What is this dongle for?

I got a Mac Pro a few months ago, and it came with this seemingly useless DVI dongle. If you didn't get one too, it is basically a 3" cable that goes from male to female (essentially making a useless 3" extension cable).
I can find no purpose for this cable other than if my monitor were a few inches too far, but it just seems kind of useless to me. Click below for a picture of exactly what I have.

some DVI cables have oversize boot/hoods that wont
physically fit in the limited space in the recessed
area where the back panels of the PCI cards are. That
cable allows their use.
It specifically allows the overwidth hood of the 30" ACD (and maybe the smaller ones too?) to fit in next to another DVI cable from a second monitor. The female side is the same width as the ACD male connector, while the male side is as narrow as a normal DVI connector. Without this, at least on my GEForce 7300 card, you can't plug a second monitor in with the ACD.

F-4 Key on Windows 8.0 what is this function for?

I accidentally pushed F-4 Key by itself, and my screen was wider and something pop up on the right side of my screen that had 4 choices of ??? My question is what is this function for?? And after I push it again it went back to normal. I would also like to know what the other functions are for on top row F-1 to F-12 and yes I am a new user to this laptop from HP. I know there is also windows + keys commands and I am interested in knowing more about what goes on with my pc. F-3 has a icon that looks like a light, and yes I have a lot to learn, Thanks in advance for anyone who wishes to give me help on these matters.

On the top of F4 key, you should see a screen symbol and normally (w/o preesing F4) this will output to an external monitor. For Fn+F4, please read the following article:

What is your machine ? Depeinding on the model/product of your machine, some keys my line up a bit difference but you can see symbol on each key and work this out. For example F2 and F3 are for brightness, F5 for backlit keyboard (not all machines). F6 to F11 for sound/video and F12 for wireless. On your machine, some keys may be swapping around but basically they all have one symbol each.

can anyone tell my why I should ever use this magic <j2ee-application....> Tag within the <security> Tag of a JNLP-File??? I never needed it and in my opinion nobody will ever need it....

At least in my case (OS 10.7.5, iTunes 11.0.2) you can hide this (if I understand you correctly) by going to the iTunes menu bar, clicking View, then View Options. From the drop down menu make sure that Category (under Other) isn't selected. You'd have to do this for every playlist where you don't want "category" to appear.

When you say you just purchased Formscentral exactly what do you mean? Formscentral has not been sold as a stand alone product in a while due to the decision to close the service. If you got Formscentral as part of a Acrobat subscription then you need to know that that part of the subscription will go away partially in June and fully in July. If you have indeed managed to purchase Formscentral standalone recently can you please give me the information about your purchase such as the date of purchase and link to the site from which you purchased. Refunds are available to customers who are not able to use the service though their contract period.

If you ever have a need to recover your HDD to its out-of-box state, you'll be darn glad its there. That partition holds the HDD recovery software that runs the recovery and also includes the Master Boot Record for example. On the other side of your C drive, you should find a partition of about 15GB which is the data that are restored to your computer during a recovery. !.5GB of space on the large HDD's of these days is pretty small considering its possible usefulness.
If you are never going to have any problems with your HDD or have to install a new one, then by all means, you can use those partitions for anything you want but I wouldn't take out the !.5GB one in any event.

About once a week to two weeks I receive notification through my anti-virus that this file has been changed. It appears to be part of Firefox. What is it and what does it do?

Is "What's this" help for 64-bit applications available in latest version of Robohelp?

We purchased Robohelp 9 recently. Before purchasing we called support to make sure context help ("what's this" help) is available for 64-bit applications. They told us that it's there. When we installed Robohelp 9, context help library for 64-bit applications was not there. We are thinking of returning the product. Has anybody come across this issue?

Like Peter, I've not seen other reports. However, I'll temper this by saying that I'm on a 64 bit system and I do see an option for creating this type of help. I am aware of it and know how it works generically, but I've never created it and I am aware that it's fallen out of favor with Microsoft. So I am unsure of what "libraries" may be needed.
My own guess here is that support simply looked at RoboHelp and saw an ability to get at the What's this area of RoboHelp running on a 64 bit system and concluded that because it was there all was well.
Curiosity questiion here for alex-2012. Have you seen What's This help on any application running in 64 bit mode on a 64 bit system? Perhaps it's just a limitation of being in the 64 bit environment. I believe the ability for "What's This" is really governed by Microsoft. And since they have abandoned it, perhaps they never updated and distributed the supporting files needed on 64 bit machines. Just pondering that out loud a bit.

Problem is that my SATA data drive was not showned in XP or system management. I have installed an hour ago the "VIA PIDE/SATA RAID Drivers & Utility"; and just after the restart, without doing anything, my SATA HD has been recognized.
But I still do not know what the "VIA VT8237(R) SATA RAID Driver (For floppy driver)" is used for ... and if it is used to make a floppy, when that floppy should be used ?
this is just for my understanding, since my "problem" is resolved.
