There is a black bar on the screen that tells you where you are on the screen ....what is this called and how do you turn it off?

What does "item XUL is in use" mean and how do I turn it off?
It trying to install upgrade, I am asked to replace older item with newer one and I click Replace. Then I get a message "The operations can't be completed because the item "XUL" is in use.
What does that mean and how do I proceed?If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

I've been having an issue with assistive touch, every time I open an app. the AT disappears the from the screen and I have to turn it off and ON again. Is there a way to fix this?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

Firefox has remberd a password to a website ... chessatwork and I get loged in to my main page and when I click on any link it takes me right back to my log in page, where it has it stored.... password and user name,,, whats up and how do I turn that off? chessatwork has ran great for me for many yrs, then one day I down loaded firefox and went to play chess on this site chessatwork.com, well the window popped up asking to remember the log in and pass word and so I said ok, and it did, but now when I click log in and I go to my main page (home) and click on any link, say to play game I return right back to log in

I've been sent a scan of a document as an attachment. Clicking on it, I get the message, "Pixel aspect ration correction is for preview purposes only. Turn it off for maximum image quality." What is pixel aspect ration and how do I turn it off?
It's "aspect ratio", not aspect "ration".
It's what determines whether you have square pixels ("normal") or, if rectangular pixels, what the aspect ratio (width : length) of that rectangle is.
It's explained in the Help files. I cannot go into more detail because you have neglected to provide information about your platform and exact version of Photoshop.

It's something that is installed and running on your system. If you are on Windows, check with the Task Manager's Processes tab, and end it from there.

What is this black dialog bar and how do I turn it off?
I started up my MBP today and found this little piece of garbage on the screen, telling me what I'm doing. I just updated my software last night, including iTunes; is this some crappy part of an OS X update? It happens when I have all applications closed, as well.
Strange thing is, it wasn't happening when I first restarted my computer after installing the new software updates. Does anyone know what this is and how I can close it?

It's annoying when you don't want to bebug, I agree, but the
situation
you're describing is really useful when you need to debug
Flash content in a
browser. ;)

Assuming you have the FLA source file, open it in the Flash
authoring
tool and head over to File > Publish Settings. Select the
Flash tab, then
uncheck the "Permit debugging" checkbox, then republish the
SWF.

What does the shortcut control-3 and control-4 do, and how can I turn it off?
I'm trying to create some macros and remap my keyboard for a game, but running into some issues not being able to remap control-3 and control-4. I finally figured out that control-1 and 2 were used by Mission Control, and once that was off I gained control over those keys. But for the life of me I can't figure out what control-3 and control-4 do. I've searched various shortcut lists, but none seem to list this combination (except that it controlled Spaces, but that's gone with the new OSX).
Does anyone know what these keys are shortcuts for and how I can release them? Thanks!user293, you must not understand what I mean, because this particular thing is brand new this past week. (I guess you think I am talking about a closely related thing, because I know that most of the way it is now has been this way for a while.)

The header says Bookmarks and under that is a search box then expandable items that include Bookmarks Toolbar, Bookmarks Menu, and Unsorted Bookmarks. I want to turn it off because it takes up too much screen real estate when I am browsing.
I am running Windows Vista 32-bit and Firebox 4.0.1'''{ Ctrl + B }''' opens and close the Bookmarks Sidebar.

I have spent hours upon hours trying to figure out what is wrong and why I cannot complete a hot sync with my computer. I have done a hard reset and reinstalled the palm desktop software numerous times with no luck. I bought a book on the palm. No mention in the book about this particular problem.
Can anyone out there help me with this problem??? I would be forever grateful!!

Post relates to: Palm TXTo check which applications are installed on your palm, you can click on the home button on your palm and make sure it says "all" on the top right of your screen. This will show you all the apps installed on your palm. Look through all the applications listed there and see if there is anything extra. You can list them here and I will tell you if there is anything that didnt come with your device when you purchased it.
You will not need the palm cd to reinstall everything again after you do a hard reset because all the info will be backed up on your computer from your sync. You stated that all the information is on your computer after you sync'd so you dont have to worry about losing it. Once you sync again after performing the hard reset, you will be able to get all the info back again on your palm.
