Dimension order has a huge impact on performance.. The worst case I ever saw was in a pre-sales situation where an outline was thrown together very quickly by someone not experienced with Essbase. A rather small retrieval took 3 minutes despite the fact that there was absolutely no data in the database! Rearranging the dimensions made retrievals instantaneous..

I have a similar problem to others using Time Machine with Lion. I recently upgraded to Lion 10.7.3, but am now unable to get Time Machine to back up, despite reinstalling, verifying and repairing (unnecessary) my various internal HDDs. I realise that indexing takes some time but 14 hours overnight with no progress seems to indicate that something is radically wrong!! The only TM message is "Preparing Backup" and "Calculating" and the widget just tells me that standard backup has started. It never changes.

Sorry, I didn't read your question carefully, so my earlier reply is incorrect.
You need to make a change to the Windows registry:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\acrobat\shell\open\ddeexec\application: change "AcroviewA10" to "AcroviewR10"
To do this automatically, download ddeexec.zip, unzip it, then double-click on the extracted file to run the registry script.

here is the explanation for mechanism of hour glass structure:
for example you had 6 dimensions 3 dense and 3 sparse. you should arrange your outline in the following structure (Hour glass)
DenseDimNumber1 (100stored members)
DenseDimNumber2 (50stored members)
DenseDimNumber3 (10stored members)
SparseDimNumber1 (10stored members)
SparseDimNumber2 (50stored members)
SparseDimNumber3 (100stored members)
Dense members determine your block size
your block size will be 100*50*10*8
Sparse members determine your potential number of datablocks.
Index file has address of each datablock.
Outline order controls the sequence of the datablocks stored in .pag files.
when you run a calc it is fast for essbase to search for a datablock in index file if it is arranged in hour glass structure.
Assume that your first dimension is largest sparse; so when essbase searches it has to go through all 100 members. if the first sparse dim has 10 members it is easy to search.

I restarted my mac and many apps and files disappeared. It's like it booted to a state several months ago. My CS 5 apps are not in the dock or applications folder. Has this ever happened before and what can I do?

The files on my desktop are not the ones that were there when I shut down. It's like it's gone back in time.
My display's power supply got fried (I think) in a power outage so I bought a new one. However, every time I restart the display usually stays black. I have found I need to keep rebooting until it kicks in and starts working. I unplug everything, wait a while (a few minutes to overnight) and try booting again.
This last time the display finally came on but I'm faced with this problem. I used to use time machine, but I deleted everything and disabled it a couple months ago or more so I'm at aloss as to why the mac is booting into the state it was in sevearl months ago.
What could I have done to cause this? Has this ever happened to anyone else and is there a solution?
Note: I did a search for a file I knew was created today. I found it and it showed that it was a file I had saved on the desktop this morning--even though that file's icon is not appearing on the desktop now.
I did a search for photoshop and saw my CS5 version listed.
However, I did a couple more searches and these files no longer appear in the search. I don't know if they're there or not. This is bizarre!

Thanks for the obvious question. I mean it. The very same thought came to me this morning and, sure enough, I had booted into another drive--my old one that, of course, had the old desktop, etc.
It didn't dawn on me that this was the case since I hadn't set it as a boot drive but I guess in the course of all the restarts I did, it got switched.

I agree that VLC is also a good choice but MPlayerX is more user friendly.

It sounds like some of the Unix Executable commands were removed (or the permissions to those were modified) out of the /usr/bin/ folder. You can try opening disk utility and repairing permissions on Macintosh HD or you can reboot your computer and holding down option-r when it comes back up to reinstall Lion again. This will not delete your personal information or applications you have installed but it would be best to back it up to Time Machine before you do. The article on how to do this is here. (http://www.apple.com/macosx/recovery/) I have had to do this before and it works like a charm. It should fix your issue but grab a cup of coffee because its going to take about 35 - 40 minutes depending on how fast your computer is.

Which version of 6? Check the slide quality, if it is at Low, push it to High or Optimized. Then uncheck all compression settings in Preferences, Project, SWF Size and Quality.

Nobody can tell you anything without proper system info or other technical details. The simply answer probably is that you are running your system with insufficient user privileges and system restore or some security tools are blocking stuff/ erasing your install.

Make sure your Project has the focus. You cannot Share an Event.

Can i alter any setting to ensure photos will transfer in a logical order to track the history of the events in any particular album folder.

Thanks for this, I have checked the dates in case the camera settings had been lost unfortunatly in this instance all pics are dated in correct order but not transferred in date order, or date modified order, or is the date config based on US date atyle?
