What is up with my "Keywords & Containing Keywords" box?

I have the Time Warner Center location in New York City nested this way:  WORLD REGIONS & COUNTRIES>North America>United States of America>New York>NYC>New York City>Manhattan>Time Warner Center.
After uploading images to LR2 I began keywording by typing "Time Warner ..." and then it autofilled the rest. I entered the keyword.  After I did so, I switched to the "Keywords & Containing Keywords" box and this is what I saw.  Is this what is going to appear when I export the file to my PhotoShelter archive?  I've not seen this before and don't understand what has caused it.  It is crazy.

It looks like this because you have duplicate keywords in your Lightroom catalog — one in an hierarchy and one stand-alone. For example, if the keyword panel shows you a keyword in a form of "Manhattan > New York", that mean that you have applied the hierarchical Manhattan keyword, but the catalog also has a stand-alone Manhattan. Check you keyword list to see.
When you export, the keywords will be exported as a flat list, not as a hierarchy and they will not contain the ">" symbols. All keywords in an hierarchy tree will be exported (as stand-alone flat keywords), except those that have "Include on Export" deselected in their properies (right-click a keyword in the keyword list to check this).

  • How to customize quick query to search with SQL in contain keyword

    I want to build simple query using quick query component. But it will search with SQL equal keyword. How can I customize it to use contain keyword instead. That means, I enter 'sc' to return 'scott'.

    Not sure if the technique described here http://tompeez.wordpress.com/2011/08/21/extending-viewcriteria-to-use-sql-contains-4/ can be used for quick query, but you can try ...

  • Library filter keyword search odd results for containing keywords

    I have a keyword tree Family>Smith>Peter.  I used the library filter keyword containing "family". This produced a large list of images and in the keyword tag box I saw the word "Family" with an asterix. I deleted the family keyword from the list and save the metadata.  i was epxecting my filter to show no photos but it still shows the same number.  It would seem that althoguh no photo has the keyword "family" on it they still show up in the filter because they contain "peter" and this is a child of "family".
    Is this normal behavior as extremely irritating as trying to rationalise al lthe parent keywords that have bene accidentally exported.  If I only want photos where family is a keyword is there anyway I can do that?
    Thanks Mike

    The problem is I lable close family by name, but large family groups as "family".  If I just want photos with large family groups I should be able to search by keyword "family" and only get images that have that as a tag.  However I get these plus any photo that has any keyword that is beneath "family" in the hierachy.  I have turned of the export function so an image with just "peter" does not show "family" under the "will export" keywords.
    It seems the default search is by keyword and everything below it. Is there some setting that it will only return images that just contain the actual keyword asked for?

  • What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption etc?

    What's the difference and purpose of Keywording and metadata such as title and caption, crator, sublocation , label etc?  Where & how is the information used?  Where does it appear?

    Keywording is primarily for your own use for finding photos fast.
    Title, Caption, etc are also for your own use but can be used by your clients or your stock company if you do not <Minimize Embedded Metadata> on export. Keywords are also included on export but are hardly of any use to others - unless you follow a standard for keywording.
    You have the option of selecting title, caption, etc to appear in a Slide Show, on Print, or on a webpage created with LR.
    If you go to the LR Help menu and type "title", or "caption" in the search box you will find plenty of advice for this.

  • Contains keyword not function

    Dear all,
    I've got another problem.
    When I'm using contains keyword with my resource_view, it cannot return any result, but I can sure the text must appear in the xml file:
    select * from resource_view where contains(res,'123.AB') >0
    But the strange is not all the record cannot be selected, some can be but some can't be.
    Does any body have any ideas for this?
    Thanks and Regards
    Ray

    Dear drake,
    It's fine after the index are synchronized.
    Actually I want to make the index more "instant" as there are record insert in it frequently.
    After read some of the article and found that it can be done by create the context index with parameter 'transactional', but seems there are pretty big effort on it.
    So I want to ask is it possible to update/synchronize part of the data? (ex. only update the index within the sme directory in webdav repository)
    Thanks and Regards
    Ray

  • Keyword Containing Count Missing in LR3

    In LR2 the keywords panel shows a count for the parent keywords, in LR3 this seems to be missing. For example I have a New Zealand keyword tag under Country which has a count of 17. Below this NZ keyword are North Island and South Island with counts of 2197 and 8132 respectively. In LR 2 there is a total of these two keywords showing against the parent keyword of New Zealand. Is there an option I need to have checked or something like that? The North and South Island keyword options are checked for export containing keyword, and they show under the Will Export Keywording panel. Seems a little confusing, obviously this is also happening for other countries and other keywords with children, e.g. wildflowers under flora....

    As Lee Jay has pointed out, this is by design. Lightroom now only displays a count for explicit keywords.

  • LR or Bridge Bug: Keyword Container

    If you import images already keyworded using Bridge (Keyword Container)
    For example:
    Container (Places)
    Subkey (United Kingdom)
    Subkey (London)
    Container (Immediate Family)
    Subkey (Mom)
    Subkey (Dad)
    I found that some images with keyword tree structure don't show keywords with container and subkeys correctly in Lightroom.(keyword tree structure breaks)
    The images that do not correctly show the keywords with its subkey and container have an extra string of code under http://ns.adobe.com/lightroom/1.0/ (when you view the file info in Bridge under Advanced).
    The string starts with: lr:privateRTKInfo: (and random letters and numbers)
    If one deletes this string the keywords show correctly in Lightroom.
    Now i have to go through tons of photos to delete that extra string. (hopefuly in batch).
    Any idea where that extra line comes from?
    OS: Windows XP SP2
    Lightroom 1.1
    Bridge 2.1.0.100

    Thanks. I searched but never found that message. I looked at my files in Bridge and I do not have that extra line of code. I also did another test where I started from scratch using the keywords imported into LR from Bridge. The first import put the keywords in the right Child place. The 2nd import started putting all Children as Parents using the same keyword as the Child already there.

  • Issue in performing search using advanced search web part with any of these keywords.

    Hi,
    I am implementing advanced search web part, and i have added few columns [  these columns are doc lib columns and NOT site columns ],property restrictions dropdown.
    and when i  try to search for the documents,  contents from the subsites with the applied item from the property restrictions dropdown and with  "contains" keyword , and  filled-in the "any of these keywords"
    textbox,
    the search results  are not displayed , though there are multiple documents which has the keywords.
    am i missing any steps  here.? i have ensured that managed properties  were created and added in the properties.xml file in the adv.search web part's properties.

    hi Steve,
    thnx for the reply.
    here is my xml file details:

    am using the managedproperties without spaces. the problem is that, when i give  the word/words
    in the "any of these words" textbox and  if i give a value with the "contains" dropdown
    its not allwoing me give proper results.
    After adding these property restrictions i have done the full crawl again.
    @Steven Adnrews: i have done the full crawl, multiple times. Though these columns are NOT created as site columns, it came as managed properties in my Srch Serv.Appln, search schema page.
    @Fabian: i am not getting your point.Can you pls tell,where will I see the xsl. i  think, the xsl editor and xsl configuration has been replaced by html display templates in SP 2013 Search.

  • I had two iPhoto libraries. I erased one of them (which disappeared in the paperbasket - as planned. The otherone, however has now lost all its Keywords... Is there anything what I can do to get my keywords back????

    I had two iPhoto Libraries with different content (on an external drive). I had to erase one of the libraries, and it disappeared - as planned - in the paperbasket.
    The other (untouched) library, however has now lost all Keywords, and it needs quite awhile (the ball is spinning "for hours") to build up all events (order still like before the keyword desaster.
    What can I do to get the keywords back?
    Börries

    To be more clear: All fotos had been "imported to their foto libraries" by just standard means - no shifting no erasion etc. etc. just regular Upload in one of the two iPhoto libraries by "import".
    "Or load your backup from before this happened"
    This answer seems to be pretty close to a solution - but, I need help in a step-by-step-way:
    My library is located on an external LaCie hard drive - which is to the best of my knowledge not covered by Time Machine. With other words: Time Maschine is not useful here. Is there another backup procedure (possibly from within iPhoto) which I could use to rebuild the keywords from an earlier backup. That would solve 99% of my problems and is fine.
    Sorry for being so helpless, but it seems to me as if you had come quite close to a solution....
    Best,
    Börries

  • IPhoto doesn`t work correctly with german "umlaut" (ä,ö,ü) in keywords

    iPhoto doesn`t work correctly with german "umlaut" (ä,ö,ü) in keywords. They get to ä̈,ö̈, ü̈ when I write the keyword a second time. Can anybody tell me why. Thank you. Heinz

    It apparently does not like non-standard English characters - use A-Z and 0-9 adn you should be OK

  • Saving ai file with title, description and keywords to jpg

    Hi,
    Is ther a way to save an ai file to eps and jpg   including the document title, the description and keywords in the xmp file info?
    JPD

    Hi,
    I was wondering if I can get the Description and keywords from an ai file
    then
    add theese to a created jpg or eps with something like this:
    ---snip     SaveForStocks-10.js version 1.1 ---
      // Export as a jpg
      targetFile = new File(destFolder + '/' + name1);
      Doc.exportFile( targetFile, fileType, jpgExportOpts );
    --- snip---
    ---snip     http://forums.adobe.com/thread/478694?tstart=60 --
    #target bridge
    addNametoMeta = {};
    addNametoMeta.execute = function(){
      var sels = app.document.selections;
      for (var i = 0; i < sels.length; i++){
    var md = sels[i].synchronousMetadata;
        md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
        var Name = decodeURI(sels[i].name).replace(/\.[^\.]+$/, '');
        md.Keywords = md.Keywords +  ";" +  Name;
    ----- snip----

  • Incompatibility issue with imported images losing keywords and other metada

    I am reposting this with a more descriptive title in hopes that the powers that be will look into this. This really nice piece of software is currently doubling the time in my workflow by having to re-input keywords, etc. after importing.

    I am getting the opposite result. I have lost a lot of my keywords and various other data input in Bridge. Is there a setting I'm missing? I also put in Country name, city, state, contact, etc. in my Brdige metadata, but this is not importing with the RAW files. I am referencing images if that matters, although it shouldn't.

    I also used Bridge/ACR to rate and add keywords to RAWS (Canon) and also used Adobe DNG converter to make DNG files from these.
    No ratings or keywords have imported for any RAWs and DNGs. And, for some DNG files (which I can see in Bridge and iViewMedia), they cannot be displayed in Aperture. It's very strange since I've used the same workflow to create the DNG files over the past year. Some can be imported/viewed, some cannot be viewed. All originally from the same camera/RAW file. I've read in this forum that Aperture cannot read things like keywords from sidecar files.
    I am hopeful that Apple will make DNG sidecar file import a big priority.

    I have been testing Lightroom since beta 2, but after reading The DAM Book, I decided to hold off committing to LR since it was not clear that it would fit into the workflow recommended in the book.
    I had processed some of my recent photos, adding ratings and keywords (and doing some editing - but I knew that was not necessarily permanent due to LR's incompatibility with PS/Bridge when it came to metadata).
    I had briefly looked at Aperture a while back, but was turned off by the price (then $500) and the fact that it couldn't reference the original files. When the 1.5 demo came out with its improvements, I tried it and loved it! After much thought about the workflow I had developed, I decided that I could alter it so that Aperture would fit in - in fact it would be my main app (giving up Bridge/ACR/iViewMedia Pro).
    As per The DAM Book, I had begun converting my Canon RAWs to DNG (fortunately kept most of my RAWs). The first thing I discovered in the demo (I have since purchased the app, 1.5.1) was the fact that none of my ratings and keywords came through. Also, I used the color labels in Bridge to help during the evaluation phase, those didn't come through either, but I expected that. As I also noted in the previous post, some of my DNGs can't be viewed in Aperture even though they can be viewed in Bridge and iViewMedia.
    Fortunately, I had not "processed" all that many photos in my collection, so I can easily start again with the ratings and keywords. BUT there will be many photographers who have, and if Aperture hopes to tempt them away from LR or the other workflows, the Apple team should seriously consider providing support for Adobe's keywords/ratings found in sidecars and perhaps in DNGs. Also, good support of DNGs might be another thing to look at, as many users have been converting from RAW as I have.
    Just my three cents (inflation).

    You need to reinstall OS X:
    Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
