What is this symbol? (arrow next to the "Battery Indicator"
Ok, a little arrow pops up next to my battery percentage indicator (extreme top right corner) sometimes it's there (to the left of the indicator), sometimes not. Sometimes it points directly at the power indicator (points to the right), sometimes it points to the right at about a 15 degree upward angle?!?!
What is this thing!!!!????

Neither of the links provided by either of you prove your point directly.
The link I posted above, when opened on the iPad in Safari (after it opens in Safari, click the curved arrow and save it to the Home Page), opens a nice web page (iPad Guide) that works and looks just like the Settings on the iPad and describes and shows pix of the icons at the top of the iPad.
And it wasn't to "prove a point".
It was to help the OP.
Sorry Chris, but your post did say ". . . .this link shows examples ...", and the point I was making was that it did nothing of the sort. It's like you asking how to spell something and me providing a link to a dictionary; accurate, sure, just not that helpful. Besides, I thought I'd made it clear that I did in fact know just what the link was.

My GPS notification arrow next to the battery meter is staying on.
My GPS notification arrow next to the battery meter is staying on all the time, but I have no apps open in the background using gps. Anyone else?
I found the culprit.
Settings>general>background app refresh.
This seems to be a new menu that allows you to customize which apps continuously update in the background. You keep all the apps open on location services BUT turn them off in background app refresh.
All better now! -

What is causing flashing arrow next to battery status indicator?
I have a flashing white arrow next to the battery status indicator on my ipod touch that is causing music to be unplayable. Everything else appears to be ok. Arrow goes away when doing anything other than music. Any help would be appreciated.
Could be the Location Service icon . Go to SettingsPirvacy and either turn Location services on or off.
Next:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device. -

I downloaded Safari 5.1 onto Mac OS 10.6.8 some time ago. Yesterday the back/forward arrows next to the url window changed to a +, which adds the current url as a bookmark. I want the arrows back. What happened, and how can I fix this? Thanks. kammro
There's another way.
Right or control click the + then click Remove Item.
Just remembered that keyboard shortcut!

I have an Iphone 4GS. In the upper right hand corner next to the battery symbol, there is a lock symbol with an arrowed circled around it. Where did this come from and how do I get rid of it?
Locking Orientation
(Note that I am a representative of the organization for the above link, which is not endorsed by Apple) -
so there's this little icon at the top right corner of my iTouch 32GB (next to the battery icon) that's driving me crazy.
can anyone tell me what it means, and how to get rid of it?
much appreciated
b.It is the Orientation lock. To disable it or turn it off, double click your Home button and swipe your finger to the right on the Multitasking Bar. Here you'll see the Orientation lock. Tap it once to turn it off.

What is this 'DOWN ARROW' symbol, inside a 'horseshoe' to Rt of episode title?
What is this 'DOWN ARROW' symbol, inside a 'horseshoe' to rt of episode title?
Why is it only on some of my more recent episodes?
Why when i click it the colored circle to the left of the podcast title does the circle become unfilled, uncolored?
& btw: what means the Rectangle labled clean (just next to the down arrow)?
thank you very much.I just reread your question. The horseshoe is a cloud symbol. Clicking on it refreshes your episode. If there is no cloud with arrow, there is no new episode to download. When you click on it, the blue dot which indicates an unplayed episode awaits you, shows the progress of the download in a sort of analog clock manner. After it's done, it should turn blue again and the cloud with arrow should be gone.
The rectangle with clean is part of ratings podcast creators can use to show what audience they are making it suited for. Some rectanges say "explicit", most don't have anything.
I hope this helps.
