What is this CPU activity?

I have been having trouble with the SBBOD when I'm in Mail.  A few days ago I completely reinstalled my OS X 10.8.4 and I'm still having problems.  Last night I started watching my Activity Monitor.  This morning I only had Mail open and everything seemed to be going fine and then, while I was composing an email, I went to look at another email in one of my folders.  That's when my SBBOD appeared.  Prior to doing this, my % User was less than 10%.  Now my Mail isn't even open and my %User is 90%+.  The areas getting the highest % appear to be Calendar Agent, AddressBookManager, AddressBookSourceSync and com.apple.doc.extra.  They are fluctuating between 40%+ and 86% CPU.  What is going on?  How do I stop whatever it is that's going on behind the scenes and using up my CPU?

I may have just solved my own problem.  I went into System Preferences>iCloud and unchecked Contacts and other things.  Then I decided to just shut iCloud off completely, since I don't use it.  I now have Mail open and my Activity Monitor shows %User:  3.01.
I sure do learn a lot from you folks.  :-)  Thank you all for so generously volunteering your time.
