I've actually been looking into this quite a lot. I know that when Windows goes into the Hibernate, all of the contents on RAM are transferred to the primary HDD/SSD so all power can be cut off to it. I'm not sure if Apple does this with Macs. Usually, it would take a lot of time for the computer to start back up from hibernation since all of the contents have to be tranferred back. There is one thing, however, that I do know for certain. If you have multiple applications or a intensive application open/running in the background, that will cause your Mac to take longer to go to sleep. The same goes for when your Mac is very hot.
My advice is to close apps you don't need open and get an app from the App Store called Memory Clean. It will clean your RAM of any unneeded contents.

The RAM specifications for your MBP as defined by Apple are: 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.
Many MBP users have installed Corsair RAM complying with Apple specifications with good results.
You have installed Corsair RAM that is out of these specifications (1600 MHz).
OWC has successfully tested faster speed RAM that THEY sell (1600 MHZ) but not Corsair RAM.
That MAY be the difference here. As mentioned, Apple Macs are selective regarding RAM. (Even some brands with the exact specifications do not work properly with Macs.)
Thus, if you want to install the higher speed RAM, purchase it from OWC since it is a proven product in this regard. Other wise install RAM with the specifications that Apple has set (1333 MHz), be it Corsair, OWC or Crucial.

You should be using the developers installer/unistaller to remove Log Me In from OS X.
Somehow it's in OS X, I don't know, but it's there and you need to remove it. I'm not dealing with Windows, just OS X.
Talk to Log Me In people and find out what is installed where so you can do a manual deletion out of OS X.
If that doesn't work, you have to reboot holding the Shift key down manually search for any Log Me In or Himachi files on your computer, in your System/Library/Extensions folder too, use the free Easy Find.

When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011 w/ Intel HD 3000/ 384Mb) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution. Specifically, what cable/connections do I need to display at this resolution? I cannot get the display to work using a "Thunderbolt to HDMI" or a "Thunderbolt to DVI" connector. Note: I used both older and newer (uni-directional) HDMI cables on the first config, and a Dual-link DVI cable on the second config. Apple specs state this is possible ( support.apple.com/kb/SP619 ), but I am at a loss as to how this can be done. Thanks in advance for the help!
You use a Mini DisplayPort to either HDMI or dual-link DVI adapter. If that component doesn't work, something's wrong with either the cable or something else in the connection.

Dear all,
I am attempting to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011) to my Sony LCD TV (KDL-46XBR6) via the Mini DisplayPort to HDMI. I have successfully connected the two devices and can select "SONY TV XV" in the sound preference pane. I can see and hear what I'd like, however, I can only monitor the sound in 2 channel stereo. I have my TV connected to a Sony 7.1 audio receiver via an optical cable and can monitor 7.1 sound via other sources (Blu-ray, broadcast, etc). When I go into the Audio Midi Setup utility, I am unable to configure my speakers to be anything but 2 channel stereo. I am given the options for "2ch-16bit", "2ch-20bit", "2ch-24bit" and "Encoded Digital Audio". When I select "Encoded Digital Audio", my output automatically changes to Built-in Output. Has anyone been able to successfully resolve this issue? Thanks for all your help!
GreggI have tested it with the Moshi (http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/moshi-mini-dp-to-hdmi-adapter-with-a udio-support) and Belkin (http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA342ZM/A/belkin-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adap ter) adapters, both purchased from the Apple Store with no such luck. Have you or anyone else had success with any other third-party adapters?

some Early 2011 MacBook Pros originally came with Snow Leopard installed, and some originally came with Lion installed. If yours originally came with Snow Leopard installed, then you should be able to install Snow Leopard from its model-specific grey Mac OS X Install DVD. (The white retail Snow Leopard DVD can’t be used with it; it was made for use with earlier models, which originally came with either Tiger or Leopard installed.) If yours originally came with Lion installed, then it won’t accept any Snow Leopard DVD; instead, you’d be able to use OS X Internet Recovery to download and install its original version of Lion from Apple’s servers. -
I have a Macbook Pro Early 2011 from the USA. It is now running Mavericks. I connect it to a 27" Cinema Display that I bought in China after we moved to China. Before I installed Mavericks, I could run all of the Adobe CS6 and Adobe CS5.5 applications on my Macbook Pro while connected to the cinema display. Now that I have Mavericks installed, whenever I am connected to my 27" CInema display my Adobe applications crash upon opening. I know this is a rare scenario, but does anyone have any ideas how to fix this problem? Is there a new driver that needs installed? I'd appreciate any help.
I am also having a similar issue. I used Adobe Lightroom and my whole display goes black. Even my laptop screen and the lights on the keyboard go black. I can still hear the fan running, so I assume it is just the display. This is my first Mac and I have had nothing but issues. I think I am going back to Windows after this.

I cannot install lion from mac appstore. i have a macbook pro early 2011 model with 10.6.8 and i keep getting a wierd error NSInternalInconsistencyException i have no idea what to do.
I changed my wireless broadband to a landline-base DSL wifi and it works like a charm. Sun was the culprit even you fiddle with its router and disable firewall, it won't work.

I'm not sure how this is an iTunes issue, but anyway, other than buying the apps from the Mac App Store (note that iDVD and iWeb are not available via the App Store), the only alternative is to call Apple support and give them the serial number of your Mac. They can usually sell you a new disk set for a reasonable fee.
