trying various things and I finally give in and make a post to this forum. One more attempt - which was only really so that I could add modprobe info to this post - and it works.
I had at some stage installed the driver xf86-video-nv, and this may have been causing the clash. I un-installed it, and followed the procedure above to reinstall nvidia.
I think the main hang up I'd had is that I had not been rebuilding my kernel image with mkinitcpio after installing nvidia during my previous attempts.
I hope some info in here helps some other stuck archer.
Edit: Thanks graysky. I had found the right nvidia driver using the arch wiki and followed this advice to remove the nouveau hook. Much appriciated.
