What is the wiring for the SHC68-68-EPM cable?

Can someone please verify for me that the wiring for the SHC68-68-EPM is sequential all the way across the connectors? It looks to me like pins 1 through 34 at the end with the 0.8 mm connector go to pins A1 through A34 at the .050 connector, (as AMP numbers them), and pins 35 through 68 go to B1 through B34. I just want to be absolutely sure before I lay out my printed circuit board. Thanks.

The following KB article should help:

It appears that the pin mappings are the same on both sides (.050 and VHDCI)

  • Cinema 30" - What is the Dual Link DVI Cable Length?

Planning my install, but can't find out how long the DVI cable is in length on the 30" Cinema display.
Anyone know or can measure their cable?
    Thanks!

Cable is 2m. Not sure what the +/- tolerance is, but figure 5cm. And the breakout ends for USB, etc. are a little bit longer, just enough to allow them to reach their mating ports on a system.

  • SHC68-68-EPM compatible panel mount connectors

I am building some custom hardware. I want the front panel to connect to two SHC68-68-EPM cables (and thence to a PCI-6229 M series DAQ card).
From the support section, I know that the cable connector is the AMP 749699-7. I've spent ages looking for a suitable panel mount connector that accepts the SHC68-68-EPM cable. The problems are
    1. The vast majority of panel mount connectors are female, not male as they need to be here.
    2. The only male panel mount connectors are designed for board mounting as well. They attach to the board and panel with typically M2.5 screws, and latch to the cable with a latch system. Unfortunately, there is no way to retrofit latches to the SHC68-68-EPM cable because the backshell looks to be a custom moulding (with the NI logo on it), rather than an AMP standard part.
I also have a couple of CB-68LPR NI breakout PCBs. I can't use these directly in the enclosure because they are
    1. Too big.
    2. The AMP 2-174225-5 PCB connector on these is not designed for panel mount.
So, it's quite obscure, but can anyone recommend a connector that is panel mount, male (i.e. plug) and locks to the SHC68-68-EPM cable through a pair of jackscrews? Someone must have wanted to build custom hardware to interface to NI cables (?).
    Thanks!

    Hi,
unfortunately, there isn't a femal to male converter for these connectors from NI, although I don't know about AMP.
which means unfortunately you'll need to talk to AMP on this.

  • Power cable confusion - what's the second cable for?

Apologies in advance for the bonehead question.
I just received my black MacBook, and it works just fine. I'm charging it in a wall plug right now. It's the other cable that has me confused.
The cable is twice as thick as the other one, about 60 inches long, and terminates in (1) the standard three-prong plug and (2) two holes on the other side. The "two-holes" don't fit anything on my iMac or Macbook, and although it appears they're for AC power, there's no adapter included.
What's the point of this cable? What does the three-pronged plug fit into, and how?
Thank, and try not to laugh too hard.

You slide the two prong adapter off the wall wart. The plug that fits into the wall slides off the brick. This is where the extension fits. It replaces this two plug connector and gives you a nice long grounded cable.

I would like to know what is the default timouts for wired/ wireless devices ..and how to reset it on Extreme.  Many thanks

Wireless is "always on" with the AirPort Extreme. There are no settings to "time out" wireless on the AirPort Extreme. Those settings would be adjusted on each individual computer.

  • For EOS Rebel SL1 what is the correct wired remote shutter/timer?

I'm looking at getting a Rebel SL1 for someone.  She'll want to do long exposures(bulb).  What is the correct model of wired remote timer?  The website shows the RC-6 (which seems to just be a wireless shutter) but not the wired remote.  The instruction manual shows a jack but doesn't indicate what model remote or what time of jack.

For wire shutter release, you'll need the Canon RS60-E3

  • What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP's?

What are the features supported in Cisco Prime Infrastructure for WLAN for autonomous AP’s?

    • PI provides visibility for autonomous  clients within the same list view as lightweight and wired clients (client list  page).
    • Rogue AP detection for autonomous AP's is not supported (it's  supported in CUWN).
    • Alarms/events for client authentication issues (e.g.  authentication failure) are displayed in PI.
    • Config management for  autonomous AP's is via CLI template.  Config comparison and archiving  functionality in PI leverages these same features that were brought in from LMS,  so need to defer to others in terms of whether this is a cross-platform feature  in PI or is only supported on a subset of platforms.  Config comparison/archive  is supported in CUWN.PI supports both infrastructure (e.g. AP Tx Power and  Channel, busiest AP, AP utilization, etc.) and client (e.g. client count, client  sessions, etc.) reports, and there are extensive reports for CUWN

  • What are the best settings to use for the newest AirPort Extreme (AC wifi) with my optimum online service provider?

I have the current generation of the AirPort Extreme and a handful of devices that utilize the new 5Ghz A/C frequency. My internet speeds were blazing fast when I had first set it up but lately it has been lagging terribly. I was told that changing my dhcp did help, which it did it seems like it might be back to its normal speeds but I just want to know what are the best settings to configure for the airport so that I can get the most out of my service on all my devices? I'm using a CAT 6 cable which does help, I have a guest wifi setup with a wifi password which I understand will slow it down a little. Can anyone just point me in the right direction or just give me a step by step guide on what settings to configure? Should I really consider turning off the guest network?

I am assuming that you are looking to configure your network to provide the highest level of bandwidth possible for your network clients. If that is the case, the following are a few things to consider:
The Internet modem should support Gigabit Ethernet. That is the Ethernet connection between the modem and your 802.11ac AirPort Extreme should be Gigabit Ethernet.
Use CAT-5e or CAT-6 Ethernet cables between all wired connections.
Only expect 802.11ac performance with 802.11ac clients in the same room as the base station.
Eliminate or significantly reduce any forms of Wi-Fi interference on both the 2.4 & 5 GHz bands.
When streaming, especially HD video on your local network, use wired connections between the host and player devices when possible.
Other than the above suggestions there are no "magic" settings that you can make on your AirPort. Note: The Guest network shares the same bandwidth as the "main" network. Unless you have a network goal to provide this type of network, it is best left disabled.

  • What is the wiring digram on the MacBook Pro 3.5 mm TRRS jack?

What is the wiring digram for the 3.5 mm TRRS audio jack on the late model MacBook Pros?
I assume this is the same as the iPhone and iPad as well.
    BACKGROUND
I am trying to setup my late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15" for studio recording and live broadcast (webinars) leveraging my Mackie 802-VLZ3 mixer.
I used to run this setup on my 2009 MBP (Macbook Pro) 17"; however, that machine met its doom (when I bathed it in 64 oz of beer). So now I am trying to use my 2013 MBPR 15". The main issue here is that the newer MBPs have a single 3.5 mm TRRS jack (vs. the separate 3.5mm separate jacks for headphones and mic on the MBP 17).
So I purchased a 3.5 mm TRRS plug to 3xRCA connectors (red, white, and yellow) cable from Amazon (because I so no such thing in the Apple Store).
          MIXER
    +--------------+      RCA
    | AUX-RETURN-L <<-----(•)--[WHT]----+
    |              |                    |
    | AUX-RETURN-R <<-----(•)--[RED]----+----[3.5mm TRRS]>>[MBPR 3.5 mm JACK]
    |              |                    |
    |     AUX-SEND <<-----(•)--[YEL]----+
    +--------------+
Normally the speakers should be RED (R channel) and WHITE (L channel) and the mic should be YELLOW. However, OS X 10.10 did not recognize the external mic and my mixer only got the left audio from the MBPR.
          MIXER
    +--------------+      RCA
    | AUX-RETURN-L <<-----(•)--[WHT]----+
    |              |                    |
    | AUX-RETURN-R <<-----(•)--[YEL]----+----[3.5mm TRRS]>>[MBPR 3.5 mm JACK]
    |              |                    |
    |     AUX-SEND <<-----(•)--[RED]----+
    +--------------+
In this configuration the MBPR recognized both external speakers and microphone. However, the computer gets no audio from my mixer (unity gain).
So I am trying to figure out the wiring digram as the ground/mic connections might be off.

    Here is an update...
I am using a cable that is like this on the Mac's 3.5 mm TRRS jack:
      | |  Sleeve --> Micropone Tip
      +-+
      | |  Ring 2 --> Ground (both Sleeves)
      +-+
      | |  Ring 1 --> Headphones Ring
      +-+
      \_/  Tip    --> Headphones Tip
While my mac will recognize the external speakers, it does not recognize the external microphone.
    Anyone understand why?

I have a airport time capsule, an older airport extreme, and an older airport express.  I want to hard wire my Mac Mini to the network.  What is the best arrangement of the devices?  which ones should be hard wired to optimize extending the network?

I am using TM Unifi with an ASUS RT-N18U Wi-Fi router.  I would like to know could I use Apple AirPort Time Capsule to extend (repeater, booster) my Wi-Fi to a part of the house where the Wi-Fi signal is poor
Yes,, if you plan to connect the AirPort Time Capsule to the ASUS router using an Ethernet cable connection that will remain fixed and permanently installed at all times.
No, if you were planning to have the AirPort Time Capsule connect wirelessly and extend the Asus WiFi signal, since it would not be compatible with another manufacturer's router for that purpose.
Another way of saying the same thing here would be that if you want to extend the network wirelessly, it will take two Apple routers to do so

  • What are the correct Premiere Pro CS4 settings for producing WMV/MP4 to FLV/F4V videos?

    Greetings.
I have recently purchased CS4 Production Suite.  My task is to convert WMV/MP4 videos to FLV/F4V videos that contain titles, transitions, and credits for streaming from Flash Media Server.
My test videos are experiencing audio sync issues when using Adobe Media Encoder as the export tool.  When I use Flash Video Export tool using the source WMV/MP4, I do not experience sync issues.
I can control the WMV/MP4 output settings since we record our own sessions using Windows Media Encoder.  I can also utilize Flash Media Live Encoder to capture the source.
The video source comes from a video capture card (Osprey) that is connected to an IP based camera(s) which are controlled by video technicians.
We record from that capture card into WMV format.
My question is, what are the settings in Premiere to produce FLV/F4V for streaming in 480p quality?
I am new to video production and gladly appreciate any assistance.
    Regards,

    Jim,
Thank you for your response.  I am a total noob at video, but have the requirement to produce recorded video to our FMS servers.
Here is my situation.  We have classrooms and auditoriums hard wired with IP cameras.  Our video techs can record to DVR and then finalize to DVD (VOB).  We also have a control center that can capture those cameras using Windows Media Encoder to record.
I have been given CS4 to produce these videos.  Each time that I transcode, the audio gets out of sync.  I am trying to figure out a suitable way to take VOB and WMV files into PP and output to FLV/MP4.
    Appreciate any advice...

  • What is the best wireless internet connections for a Macbook

I have been trying to wirelessly connect a Macbook for internet connection. What is the best router that can be purchased for Macbook that will also work with a PC.

Yes, it shouldn't matter. I just picked up an Airport Express tonight - VERY easy to setup and works like a charm. One caution - Express is a wireless router ONLY. There are no additional wired ports on it for wired systems in your house. You'll take the cable that comes from your DSL modem out of your computer, and put into the port on the Express (if you already have a wired computer). If you need a wired/wireless router, you'll require the Extreme model.

Got a new HDTV (Samsung 55") and I want to display my laptop screen on it.  So what is the easiest way (least expense, least wiring, least obtrusive s/w) for me to do this?

All you need to do is use a simple HDMI cable and connect it to yoru HDMI port on your Retina display model to an HDMI port on your brand-new 55" Samsung.

  • What's the life expectancy for airport express

My wi-fi signal from my airport express seems to be getting weaker every month for about 3 months now.
Is that the ap express or something else?

The signal that you are getting is on the low side. If you are within 10-15 feet of the Express, it should look more like 60-65%. Noise is about average. Any obstructions in the signal path?
It's more complicated, but also more accurate to use SNR measurements to get an idea of signal quality. Post back if you want more info about this.
"Automatic" is usually your best choice since the Express will scan available channels and pick the best one. But, it won't do this "automatically". You have to pull the power on the device and restart it for it to perform a  new scan. You may find yourself needing to do this daily. In a tough interference area, that is not unusual.
You can certainly experiment with setting the channels manually, but which channel to choose?  Utilities like iStumbler will not display "closed" or "hidden" networks....and a lot of users make use of this feature to "hide" their network....so if iStumber "sees" 7-8 networks, there are others....probably another 4-5 at least.....that iStumber cannot "see", so no way to know what channel they are using.
iStumber cannot "see" cordless phones or wireless security systems as well, so it's really more of a guessing game than a logical approach to choosing the "right" channel.
If all of your devices can connect using 5 GHz, there are only a fraction of wireless networks using that band...for now...so there are far fewer interference issues in this airspace.
The Apple Store can certainly test your AirPort Express....but you already know what will likely happen if you take it to them....it will perform perfectly there.
Move the Express as far away as possible from anything else that is electronic and also away from any wiring from the satellite box or cable box...that can cause issues as well. Turn off the cordless phones for a few hours....if you have them....to see if that might make a difference.
