What is Uninstalled Apps in Cellular data

My daughter's iPhone 5S has a category under Cellular called Uninstalled Apps.  It is using a lot of cellular data.  What is it?

  • Hi I  newly started using Iphone 6, I am not getting all the applications list under Use Cellular date for to restrict my unwanted apps on cellular data

Hi I  newly started using Iphone 6, I am not getting all the applications list under Use Cellular date for to restrict my unwanted apps on cellular data
    Please help me out

    Hi Rajesh778484,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that some of your applications are not appearing under Settings > Cellular on your iPhone so that you can restrict or allow use of cellular data. If you have some installed applications on your iPhone that are not showing here, the first troubleshooting step I would suggest would be to reset your iPhone. Please refer to the attached article for information on how to perform a reset.

  • Why can't i see "Find iPhone" App under cellular data so I can turn it on?

Why can't i see "Find iPhone" App under cellular data so I can turn it on?

    We have cell data plan.
I have other phones (4s) and can see "Find Phone" App under Cellular Data and can turn on/off.  But the problem phone does not have "Find IPhone" to be able toturn on/off.  I made sure app is running when i go to Cellular Data. I guess the question is why do Apps show up under Cellular Data to be able to turn on/off?  I thought if the app was made for Cellular Data it automatically showed up under Cellular Data.

  • Some apps "use cellular data" will not remain turned off

some apps "use cellular data" will not remain turned off
No matter how often I go to settings>cellular and turn off the apps, as soon as I close that screen they automatically turn back on.
I prefer not to delete the apps and reload them as I will loose the data in them when they are removed.
    Thanks for the help.

First thing and easiest thing to try is a device reset:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • How can I restrict certain apps to cellular data only?

    Product Name: iPhone 6
    Product iOS: 8.3
Background: I listen to Pandora at work through my iPhone 6. My work has pandora traffic blocked through their WiFi network. I want to keep my iPhone connected to the work WiFi because 1) I don't want to turn on and off my WiFi on my phone 2) I want to my email and other apps to use WiFi since they are not blocked.
    Current Workarounds (not a solutions):
    1) Turn off and on WiFi on iPhone 6- This is a pain/hassle and I forget to turn the WiFi back on.
    2) Switching to a different streaming music providers that aren't blocked by work WiFi- I pay for Pandora One and I like this service the best. I really don't want to switch.
    3) Download music to iPhone memory- I pay for Pandora One and I'd like to use it.
    4) Jailbreak- Not sure if this a solution but I'd rather not jailbreak my device.
Question: How can I restrict certain apps (Pandora) to use cellular data only?
    Best Regards,
    Chasen

The network settings in iOS are global and do not support assigning specific networks to specific apps. You cannot do what you describe.

  • How can I control which apps use cellular data?

Sometimes I marvel at Apple's amazingness and sometimes I can't believe the holes.  Googling around I get the impression that iOS/iPhone provides no means for a user to take control of their data plan and set which apps are permitted to use cellular data and to track cellular data usage on an app by app basis.  Am I the only one that finds it unbelievable that an operating system designed for a cell phone that supports adding piles of sometimes sketchy 3rd party apps doesn't have this baked right in?  There seem to be a few apps try monitor overall aggregate data usage, but they are useless at getting to the root cause.
So, I hope I'm just missing it.  How do I figure out which broken, buggy, misconfigured app I stupidly installed is eating my data plan?  Maybe Android is a better choice for guys like me that are too busy to play whack a mole uninstalling and reinstalling apps for hours and days to try to solve such a tedious mystery.
    Thanks!

  • Uninstalled apps using mobile data

    Hey,
I got an iphone 5C a couple weeks ago, and had no problems whatsoever. I uninstalled an app (temple run oz) last night because it froze, along with a few other apps, but having checked my mobile data section in my settings, it says that uninstalled apps are using 89mb of my mobile data - I only have 500mb for a month, how on earth do I stop uninstalled apps from eating up all my allowances?
    Thank you

I believe it was used before the apps got deleted. You an do a reset statistics and if you don't delete anymore apps, it should remain in 0. My still remains at 250 mb and I haven't deleted anymore apps.so if you monitor your cellular data usage and the data for uninstalled apps remains the same. You are good to go.

  • HT204023 What is 'sim pin' under Cellular data on my iPad mini?  How do I use that and change cards from one country to another?

I have a new ipad mini with retina display, and cellular capability.
I've learned how to set up an account and use it in the US.  I'm now traveling internationally and need to learn about changing the sim card.
My first question is about the notation under 'settings', Cellular Data, SIM PIN.  Under SIM PIN, there is an option of turning on 'sim pin' and then entering a PIN to lock the SIM.
What does SIM PIN mean in the first place?
Where does the PIN number come from?
    Thankx.
    SusanFrances

A SIM PIN, also referred to sometimes as a PUK Code is like a PIN number for your SIM card (just like your ATM Card).  Since your SIM card has your cellular account on it and can be typically removed from one device and put into another, you can lock the SIM Card with a SIM PIN if you choose.  If you activate the SIM PIN feature and forget your SIM PIN when you try to re-activate your device or a new device in the future using the same SIM Card, you may have to contact you carrier to get a new SIM Card. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1316
As far as changing the SIM Cards out because you want to use a new carrier, you can remove the SIM card fomr the old carrier and put in the SIM  card form the new carrier. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5163
I hope this helps clear things up.

  • Settings App needs Cellular Data??

Since the install of iOS 8 on my iPhone 5 I went in and verified which of my installed Apps get access to cellular data.  In doing this I noticed that the Settings App is now listed.  I couldn't for the life of me figure out why this particular app would need to access data, let alone data that I'm paying for so I shut is off.  Now every time I access Settings I'm interrupted and have to acknowledge this choice.  SUPER annoying.
Apple, Why does this App need my data access and why should it be turned on?

Is it just one app? Did you try deleting and reinstalling it? The app could be buggy and you should try to find an alternative.

  • HT201299 I can't use my other apps in cellular data .. Only facetime and passbook .. How can i enable it ? There's no option to toggle it .. Please help.

HOw can I enable my cellular data in using my apps even without toggling ? I mean there's no toggle option on my other apps .. Please help me.. Apps like facebook , skype instagram and any other social apps . And also clash of clans ..

You have to restore your iPhone to factory reset using iTunes and make it as a new iPhone.

  • Cellular data is on for apps in my iPhone 6 plus but the app itself is telling me I have to turn it on in settings. How am I supposed to turn on something that's already on?

App says cellular data needs to be on under settings but already is.

Is it just one app? Did you try deleting and reinstalling it? The app could be buggy and you should try to find an alternative.

  • Cellular data turned on error

i restored my apple 4S backup to 5S.. After turned  on cellular date and using apps, it says CELLULAR DATA IS TURNED OFF FOR "APPS NAME"   all the time all in-build apps. but cellular data is always turned on and i can't tuerd off one by one apps.. and after i tured off and go back and come againg it is tunred on again. but i can't search "SAFARI, MAPS,APP STORE, how can i fix this problem.........?

So with that Corrective Map of the world, does that mean that everyone has to walk on their hands?
Here's what my screenshots show under Cellular:
No Safari . I'd like to know what makes it show up differently. Must have something to do with the cellular service itself, it seems like. And even under my Settings>Safari, the "Use Cellular Data" is only there to save Reading List items. Do you have that setting in Settings>Safari?
Maybe it varies depending on what type of cellular plan you have....
    It's a mystery to me.
    Cheers,

  • What are the settings for apn data and mms for iphone 4 on straight talk?

what are the settings for cellular data network APN DATA and MMS for Straighttalk sims on IPhone 4?I cant send or recieve pictures. My service keeps losin signal constantly saying no service then 1 bar,2 bars,3 bars...then back down to no service. It drops calls.Iv been trying to find out the answer to this problem for 2 weeks!I have no Profile selection in my settings either to do wat its showing online on one website.and have entered numerous diffrent APNs and none have worked!!!!PLEASE HELP!!!

They're asking a question about carrier settings for their iPhone. I think that has everything to do with Apple.
Maybe they did already ask Straight Talk. I've called Straight Talk before... they're not too helpful.
You know, this forum would be much friendlier if people in this forum would quit squabbling, & posting comedic replies, not too mention name calling (like I did), when people are just needing some help.
It's also frustrating that people stick up for the guy who doesn't help, but rather takes the time to post some smart alec reply. Granted, I shouldn't have name-called... some people just frustrate me when they act like that.
Admittedly, there ARE some grey areas when it comes to carrier questions... but let the moderators do their job when someone is asking innappropriate stuff. And if the mods aren't chiming in, then that's a good indication that what the thread is about IS in fact Apple related.

  • Music app streaming w/ data off and no WIFI

I've experienced issue after being new to tiered data plans. I've had years of grandfathered data plan but finally decided to switch since I didn't seem to use  lot of data in order to lower my monthly bill.
Let me start by saying I work for an un-named WIFI company. Meaning Im around WIFI for over 8 hours a day and WIFI at home. After receiving my iPhone 6 i'm almost at my plans limit of 1GB. I've already upgraded to 2GB. I did some research and found a few issue. I had to load my phone from scratch due to the rep pushing me threw the connection screen and not allowing me to do a restore. After a bit , I thought this was a good idea since I had an iPhone 4 w/ ios7. Since iPhone 6 was on IOS 8 I moved forward.
So I noticed that my apps and photos were downloading w/ data despite being connected to WIFI. After some dinging I've determined this is due to WIFI being dropped when the phone is in a sleep state. Seems this same issue is accounting for over 50MB of data in the middle of the night. Needles to say i've changed some habits quickly.
    No background refresh!
Turned off all diagnostic info pushes!
Turned off the majority of apps using Cellular data!
I also turn off Cellular Data when im at work or home for extended periods on WIFI! This seems to be the only true way to get all your apps to use WIFI,
So this leads me to the issue Ive seen and cant explain.  I bought a 16GB model which only seems to have available 12.2GB ( Thanks apple for dropping yet another GB of over all available space on the phone, I would have got a bigger phone knowing this.) Since my space is limited I like to stream my music on WIFI instead of downloading it to the phone. To accomplish this I turn on Show all MUSIC under iTunes and APP Store. This gives me a link with in the music app. When i have a internet connection it streams the song. Due to data consumption issue i have disabled the Music App under Cellular Data. This means that outside of WIFI connection I wont be able to play streaming music from the Music App.
IRONICALLY, this doesn't seem to be the case! I can stream music when i'm in my car. To be clear, i am not connected to WIFI with the Cellular data turned on for the phone but off for the Music app. This has to be a bug!  Any thoughts or experiences like this?

So I think I have figured this out.  Seems the way the music app is displaying has changed compared to IOS 7. It would clearly show the difference between a downloaded song and streaming song. Seems just registering the phone downloaded about 133 songs. Not sure how it chose them other than maybe last downloaded songs. With the show all songs feature for iTunes turned on, All my songs looked like streamers even though a few were downloaded. Some of the streamers were grey and some were black. Black ones were downloaded. So if anyone else is wondering here's the answer.
