What is this drum sound called?

Hi,
What is it called when you have a short 4 or 8-beat (or so) drum hit/loop right before a major transient in the song?
I'm looking for some generic ones in Apple Loops, but I don't know what they're called so I'm having a bit of a hard time searching.
Thanks

I think you're looking for a "fill", a "roll", 'break' or maybe even a "build up".
There might be some in the loop library. But with a little diligence and button/key bashing, may I suggest that it won't be too hard to learn how to program one of yer' own? Usually you can create something more original and interesting in less than the time it takes to find the 'right' loop.
just a thot. I think 'fill' is probably what you're looking for, though.

  • What is this command script called missing kitty that initiated out of nowhere on my macbook pro?

    What is this command script called missing kitty that initiated out of nowhere on my macbook pro? It says it was created by a former Apple genius and it showed up 3 days after I had to have my macbook wiped clean and re-installed at the Genius bar due to a "software glitch" that locked up my firmware....

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2404816?start=0&tstart=0
    at the Apple Store called "Missing Kitty" that would allow you to install a script on the root level of the HD. After installing everything and making a user it would go in and delete the user so on the next restart the computer would start up a "brand new" and already have iLife installed.
    You can always call the genius bar for clarification

  • What is this: " MuseJSAssert: Error calling selector function:TypeError: $(...).museMenu is not a fu

    Everything works fine in preview. Get this error when uploaded to site and trying to switch between some pages:
    : " MuseJSAssert: Error calling selector function:TypeError: $(...).museMenu is not a function"
    site is  www.authorizedagents.com

    Chrome still reports the http://www.campusone.net/scripts/1_1/jquery.musemenu.js is missing (though note it is now looking in a "1_1" folder rather than a "1.1" folder).
    To do exactly what I'm doing to detect this:
    1) Go to a page that reports a JavaScript error or that otherwise shows a missing link for an image using Chrome.
    2) Right click and choose "Inspect Element". It doesn't matter what you click on.
    This should bring up the developer tools UI within your browser window.
    3) From the button at the top of the Developer Tools UI click on "Console".
    This should display a list of any errors that occurred during the load of the page. In this case it shows the jquery.musemenu.js file was not found.

  • What is this ILife sound effect

    Hi, does anybody know the Ilife track behind this.
    http://soundcloud.com/airbus125/ilife-1
    Thanks,
    Aaron

    At the beginning, it sounds like one of the radio station ID effects, maybe with a bitcrusher or some distortion on it. I'm not sure what the guitar bit is, but you could probably get something like it with the guitar software instrument in GarageBand. Hope that helps.

  • What is this? -- unchecked call to put(K,V)

    unchecked call to put(K,V) as a member of the raw type java.util.HashMap
    m.put( args[0], new Double( args[1]));
    I have code that stores a string and a double value in a map like this:
    String args[];
    m.put( args[0], new Double( args[1]));
    but I get this message when compiling with the Xlint option in javac. Why is this happening?

    Yes. I got the same compile warning when I compile with jdk1.5[jdk-1_5_0_03-windows-i586-p.exe]
    This:
    Map map=new HashMap();
    map.put("abc","def");Will get the warning like "unchecked ....."
    ====
    This:
    Map<Object,Object> map=new HashMap<Object,Object>();
    map.put("abc","def");Will compile OK.
    ====
    Is the compiler's responsible to set the default type to Object?

  • What is this pop sound?

    From time to time, may be once a day, I get this rather loud pop sound. It may be coming from the speakers, but I'm not sure. It could be from somewhere else in the iBook. I am wondering whether you have had the same experience and have an explanation for that. Many thanks. Erich
    iBook 14 640/60   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    can you isolate which applications are running when it happens?
    could it be an alert set, like mail arriving, or mail arriving that has a particular rule which includes an alert? ical? or third party software with some kind of sound enabled?
    hopefully it is coming through the speakers, and is not a hardware thing.

    I keep getting the pop up called "Mackeeper".  Is it a good thing or bad thing?

  • What is this weird sound when I shake the device?

    @Rana80 As above you would be best to speak with your local Xperia Care team as your handset would need to be assessed by a service agent sorry.

    Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
    The sound may be coming from the camera. If you shake the phone you might hear a slight sound from the camera which is normal. But if it sounds like something is loose in the phone i recommend that you contact a service location to have it checked.

    What is this symbol/icon called and what does it mean?  It goes away with it's "notification" and I would have no idea where to find it should I need to.
    Please.  And thank you.

    It did come from Apple as I had to deal with this.  But in speaking with another "Genius" I was trying to describe the symbol to him and never got an answer.

  • Need help identifying what problem this is

    Hi
    I just want to know if:
    Is this a common problem with LCD Monitors?
    What is this display issue called?
    Is this fixable? If so, how?
    I know this is a monitor issue because I've tried many troubleshoots.
    Please answer my questions above, I don't prefer replacing my monitor yet. Also, I couldn't take screenshots because the lines or dots don't appear to other users so I used a camera.
    Blue lines or dots in some areas. I think they are consistent in bright areas. Captured from my background wallpaper. Pink lines or dots in what I suspect dark areas. Captured from a game (League of Legends)

    What effect after 10 seconds? There's a scale/jitter effect then an over exposure effect with fades to black and there's a blue light streak? You mentioned brush strokes so I think it's the light streak.
    For that you can use Beam, or small solids stacked on top of each other with various blurs and blend modes set to Add or Screen and a lens flair, or a half dozen different particle effects, or . . .
    Catch a still frame and show us what you're trying to achieve and we can help more.
    or ??

    The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I am not sure why this suddenly happened. I think it may have been after my usual updates but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it at all.

    Loading Bar? Maybe the URL/address bar where you type sites you want to go to (like www.google.com)? See Navigation Bar below. You may also need to see the first item "Can't see the Menu Bar".

    Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.

    <u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Press and release the key. The Menu Bar will be displayed; then choose ~~red:V~~iew > ~~red:T~~oolbars and click on ~~red:M~~enu Bar.
    The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.

    If you are using an unsecured or shared wireless network, then it could be just another user's computer name. If your sharing settings are correct, you have no worry. However, It would appear that at least some of the other user's settings are less than optimal inasmuch as his/hers is openly being displayed.
    The next time you check into a hotel and use their wireless network, you are likely to see a number of other user's computers. Some just the name, as they share no files. While others are wide open, and their file sharing is on.
