What is this error message talking about ?
hi all,
we coded an application which get's data from an oracle db - very good.
now we want to throw away the oracle db and want to use an mssql server database.
when i try to get some few data out of the mssql server database it works fine (just with a test class...).
but when i try to run our application totally from the massql server db, the following exceptions are thrown:

1. you guys said to my 1st question:
Different drivers.
==> but i use in both cases the jdbc odbc bridgeThe jdbc-odbc bridge is a driver that connects to the ODBC shell on your system. The ODBC shell has nothing to do with java. The ODBC shell uses drivers (again nothing to do with java) - if you connect to a different data source then you are using different drivers. The ODBC drivers have a standard and (last I checked) three compliance levels, with varying levels of compliance amoungst even those levels. So there is a lot of possible variations.
2. ...Some drivers only allow one active statement per connection....
==> but i realized that i can use a statement for example 3 times and
in another case it 'crashes' after 6 or more timesCouldn't answer that. But it probably has something to do with the actual data and code.
3. you said:The first rule is to explicitly close everything (ResultSet, Statement,
Connection) as soon as you can.
==> to close resultsets and statements as soon as possible, ok, but why closing
the connection? opening a new connection is one of the slowest things on
earth, so why to do that? i create a connection at the very first point,
and close it when i close the application. Not necessarily. I used to start an application, connect to the database, do queries and stored procs, write to a file and terminate the application in 3 seconds. Using newer versions of the JVM (first JITs) would slow it to 4-6 seconds. Automated performance measurements indicated that the actual queries were the slowest part.
Automated performance tools have demonstrated to me, again and again, that the chance of me actually guessing performance bottlenecks in an application is almost non-existent.
this leads to a further question i am interested for several months:
applets have a destroy method where i can close anythng i want,
but what about an application or worse an jsp thing....java doesn't
have destructors, so where to close my db stuff?Depends. When an application terminates all the connections are closed so you could take the point of view that it doesn't matter. Myself, I feel this is likely to lead to problems because if I use the code elsewhere then I have to figure out whether it is getting closed or not. So I explicitly manage the closes all the time.
For your objects add a destroy() method and call it in a finally block.

When I try to open up this program, Pacifist, I receive this error message. Here's a screenshot. http://i.imgur.com/v717w.jpg What does this error message mean and how do I solve it?
It sounds like some of the Unix Executable commands were removed (or the permissions to those were modified) out of the /usr/bin/ folder. You can try opening disk utility and repairing permissions on Macintosh HD or you can reboot your computer and holding down option-r when it comes back up to reinstall Lion again. This will not delete your personal information or applications you have installed but it would be best to back it up to Time Machine before you do. The article on how to do this is here. (http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/) I have had to do this before and it works like a charm. It should fix your issue but grab a cup of coffee because its going to take about 35 - 40 minutes depending on how fast your computer is.

I am attempting to sync my phone with iTunes and I keep getting an error message 42001 so my phone can not sync with iTunes... What is this error message and what can I do to fix this problem and sync my phone to iTunes?
Dear Apple team,
I recently bought an iphone3GS from USA and jail broke it. Since I heard the there are lots of disadvantages I thought to unlock it officially through the original owner (in copy). He assisted me and confirmed that he unlocked it with AT& T (See the attachment). According to the instructions I restored the phone. But it is not activating with “Activation server is currently not available, please try again or try with iTunes”
When I try with iTunes , it says “you haven’t inserted a SIM” even though I insert the original AT&T SIM.
My current location is Sri Lanka ,so don’t have any apple support.
Please help me to be a good fan of apple. -

Often it suggests issues with device filters in your registry. But it's probably best to check the situation more closely.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:

maverick 10.9.1Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

Question: What does this error message mean: "Filename: Mips32.ari TFTP Error: ‘File not found’ in AP-105"?
Product and Software: This article applies to AP-105.
The root cause of this error is that the AP cannot perform a code upgrade.
Scenario 1
Check the ArubaOS code.
The minimum requirement to bring up an AP-105 is ArubaOS 3.3.3+ or ArubaOS 3.4.1+.
If the controller is running pre 3.3.3 code, upgrade the code to fix the issue.
Scenario 2
If the AP is not connected to the controller directly, bring up the AP in the controller and then connect it to the desired location. This process loads mips32.ari to the AP so that the AP can upgrade the code.
Scenario 3
The AP has no power adapter and you want to use the PoE feature. A few controller series like the 200 and 3000 Series do not support PoE. In this case, the AP cannot be terminated physically in the controller. Instead, connect the AP to the PoE switch, which is connected to the controller. Then assign a static IP configuration for the AP using the following commands:
apboot> setenv ipaddr <ip address>
apboot> setenv netmask <netmask>
apboot> setenv gatewayip <ip address of the gateway>
apboot> setenv master <ip address of the master>
apboot> setenv serverip <ip address of the TFTP server>
apboot> setenv bootcmd tftp
apboot> save
apboot> boot
Locally configure the TFTP server for the AP and load the mips32.ari file from the controller with the help of the TFTP application.I want to download this file Mips32.ari for AP-105 device. Please give me this file download link. APBoot 1.2.4.4 (build 26618)

What does this error message even MEAN??
So as I've been posting on here recently, I'm in the process of upgrading the OS on my old G4 from Panther to Tiger. I've received 2 different suggestions on how to safely do so (the 1st was simply to install Tiger on the 2nd partition of my internal drive, and then designate that one as my boot drive).
But for the 2nd method, it was suggested that I clone my current boot partition (using something like Carbon Copy Cloner, which I'm attempting), save the clone to my external drive (so I can boot off that if something happens), and then Upgrade my Panther to Tiger on the same partition, so that I can keep all my Preferences, Bookmarks, etc.
In preparation, I Verified and Repaired Permissions on both the Source Disk and the Target volume--the External Drive, which is actually formatted in Mac OS Standard; the drive I'm cloning is formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled)--and had run the "Clone" command, but immediately got this error message:
"There was an error during correcting volume privileges: chown:/Volumes/Untitled/: operation not supported. Would you like to ignore this error or stop?"
So I stopped.
What does that even MEAN? Should I "ignore" it? Or simply skip Cloning the damned drive, install the new OS to the 2nd partition, and designate that one as my boot drive?? I've been worried about Permissions on this computer, as for some reason I can't seem to Verify, or Repair Permissions for the 2nd partition of the internal drive, but for all I know, maybe you're not even supposed to be able to.
If anyone could help answer either issue though, I'd really appreciate it. I've just been preparing my computer for this upgrade for a day or two, and would really like to go through with it...You need to first format the external drive Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Open Disk Utility, select the external volume from the left side list, click on the Erase tab in the DU main window. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the drop down menu, then click on the Erase button.
Now you should be able to clone your system volume. However, do this first:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X. -
I had a problem when downloading iTunes 11.1 and had to clear my disc and rebuild it from Time Capsule. Thats when I learned that Time Capsule stopped backing up back in January. So now I keep looking to see if Time Capsule is backing up but whenever I open the Time Capsule icon i get this error message. What does it mean and how can I fix the problem?
The backup is corrupted in some way.. you need to verify it.
The error is common enough but there seems to be a range of solutions.
Read the thread here.. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3123920?tstart=0
Look particularly for the posts by Pondini.
And check his troubleshooting for methods of doing things like verify.
