What is this symbol?

On an iPod touch 5th gen, in itunes, my music, there is a symbol next to some of the songs that looks like a cloud with a downward arrow. What does this symbol mean? I can still play these songs, so it can't be to download. Thanks!

Welcome to Apple Suport Communities
That symbol appears for songs purchased in the iTunes Store. When you see that symbol, it means that the song is not stored on the iPod, so you can listen to it from the iTunes Store if you press the title. If you press the cloud symbol, the song will be downloaded to your iPod touch and all your devices with Automatic Downloads enabled.

  • What is this Symbol called and what does it mean?

What is this symbol/icon called and what does it mean?  It goes away with it's "notification" and I would have no idea where to find it should I need to.
    Please.  And thank you.

It did come from Apple as I had to deal with this.  But in speaking with another "Genius" I was trying to describe the symbol to him and never got an answer.

  • What is this symbol on my BB - please help

I apologize for this, but it's driving me nuts trying to figure this out.
There's a symbol that occassionally shows up on the top of my BB's LCD screen (where all the other info is listed like the time, new message alerts, etc...) that I can't figure out what it is.
It looks like this:  o_o  (the underscore line on my BB actually conects the two circles kind of like an upside down roll of 110 film)
I've searched and searched and haven't come up with a solid answer yet to explain what this symbol means.
Thanks in advance for any help with identifying this symbol!!
    Bryan

FOUND IT!!  Thanks to this image.  I wish this were included in my BB's user guide:

  • What is this symbol?  And why can't I save the pics sent to me?

Hi.  I just received 15 pictures from my dad, but all the normal way of saving them "add to iphoto" "save" "save as" are disabled - even just dragging them to the desktop.  i try to do any of them and the save button is greyed.
this symbol is in the inbox message.
    Any idea what that is?
    Thanks so much,
    Danny

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • What is this symbol? (arrow next to the "Battery Indicator"

Ok, a little arrow pops up next to my battery percentage indicator (extreme top right corner) sometimes it's there (to the left of the indicator), sometimes not. Sometimes it points directly at the power indicator (points to the right), sometimes it points to the right at about a 15 degree upward angle?!?!
    What is this thing!!!!????

Neither of the links provided by either of you prove your point directly.
The link I posted above, when opened on the iPad in Safari (after it opens in Safari, click the curved arrow and save it to the Home Page), opens a nice web page (iPad Guide) that works and looks just like the Settings on the iPad and describes and shows pix of the icons at the top of the iPad.
And it wasn't to "prove a point".
It was to help the OP.
Sorry Chris, but your post did say ". . . .this link shows examples ...", and the point I was making was that it did nothing of the sort. It's like you asking how to spell something and me providing a link to a dictionary; accurate, sure, just not that helpful. Besides, I thought I'd made it clear that I did in fact know just what the link was.

  • Upgraded to iWeb '08--what does this symbol mean?

I understand the blue arrow "link" symbol, but when I upgraded, some of my items turned into a yellow "bust" symbol and I can't find any documentation that explains the meaning of this or how it got there.
Visuals of what I'm talking about here:

You can control it by choosing a different font. Sometimes a font that is recognized as a regular font can be changed because you added a shadow if you remove the shadow it will work without changing to an image. You can also remap what fonts are changed and which are not. There is an article on this on the 11mystics site. quite informative.

  • What is this symbol with a circular arrow at the top of my contacts list?

ive noticed on my iphone 4s it now has a circular arrow in the top left of my conacts list like a refresh symbol but it does nothing. does anyone know what its for? i swear it wasnt there yesterday.
also how do you get rid of duplicate contacts or contacts you no longer need? i know we can merge contacts but there seems to be tons of names and numbers i have put into categories for work contacts and since using icloud when one person rings i have three different names for them that pops up.

    1. It is a refresh icon, it initiates a manual sync with the server storing/syncing contacts.
    2. Sinec you know about merge.  You can also delete, tap to open a contact, click edit, and then scroll to the bottom.  Alternatively, you can log into icloud.com and edit, delete, prune there much easier if you have many alterations to make.

  • What does this symbol mean? and Bluetooth help!

Hi everybody. I recently installed the Nokia Advanced Bluetooth Car Kit, and today it kept failing to auto connect so I had to manually connect it everytime I got in my car.
Why has this started to happen today, and how can I get it back to automatically connecting.
Also, a weird symbol keeps coming up as it tries (and fails) to connect.
See following webpage for a picture.
Go to item 15, and look at the screen shot of the inside display. The icon that comes up is the one above the time, next to USB icon.

    Hi
I seem to recall that the symol to the left is one that comes up when connected to a PC.
Can't try it at the moment to confirm.
If problem has just started, you may want to see if profile settings are different, is b'uetooth on etc or even reboot phone (switch off remove / replace battery?)
Have you searched other part of this forum for car kit options, as this may have a clue for similar issues on other phones.

  • What is this symbol? (arrow with a 3 on it)

I'm studying for my CLD renewal exam and am finding that I'm quite rusty.  The following VI diagram was in one of the online sample exams and I cannot figure out nor remember what the symbol in the middle is, the one in the middle of the for loop with the index, true, and the current array value going in.  Thank you!

Thanks Darin, I didn't find it on the pre-post search for "3 arrow".
I'm glad that I'm not the only one that couldn't figure it out.  I've never done any FPGA programming, so yeah, not a lot of real world usage for it.  It was comforting to read that some of the sample exam questions are there because they were rejected as real exam questions!  I've used LabVIEW almost none since I last recertified (shifting job roles, which are shifting in a direction that I probably will use it again).  My cert is going to go into suspend mode next week, which isn't too a big deal, but I'd like to get the recert over.

You can use the contexthelp (Ctrl+h, hover mousepointer over the VI) in order to get the VIs name. If you configure the contexthelp to display the path to the VI, you will see the location on disk of this VI.
If you need to know where it is located in the function palette, you can use the Search function of the function palette and search for the VI name. Doubleclick on the name and the palette will open the appropriate page and show you where the VI is located.
    hope this helps,

  • What does this symbol (in the top right corner of the screen) mean: a lock icon with an arrow encircling it?

so there's this little icon at the top right corner of my iTouch 32GB (next to the battery icon) that's driving me crazy.
can anyone tell me what it means, and how to get rid of it?
    much appreciated
    b.

It is the Orientation lock.  To disable it or turn it off, double click your Home button and swipe your finger to the right on the Multitasking Bar.  Here you'll see the Orientation lock.  Tap it once to turn it off.

  • Please help me figure out this symbol on my 8520 homescreen

Hey everyone, I have a blackberry curve 8520 from Iwireless. I recently went to Wisconsin from Iowa and when I got back on my homescreen at the top left is a 3 next to a circle that has a white arrow in it pointing southwest and on the northeast side of the circle there is a red dot on the end of the arrow.
What is this symbol and how do I get rid of it? Pleas someone help me I've been trying to figure it out for over a week now with no luck.
    Thank you so much,
    Desirae

Hi there, if memory serves, that is likely indicating that there is an update for one or more of your applications that you downloaded from BlackBerry App World.
You can view the actual messages by going to the main Messages folder (if you don't see it, then it may be hidden - it can be exposed by going to the home screen, press the BB Menu button and select Show All).  If you can't find the messages by scrolling through, then press the BB Menu button and select View Folders.  This will give your a view of all applications which are able to leave notifications.  You can search through these and find it there.
Once you've viewed the messages, the icon should disappear.
    I hope that helps!

  • Images have ? symbol on the top right corner of the thumbnail  what does this mean and how do I remove it?

    Q - My images have a
? symbol on the top right corner of the thumbnail what does this mean and how do I remove it?
    A - The
? symbol is used to identify a file that Lightroom can no longer access; probably because it has been moved using OS drag/drop or Move command rather than Lightroom.
    Click the
? symbol will cause a small dialog will appear. This dialog will provide information as to where the file was originally located along with an option to find (Locate) it again.
As you'll quickly realise, clicking the
? symbol is fine for finding individual files that may have been relocated, but not for large numbers. There must be a better way
Look at the Folder panel (left side of Library module) and you should find that the folder/subfolder containing the files that Lightroom can no longer find are shown in Red text. It is the red text that Lightroom uses to help you identify a folder/subfolder that contains files that it has lost track off.
    On the Mac you should
Ctrl-click (right-click when using two button mouse) the folder/subfolder, a pop-up menu will appear. From the pop-up menu choose the command
Locate Missing Folder, a dialog should appear. The dialog gives you access to every hard disk connected to your computer or CD/DVDs if they're in the tray. Use this dialog to navigate to the location where the folder is now located, then select this folder (not the files). Finally, press the
Choose button and allow Lightroom to do its stuff.
The method described above also applies to the PC version although the dialog is called
    Browse for Folder and the
    Choose button is replaced by
    OK.
You can avoid getting into a situation were Lightroom looses track of your folders/subfolders by using a variation of above.
