  • What is Turbo Boost up to 2.7GHz

I want to know how do I do to use the turbo boost

It automatically does it for you. There is nothing to set up. It will kick in when you need it, basically like how a turbo works on a car. It kicks in when you need it and shuts off when you don't.
I hope this answers your question for you. Enjoy your Mac!

  • Does my mid 2011 macbook air have turbo boost?

what is turbo boost and does my mac have it? all answers are appreciated
    thnx guys

TurboBoost is an elevation of clock speed to help speed up certain tasks. It momentarily switches the processor to a single core running at a faster speed.  It does so in an effort to manage speed and energy efficiency.

Yes, your CPU does have it.

  • Z77a-gd65 intel i5 2500k intel turbo boost

    I have just upgraded to z77a-gd65 for my Intel I5 2500 k
    16 gb corsair vengeance ram
    120 SSD
Be quiet dark rock cooler pro
    Seagate HDD 2tb
    Tx 750 PSU
    MSI r7950 twin f
The problem is the Intel turbo boost is acting strange it is shooting up to 8. GHz which can't be possible.
The other thing is my 12 volt is saying it down to 11.889 ish never had any of these problems with the last motherboard which was a p67a-gd65 b3
And no overclock want to just use oc genie but worried with it saying 8. GHz

I can't remember what the + or - voltage variation is for +12V, but I don't think it is anything to be concerned about. Try a couple other utilities to check the CPU speed and temp/voltages. CPUID's CPU-Z and H/W Monitor are good ones.

  • Once and for all: Hyper-threading, turbo boost on Core i5 MBA?

    Hey, all.
There is a lot of conflicting information on whether the new Core i5 MacBook Airs (as opposed to the upgraded Core i7 options) support hyper-threading. As best I can gather, there is still no "official" Apple statement on the subject. I thought I'd gin up another conversation in the event someone has more definitive information. In case anyone wants a fresh bit of provocation, earlier today I asked one of Apple's online "Live Chat" experts. Here's what she said:
The Core i7 offers Triple Channel memory, hyper-threading, and full dual 16x video bandwidth.
But the i5 doesn't offer the TurboBoost or hyperthreading.
You would have to do the upgrade to the i7 for that.
    Agree? Disagree?

Here is a comparison of the three processors used for the 2011 MBA.
It would appear that the i5 does have Turbo Boost (and Hyperthreading), unless Apple's specification calls for disabling TB.
But, if we look at some of the benchmark testing, the results would seem to imply that the specification only differs by the differences shown in these charts, hence Turbo Boost would be evident across all the Airs.

  • Turbo boost problem for DV6-2170ee with Windows 7 Proffessional SP1 32 bit

    hello every body,
    For:-
    HP DV6-2170ee with I7 720 qm processor
    System: Windows 7 Professional SP1 32 bit
I have a strange problem, while i am working on battery processor can boost up to 2.6 but when i connect it to the Ac adpater charger, no boost is there?!!!!
Checked through internet and did the following:-
    1-update the bios.
2-check power option and use the same settings as in battery mode.
3-observe processor temperature through CPUID HWmonitor, it's almost 65 lower than 67 in the battery case.
4-searched allover the whole internet google .. yahooo ...
5-Each time i try to install the SP50038 which is the driver for the inter turbo boost, it gives an error message "your pc doesn't meet the minimum requirement"
TIll the moment no solution, could you please help me ?
Thank you for your time ans i hope to receive solutions soon ..
    Thanks in advance ;-)

    Hi,
To answer your last question first, the Turbo Boost Technology Driver is only intended for processors with an integrated GPU - the i7-720QM does not have this.
More difficult is why you observe no Turbo Boost on AC Power.
    Try the following.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as soon as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the Turbo Boost Technology Monitor from Intel on the following link and see what this shows.

  • Which Macbook Pros have turbo boost?

I am about to sell my 13 inch and upgrade to a refurbished 15 inch, but I want a processor with turbo boost. What time period did turbo boost processors start being available on MBP's?

  • INTEL Turbo Booster Device won't start on dv8t 1000 laptop

HP Analysis and device manager show this problem. Driver tests up to date.
What does this meaan and how do I correct it?

This is Turbo Boost Driver installing incorrect. The driver installation should have failed with Error 'This Computer does not meet the minimum requirement for installing this software'...
The TurboBoost Driver is required for Intel i5 and i7 Series Processors with Integrated Graphics on them...This Driver helps in 'TurboBoost' Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) Frequancy....Intel's Core i7-720QM, i7-740QM,i7-820QM and i7-840QM Processors, do not have Integrated Graphics on them...So this driver is not required... And The Processor TurboBoost feature works with Yellow Bang in device manager. Check below screenshot....So you can safely ignore the Yellow Bang for above stated processors.

  • Intel Turbo Boost

Can anyone show me step by step (with pictures if is possible) how to enable Intel Turbo Boost from Bios ?

Need your full model number so we can know what kind of BIOS you have and if your CPU is capable of TurboBoost.

  • Speedstep or Turbo Boost and Logic CPU Meters

I'm currently weighing up selling my remainding outboard synths and going the plugin route, so last night i loaded logic up with as many plugins as i would normally use in the equivalent of hardware audio tracks to get an idea on CPU Usage, Heat build up etc. (I run on a macbook pro in clamshell to external monitor).
Just to note, i don't normally run with the CPU meter displayed so this is all quite new to see what's going on under the hood, especially as i was making a point to watch it.
What i noticed was that the CPU meter went up very quickly to about 20-30% across all cores after the initial plugins that i loaded up.. But after that point i could load several audio units and record with them, yet they were using nowhere near the same kind of overhead the initial few used.... Dare i say it, they were hardly noticable on the load.
Now, i know that intel processors have had speedstep in the past which would slow your cpu down until the demand was there, and i'm aware that the modern cpu's have Turbo Boost which increases the core speed if required.
So, what i'm curious to know is that do plugins generally cache and have less draw on a system in multiples, or is this a case of my CPU ramping up it's capability the more i pushed it?

could you go to > http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-70498

  • Doe's the reconfigured mac mini with the 3.0GHz Dual Core i7, with 3.5GHz Turbo Boost, run at 7200 rpm?

    Hello there.
Doe's the reconfigured mac mini with the fourth generation 3.0 GHz Dual Core i7 with 3.5GHz Turbo Boost, with 1TB Fusion Drive, run at 7200rpm?
    Thanks.

Historically Apple have generally used 5400rpm hard disk drives and while the detailed information on the Apple store does not definitively say what speed hard disk the 1TB Fusion drive includes, it does make mention of testing conducted with a 5400rpm drive.
Therefore I think we can safely assume it does come with a 5400rpm 1TB hard disk. However this is not necessarily as bad as it sounds, the whole point of a Fusion drive is to automatically off-load the most commonly used files to the much faster 128GB SSD portion of the Fusion drive so overall you should get performance better than even a 7200rpm hard disk.
Finally, as far as I can see for the Mac mini it does not matter which speed model you buy they will all come with the same 1TB drive model if you chose a 1TB capacity, so the 3.0GHz Dual Core i7, 2.8GHz Dual Core i7, and 2.6GHz Dual Core i5 will all have a 5400rpm 1TB hard disk.

  • How do i turbo boost my 2.7 i7 macbook pro 15" retina to 3.7?

    Hello everyone...
...can someone tell me how to turbo boost my 2.7 i7 macbook pro 15" retina to 3.7?
Being quite new to laptops (my G4 lasted me 9 years!) I'm not quite sure what to do or look for.
    Any advice much appreciated!
    Glenn

Turbo boost isn't user controlled, it's technology that automatically (and dynamically) kicks in based on the usage of your machine. For more information:

Or just google, 'Intel Turbo Boost' for tons of resources.

  • Intel Turbo Boost Not Working

So I'm using an MSI CX41 with i5 3210m which, from 2.5 ghz, can turbo boost to around 3 ghz. I've been playing Dying Light recently and it's really laggy. I checked the monitor and it says that it's at 2.5 ghz but doesn't go higher than that. I figured this might be why my game is lagging. Any ideas?

What kind of game lag do you have? (low FPS? sudden FPS drop?)
    What's the FPS in game?
I think the problem should come from the hardware spec isn't enough for the Dying Light's minimum system requirement.
The CPU will only boosting when there is enough loading on single core.
You can try to lock the CPU to use only single core and see if the turbo boost is working.

Have you made sure you are using the high performance profile? Here is where you can check:
Double check you performance profile and make sure its on HIgh Performance. Also download CPU-Z to monitor your CPU speed. Im unsure if the turbo boost applies to all the cores of the processor. CPU-Z will give you a better idea of whats going on.
    CPU-Z
