What is this weird box?

So I opened up idvd and this weird box showed up, I have no idea what it is or what it does. I want to know how to get rid of it. I've tried restarting it and it didn't work. How can I fix this?

Hi
It is called TV-Safety area and was a function when making DVDs that was to be played on old CRT-TVs (not flat screens) and as they only show the central part of the picture (called over-scann) one needed a guid to not let text and other things disappear outside the TV-frame.
BUT THERE ARE one more thing to this.
Even if it should not be nessessary to keep inside these borders there are sort of BUG in iDVD so if texts, pictures etc touches this bodraries or pass it - RATHER often an ERROR MESSAGE appears that there is
MULTIPLEXING ERROR
So by keeping all well inside this area - It will be so much easier to get a good and functioning VIDEO-DVD as result.

  • What is this weird black outline???

What is this weird little black outline surrounding the things I select? It's very annoying and I want to get rid of it. I know I got it when I mistyped a keyboard shortcut. It's happened before but I caught it immediately and got rid of it, and now I don't remember what keyboard shortcut it was. Please Help!
Below are some screenshots of what it looks like and where it has appeared, but it's showing up everywhere and driving me crazy...

Hi Josh and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The shortcut you want is Command F5, which enables Voiceover in System Preferences>Universal Access.
    Good luck,

  • What is this weird search box?

This randomly popped up a while ago, I do not recall installing a search bar? Here's a picture of it http://gyazo.com/c927527320b23f67d813501ee553ebf0.png I heard it was an adware called Complitly, but while attempting to uninstall it, I couldn't find the program "Complitly" when I went to the control panel to uninstall it. What is this and how can I get rid of it? I'm running Windows 7, and Firefox, of course.

Try getting rid of it with ADWCleaner. Here's a LifeHacker article on it and it's completely safe: [http://lifehacker.com/adwcleaner-removes-toolbars-and-other-malware-in-one-cl-734204747 http://lifehacker.com/adwcleaner-removes-toolbars-and-other-malware-in-one-cl-734204747] http://lifehacker.com/adwcleaner-removes-toolbars-and-other-malware-in-one-cl-734204747

  • This weird box keeps popping up on my homepage--

    It says:
Allow this website to use additional space on your disk?
The website Google.comis requesting 10 MB of disk space to store (email address) as a database on your disk.  Currently the website is allowed to use 5 MB of disk space.
Then one box to click DON'T ALLOW and ALLOW
What is this.  I sure don't trust it?  Like Google needs space on my Mac.  Anyone else run into this?

It's a normal feature of Safari when visiting an HTML5 site. You can change the amount of data that sites are allowed to store in Safari > Preferences > Advanced. You can delete the stored data in Safari > Preferences > Privacy.

  • What is this weird sound when I shake the device?

@Rana80 As above you would be best to speak with your local Xperia Care team as your handset would need to be assessed by a service agent sorry.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
The sound may be coming from the camera. If you shake the phone you might hear a slight sound from the camera which is normal. But if it sounds like something is loose in the phone i recommend that you contact a service location to have it checked.

  • Weird box where apostrophe should be!

In IE, I've got this weird box where the apostrophe should
    be.
For example, I'm seeing it in this page, in the second
    paragraph, in the word "haven't".

    Any Ideas?

It's probably a curly quote pasted in from Word. Please
    replace with the
    proper HTML entities, e.g.,
    <p>Haven&rsquo;t you seen him?</p>

  • What is this (Account Unknown) SID ?

sorry.  in part, while i'm chasing this, i just want to rag about the msdn link
See relative identifier which points to itself.  grrrrr.
question:  what is this weird account   Account Unknown(S-1-5-21-xxxxxxxxxx-yyyyyyyyyy-zzzzzzzzzz-1000)  which has appeared on two different dual-boot installations?
it appeared as a security acl on every file and folder in the user folder on the older (vista) partition.  it got attached immediately upon accessing that folder the very first time
from the new windows7 installation.  when i first clicked that user folder, windows7 gave a uac prompt and said the accessibility would be made
permanent.  then it went off for about 5 minutes making this change.  that SID exactly matches the filename of a hidden folder in the $recycle.bin.
the first time i saw this, it was very alarming.  that Account Unknown descriptor has full privileges.  i struggled with icacls to remove it, but couldn't figure out how.  then by luck i discovered a very simple way to remove
this security entry globally from every user file it got attached to.  the descriptor "Applies to  This folder, subfolders, and files", so deleting the very first one at the base user folder causes a wizard to go off for another 5
minutes removing all the rest.  easy.
now i've reinstalled them, since that's how windows7 wants it to be.  but i'd like a little insight.  anybody know what this is all about?

I armed myself with a patience of Tao Master. Let's try to sort this out.
You have a dual boot computer?
Windows 7 is installed on one partition?
Windows Vista is installed on another partition?
While you run Windows 7, you check security settings of the folder on your Vista partition?
UAC warns you that you need to supply admin credentials and that the system will make permanent security settings changes to the object you are viewing?
    You confirm?
In the properties of the file/folder you see a suspicious looking accont, something like
S-1-5-21-23451392014-3753191404-2044848958-1000 that has FullControl privilege over the file/folder?
You believe it was populated by some mysterious process running in your Windows 7 when you confirmed UAC prompt?
If the above is correct, let's discuss.
    1. The suspicious looking unknown account S-1-5-21-23451392014-3753191404-2044848958-1000 is not the full account object, but it's SID. It was created in Vista and is therefore unknown to Windows 7.
    2. Permissions in objects are controlled via Access Control List (ACL's). Each list contains a number of entries, called Acess Control Entry (ACE's). ACE consists of security principal's SID, and multiple types of permissions (Read, Write, Execute etc)
, Allow or Deny, Inherited or Explicit.
IOW, the suspicious looking Unknown Account was not populated when you confirmed UAC prompt. It existed before (it was made by Vista). However, it is unknown to your Windows 7 installation, because it was created in Vista installation and lives in a
database called Security Access Manager (SAM) in Vista (Windows\System32\..).
What happened when you acknowledged UAC prompt is that Windows 7 added it's Windows 7 Administrators group with full control permission to the ACL list of your file/folder created from Vista.
If you successfuly removed suspicious looking, Unknown Account, congratulations. Your Vista installation will not work correctly and will probably go to Blue Screen.
Thank you for that patience; it completely answered a query I had between my laptop upgrade to 8 and access between it and my tower running 7, kudos for the persistence in continuing education in the case of illogical responses. I often swap external HDDs around
when tinkering so that I don't accidentally wipe my data.

  • I'm trying to share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I have tried several times to save at 1080 HD, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying "File already open with write permission."  What's this mean?

I'm trying to finalize/share to Media Browser a 20 minute still slide show with music and text. I'd like to finalize it 1080 hd and have tried several times, but just before it's finished, a message box pops up saying it can't be done because "File already open with with write permission."  What does this mean?  All files are closed; this iMovie project is the only thing open.  Does it mean one of the song files from iTunes? And should I just settle for saving it as a "large" file, which is what I'm trying right now?
    Thanks,
    Jamie

You're not obligated to insert a gift code. But you can purchase gift codes on the Apple online store (gift cards or certificates) or Apple Retail store
Gift codes are pre paid cards so you can use credit on the iTunes Store to purchase content

Hate to say it. I isolated this to only be happening with email/Mail program. Then ran Sophos Virus detector on it and it did show a trojan virus in my email spam folder. I eliminated it ; ran disk utility a couple of times and  I am good now. Spent the whole day on it though before I thought of using a virus scan... as soon as I started running sophos it stopped sending me the two minute timer as well--so just opening the virus software was able to disengage whatever was happening. My computer is all mac --no PC interface added at all. Hope that was that. Thank you for responding.

  • What's this in the box?

I have a lovely new iPod. Just one stupid question so far: What is this thing in the box? The little white thing, looks like it's some sort of protector for the dock port? What am I to do with this?
    Thanks in advance!
ibook g3 now cadidate MBP owner plus a new color ipod!   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Thanks Jeff but I don't think that's it.
It's not like a plug for a hole, it's about 4" x 3/4" and has a long hole in the middle. Looks like the ipod is meant to sit inside of it and have the cord plugged in but the ipod cannot stand up or lie flat in it. Perhaps it's some sort of adaptor, clicks into something, maybe that the old thicker ipod sat in but it does not fit in the dock of the old ipod, the new one sits in there just fine.
I'm stumped as to what it could be that Apple thought we were all going to need it.

I reset a Linksys extender, when I try to navigate Safari using The Linksys network, a Box askin for username And password pops out. What is this about?

Ask Linksys. If you reset the extender it presumably lost the username and password it was supposed to service.  I'd just supply the name and password and move on.
