What is this button / tool / feature ?

After upgrading Firefox to v.29, next to the new Open Menu button there is what at first sight appears to be a blank space but which on closer inspection has six grey dots forming a triangle in the lower right hand corner, giving it the appearance of a resizing tool. By clicking and dragging on it, I can change the width of the Firefox window, in just the same way as clicking-and-dragging on the right border of the Firefox window. If I right-click on it and choose "Remove from Toolbar" it disappears, but reappears as soon as I restart Firefox.
Is this simply a redundant resizer (or, more accurately, "re-widther")? If so, is there any way to get rid of it?

The image is very small that I almost deleted it. Can you possibly take a bigger screenshot?
Can you give me a screenshot so I know what you're seeing? Please see [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]] to create a screenshot<br>
Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the '''Browse...''' button below the ''Post your reply'' box. This will help us to visualize the problem.
Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting.<br>
*Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
*At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
*Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.
Can you try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if Firefox works properly with no error? You can start Firefox in Safe Mode below:
*'''Windows/Mac''': Go to Help > Restart with add-ons disabled
*'''Linux''': Run ''firefox -safe-mode'' in the Terminal/Konsole
<b>If Firefox opens up fine with no problems, it's probably one of your extensions that's causing the issue. You can re-enable your add-ons one by one until you find the one that causes the issue upon being re-enabled.</b>

  • What does this button on my keyboard do?

    There is a button on my computer keyboard; at the top-left of the numeric keypad, just below the reduce-volume button; it's like a parallelogram with a big cross (X) through it. - What does this button do? - I can't seem to find a use for it.
    Also, while we're talking buttons, the buttons above the arrow keys seem to correspond to Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down on PC's, but they seem (annoyingly) to perform slightly different functions. - Any explanations?
    And finally, I know you can get a hash symbol using various modifier-key combinations, but it's so much simpler on a PC when you can see it above the 3 number. (Especially on a music computer when you need it frequently as the sharp sign).

    I've found it interesting to learn that on some Apple keyboards, the button in question has the word "clear" marked on it (and nothing else).
    My button doesn't have 'clear' on it, or any words, just this symbol of a crossed-out parallelogram. (It's in exactly the same place as the 'clear' key, but performs no delete function that I can tell).
    I can't find a good picture, but you can sort of make it out here:

  • What's This? tool in RH 8

    I am researching new ways of presenting context sensitive help, instead of opening a topic from the full help. Cannot find info about What's this?
    I want to know what the output looks like. Is it in a 'bubble', does it appear when you hover over a field in the product, or must you click a link?
    Has anyone had success using this tool?

    Hi Sue
    If you want to see "What's this" help in actual use, hopefully you have Windows XP. I don't think I've seen any What's this since migrating to Windows 7. Not sure about Vista. Anyhoo, if you have XP, just open Microsoft Paint. (Click Start > Run > Type MSPAINT into the Run dialog and press Enter).
    From paint, click File > Save As and you should see a dialog similar to below. See the Question Mark in the upper right coner? Click it and the cursor changes.
    Click the item you want information on and if it's available, a description will be presented.
    Hopefully this helps with providing what you were looking for.
    Cheers... Rick

  • What is this brush tool?

    This might be very stupid, because it is, but one day I was trying the different brush tools in elements 9 and I drew this white light with blue coming off the edges. As if it were a light. This was a default tool (I chose the colours of course, ignore the black background) However now i've tried to find it but can't draw this anymore, it was a default tool and setting so I'd like to be able to create this sort of thing in just one click again, can anyone tell me what brush type (along with any settings for the brushes) would be used to make this. Thank you for your help!

    Then follow the steps that Terri_F posted (starting with a black background):
    Start with a soft-edged brush of fairly large size:  550px or more.
    Set the Mode to "Screen".
    Choose a foreground colour which will become the diffuse glow -- a blue, in this case.
    Left-click once to establish the outer extent of the diffuse glow.
    Without moving the brush, hit the "[" key a few times to reduce the size of the brush and left-click.
    Repeat step 5.

  • What's this 'Zoom' feature in Safari?

    I was wondering what exactly do you do with this 'Zoom' feature in Safari 3.1.1. When I hit 'Zoom' the window just resizes. But I don't think anything gets zoomed in. So, what's this feature for? How to get this thing working?

    Hi,
    Oddly enough, I just tried that, and all it did was to make the page bigger, but it also 'zoomed' in to your posting, in much the same way as clicking on the green button does. I suspect that it's tool that enables us to go to a particular part of a page (such as the postings in these forums) rather than have to scroll through them. I've also discovered, that to click on minimise sends the page to the dock, so you would do better to click on the green button to restore the page to a more workable size, or to the window size before you clicked on Zoom.

    Hmm. The problem still may be the RAM - Apple buys the RAM it puts in its machines from third-party vendors (usually Hynix) so it could be a RAM problem.
    There are a couple of things that you can do yourself before taking your machine into an Apple Store or an AASP... download and run an application named Rember that will run a RAM test for you - let it run for a couple of hours or even overnight. If it turns out that your RAM is faulty, Rember will let you know. If it is faulty, then you have a couple of options - replace the RAM yourself or (particularly if you're under warranty still) take the machine to an Apple Store or AASP and have them replace the RAM.
    If Rember finds no fault with the RAM, then you'll need to take it into an Apple Store/AASP and get a free diagnosis on the machine. Three beeps do usually indicate faulty RAM, but if it tests good with Rember you likely have another problem - it could be something as simple as the RAM, somehow, not seated correctly or signs of another hardware problem.
    Run Rember first... call back with results.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    Here's a screenshot showing the particular links on the page that you should be clicking:
    After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
    Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
    When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • MM - PO - what is the meaning of this button?

    Dear friends,
    Could anybody help me with one question.
    There is a strange button in a Purchasing Order on the Account Assignment tab page on this screenshot (it is marked with red color).
    Screenshot below
    http://content.foto.mail.ru/mail/raiden87/81/i-84.jpg
    What is the meaning of this button? When it is used for?
    I hope that anybody knows the meaning =)

    hi raiden,
    as for as i have gone through the issue I have come to know that:
    If you want to use multiple account assignment for a line item in PO then at that moment you will have to first press the "repeat on " button. only after that multiple account button will be active that is just before your "repeat on " button.
    Steps:
    1:Save your PO.
    2:Go to transaction code ME22N to change the PO.
    (Here you will firstly see that the multiple a/c assignment button is firsty gray.It will become active only after when you press the "repeat on" button).
    I hope It will be helpfull for you.
    regards,
    Aslam Ansari.

  • What is this hidden "feature" in mobile Safari for and how can I use it?

    OK, one day, like any geek would, I was in the car messing with my iPod touch. I was playing in Safari, typing in email addresses and such to get the exciting "WARNING - PHISHING SITE" screen. So I then tried typing "/" into the address bar, and when I hit "go", something interesting happened. The "/" changed to "file:///", and it tried to load it, but then popped up with an error message that said "This page could not be opened because it is a local file". Now I'm not new to the "file:///" thing, and I've used it to access folders using Chrome that Explorer wasn't showing for some reason. So, what if that tag used for? Obviously Apple has a use for it somehow since they included a little shortcut to get to it. I'll post some screenshots below so you can see what everything looks like:
    So if this happens to have any use at all, I'd like to know about it!
    I also asked this question over here:  http://lockergnome.net/questions/157444/what-is-this-hidden-feature-in-mobile-sa fari-for-and-how-can-i-use-it

    That is a shortcut for opening a file locally stored on the iPod. This is not really useful since iOS does not permit such access to its file sustem.

  • What's wrong with this button code

    Dear All,
    I am trying to set up a button handler for many buttons
    rather just one. The
    intention of this code is to say if I press Load1 to Load40
    that button and
    only that button's alpha should change to 50%. This code
    makes them all 50%
    alpha when the frame loads rather than on the onPress event.
    Can someone please help me out with this one?
    i = 0;
    while (i<40) {
    this["Load"+i].onPress = btnEvaluate(this["Load"+i]);
    ++i;
    function btnEvaluate(target_btn:Button) {
    target_btn._alpha = 50;
