What is this called?

I've seen this before and I'm working on a volunteer project that I think it would work great on.  What I would be referring to is how the image is broken up in multiple peices and then goes into the next image by flipping all of the peices over.  You can see an example here: http://www.redolivedesign.com/utah_web_designers.html
It's a pretty sharp little gizmo.  What would this technique or any other similiar technique be called?
Thanks.

In case anyone is interested, I have found that it is commonly called 'billboard transition effects'.  There are a few tutorials out there, but the easier one that I had hope to use turned out to be in AS2.  I'm trying to learn AS3 so I stayed away.  I was hoping to use this in a simple slide show, but I'll probably save it for another time.
It's a pretty neat effect

  • I'd like to toggle between the source and timeline and bypass the program tab - what is this called in the shortcut tab?

    When editing, I have to press my shortcut twice to get back to the source window as it goes via the program monitor first. Is there an assignable shortcut just between the timeline and source? If so, what is it called?

    If so many people have the same question and concern about this, why is it consistently ignored?  I've seen countless posts like this that are told to ignore the logs or to only dump when asked to. How can those of us that have these questions get an answer?  Can I im someone who can help me or are they being ignored because it it evidence that our devices have been jailbroken without our knowledge?
    If you can point me in the direction of someone who is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it!
    Thanks in advance!

  • CMD+\ ... what is this called?

    I've been using this shortcut for a really long time to align text after a manually inserted bullet, but do not know what it's called.
    I'm asking because I'm creating a "real" bulleted list (using the bullet feature) but cannot get the text to align correctly without manually inserting the... whatever it's called.
    If I make a list from scratch it works, but applying it to existing text leaves the text full left-justified under the bullet.
    Any help appreciated!
    thanks,
    Andrew

    That shortcut inserts an Indent to Here character.
    You need to set the indent of the paragraphs to some value and then the first line indent to negative the same (or a smaller) vale. When you do that you create a hanging indent. The left margin marker is an implicit left tab in this situation.

  • Graphic card issue? What is this called?

    Seriously... this week three of my lab imacs have gone bonkers.  One imac is running Mountain Lion, the other two are Lion.  Same plm and its been happening since Tuesday whenever graphics intensive programs are being run (Type to Learn software, Photobooth, and a 3D game called Roblox).  Once this happens, the only option is pressing the power button to restart the computer. The only recent change/installation I can think of is the recent Flash Player update.  All the imacs are Mid-2010.
    Anyone else having this problem.  And what's this type of issue called so I can check with Applecare?
    Thanks for any thoughts!

  • What is this called in Flash?

    I am interested in creating something like features section on this page http://www.nationalgeographic.com/ where you scroll through different images with a breif intro and link to go to the details page.
    I am trying to search for this but I am not sure what this funtion is called. Are there any tutorials to do something similar?
    Thanks!

    I'm sorry, I just realized that the machine I'm using at the moment doesn't have the required version of Flash installed - so as you see below all I am seeing is an image indicating Flash 9 or higher needs to be installed--which I simply overlooked on my quest to find something with "features" titling it.  My normal machine lost its UPS today so I'm floundering at the moment.  In any case. you can see that image they provide does give some indication of what you describe--just blank dark areas though.
    I do not know of any specific tutorial for that piece, though I have created one similar to what I think it is.  So what you might try doing is looking around Google for an "AS3 xml slideshow tutorial".  You may find one that has features such as that, though you may have to adapt from what you find to what you want.
    You might even try searching this forum.  Sometime in the past few months, but not too recently, someone decided to offer their own solution to slideshow design that had a variety of features--unfortunately, I cannot remember anything specific, and for me to search with this machine would be tedious... it became the reason for getting a new one.
    Another thing you might have to look for would be "AS3 scrolling thumbnails menu tutorial" since you might find a slideshow that doesn't have the scrolling feature.

  • I want a job for apple in which I design the actual iPods, iPhones, iPads, and iMacs. What is this called? I do not necessarily want to do any internal stuff. I would like to design the actual device and help build it. I want to give ideas for the devices

    I would love a job where I can help make the blueprints of how I devices will be made. I want a job where I can more so help plan the creating of every new device rather than building the already planned devices.

    There is no simple job description or position that would fit. The jobs of design are generally split among many people and roles. You might try viewing the existing jobs; that might give you some clues as to avenues of education and job experience to pursue. Viewing the Design jobs might give you at least a start:

  • SIP reason = "This call leg has been replaced"

    Hi All,
    I am trying to troubleshoot an issue with calls being dropped, and have noticed that on some of my dropped calls I see the following in the BYE message:
    ms-diagnostics: 10026;source="Lync.domain.local";reason="This call leg has been replaced";component="MediationServer"
    ms-diagnostics-public: 10026;reason="This call leg has been replaced";component="MediationServer"
    ms-endpoint-location-data: NetworkScope;ms-media-location-type=intranet
    The call path is PSTN-->Gateway-->Lync-->Trusted application Server-->Agent
    I cant seem to find much on what the "This call leg has been replaced" message means, if anyone can help me out it would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    J

    All,
    I have now had some time to analyse the problem further. I have produced a more detailed way of reviewing the data. By using a custom SQL view (see attached) in the LCSCDR DB I can
    now connect Excel to the database and using Power Pivot quickly breakdown the data and look for some form of trend. Now I can see a the precise time, client versions and affected users. I have compared this information with the Syslog outputs on the Audio
    Codes gateway.
    It seems that all the problems I have generally occur when clients are connected to only one of my front end servers. There does not appear to be a similar number of problems on the other one.
    Can anyone else please confirm if they too have an Audio Codes gateway when suffering with this issue?
    I now have CU6 applied to all of the Lync infrastructure. This has not resolved the problem but has reduced the frequency which the errors are occurring.
    Does anyone else have any further thoughts on this?
    Thanks
    Ben

  • The loading bar at the bottom of my browser has disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the lastest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP.

    The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I am not sure why this suddenly happened. I think it may have been after my usual updates but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it at all.

    Loading Bar? Maybe the URL/address bar where you type sites you want to go to (like www.google.com)? See Navigation Bar below. You may also need to see the first item "Can't see the Menu Bar".
    <u>'''Can't see the Menu Bar'''</u> (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)?
    Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.
    ''(Linux & OSX see: [[Menu bar is missing]] )''
    <u>''Windows'' Method 1.</u> '''''Hold down''''' the key and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M
    <u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Press and release the key. The Menu Bar will be displayed; then choose ~~red:V~~iew > ~~red:T~~oolbars and click on ~~red:M~~enu Bar.
    The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Menu+bar+is+missing
    <u>'''Navigation Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar and other Toolbars'''</u> under View > Toolbars. Clicking on one of them will place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not displayed).
    <u>'''To display the Status Bar'''</u>, View, then click Status bar to place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not displayed).

    You can un-install the Mozilla ActiveX control as Firefox no longer uses it and hasn't since, as I recall, version 2. See: [[ActiveX]]

  • What is this Symbol called and what does it mean?

    What is this symbol/icon called and what does it mean?  It goes away with it's "notification" and I would have no idea where to find it should I need to.
    Please.  And thank you.

    It did come from Apple as I had to deal with this.  But in speaking with another "Genius" I was trying to describe the symbol to him and never got an answer.

  • What is it called when you do this?

    What is it called when you have something similar to a blog where you have your code say, let there be 5 posts, and after 5 posts create a new page to put the other posts on that page so there is only 5 per page?
    I'm not really sure how to search that so I can learn how it's done.
    I'm using Repeating Template Regions so if anyone can either tell me what it's called or link me to a good tutorial that would help me that would be great!
    Basically what I'm hoping is that I can press the little "+" on my Repeating Template Region and once there is more than a specific number of the regions, the excess will continue onto another page that I can link to.
    (Side Question... Anyway to organize these regions in Alphabetical order?)
    - Thanks!

    It's called pagination
    There are server behaviors in Dreamweaver to do this.
    MySQL queries use the ORDER BY argument to ORDER BY alphabetically or numberically either in ascending or descending order.
    example:
    SELECT table_column, table_column2
    FROM table_name
    WHERE table_column = 'something'
    ORDER BY table_column ASC

  • What do you call this basic technique?

    Request: Is there a name for the technique I'm using below, because I
    know I've seen it and done it before.
    Context: I'd like to allow the user to resize images, while preserving
    their width:height aspect ratio. My GUI has a pair of JSpinners, for width
    and height, and when one is adjusted, the other should change.
    Example: if the aspect ratio is 2:1, setting the width spinner to 201
    should cause the height spinner to change to 100 (I truncate), whilst setting
    the height spinner to 100 should cause the width spinner to change to 200.
    But: I don't want those reactions to cascade: from the example, if the
    user sets the width spinner to 201, the height spinner should change to 100,
    but that is where it should stop -- the width spinner shouldn't itself react
    and change to 200.
    My solution: I'm a fan of fixing it in the model, and here is my tweak for
    SpinnerNumberModel: public class SafeSpinnerNumberModel extends SpinnerNumberModel {
         public SafeSpinnerNumberModel(int value, int minimum, int maximum, int stepSize) {
             super(value, minimum, maximum, stepSize);
         public void setValue(Object value) {
             if (!inSetValue) {
                 inSetValue = true;
                 super.setValue(value);
                 inSetValue = false;
         private boolean inSetValue;
    In my code, there are two JSpinners (with SafeSpinnerNumberModels),
    and each model has a ChangeListener that reacts by adjusting the other model.
    The flag stops the potential feedback loop.
    So, again, what would you call this technique?
    Thanks,
    BDLH

    Me too. And they love all those visual little
    thingies so much: ooh, when
    the number is positive it's displayed in black,
    otherwise it's red. I'm a
    genius! No lemme put 90 percent profit in here, just
    for the "what-if"
    question part. Yay! It's black!You should see some of the spreadhseets we have here. Risk management, process compliance, earned value management... I have no idea what any of this is, but its all thousands of rows of red-green-yellow, telling who's not doing any work. And if you change one value all the colors change all over the place. I bet they have Tetris encoded in there.
    I attempted to finish my bookkeeping for Q3 last
    Sunday but I was
    distracted by myself attempting to do the Towers of
    Hanoi puzzle
    using Excel. I managed to make it work, but it was so
    awful (using
    additional cells etc) I deleted it all. I still have
    to finish up Q3 ...Hmm, I believe I'll start short-selling JosAH Industries ;-)
