What is user group

Hi,
In addition to the above information,
Whether your requirement is to find out which user groups your domain user belongs to?
If this matches your requirement, you can run the below command from command prompt,

  • What is the Advantage of creation of user group through SUGR?

    Hello Masters,
As per audit requirement I have maintained user groups for different sets of users through SUGR, but I am not getting except differenciating users (based on group), is there any other advantage? Can we assign role to a user group instead of assigning to list of users  or can we do any mass changes to an user group by giving only user group name.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

    Dear Neels,
Apart from maintaining user group for Differnciation purpose you can also take the advantage on the following sectors:
    1. Follow the http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/ce/17533e5ff4d064e10000000a114084/content.htm link . From this you will come to know the use of user group in the authorisation area.
    2. User Groups also allow segregation of user maintenance, this is especially useful in a large organisation as you can control who your user admin team can maintain - an example would be giving a team leader the authority to change passwords for users in their team.
    3. The authorization user group is used in conjunction with S_USER_GROUP authorization object. It allows to create security management authorization by user group. e.g. you can have a local security administrator only able to manage users in his groups, Help-Desk to reset password for all users except users in group SUPER, etc...
In case any issue, please feel free to reply.
    Regards,
    Nilutpal.

  • TS5292 What do I do if my original user account is not showing up in the Users & Groups window?

I can't find any of my mom's information that was on her computer before I convinced to do the upgrade. HELP!!!!!
I did the upgrade on my iMac with no problems.

First, back up that folder. I don't think anything will happen to it, but I wouldn't take a chance.
Next, go to Users & Groups and create a new account.
Set the short user name to the exact same as that folder.
When you create the account, it should warn that a home folder already exists and allow you to use it. Select that option.
You should then be able to log into that account and everything will be as it was.
Make sure you use the same password so that keychain will unlock normally.

  • What happened to user/group preferences in lion server?

I am installing Lion server and using am using the new server admin tools.  The user/groups function is very different than Leopard/Snow Leopard.  Many of the parameters are missing.  We use the group preferences to restrict access to printers.  That function seems to be missing.

    jimshaughn
The print service has been eliminated from Lion so the old familiar way is gone.
However if you set up the Profile Manager service and then go to the management website of your server linked in the Server application, I believe you will be able to limit printers to specific users and groups.  I have not implemented it yet, but I do remember seeing those options in there when I began looking at it.  The difficulty with the Profile Manager is that it appears to require that the clients be 10.7.  The new abilities in Profile Manager are actually pretty nice and seem easier to configure than WGM / Server Admin in my cursory review of the settings and options.
I am moving servers first so for me this is a bit of a challenge for me too since our clients are still 10.6.  I had to bring computers and groups into the OD via WGM which will still cover the old machines.  Control is split until all clients are up to date which is a little frustrating.
Have you set up the printers on the server itself and then edited the users/groups from WGM on the server itself which may allow you to still add the printers attached directly?  It appears that you can still do that.
    Hope this helps.

  • Applying "User Groups" -- What do I get?!

I am able to assign a user to a user group using the User Admin in Apex.
I don't know how I would be able to assign a role (that I know how to define that for an individual user).
The only thing I can see is a name for User Group and a Description!
My requirement is to define a group of people to be assigned to one group/role, so that every change to that role can be automatically be applied to each user in that group.
    any idea?
    cheers,
    Mehr

    Hi,
You create groups and assign users to those.
Then you need develop authorization schema that utilize user group information.
    15.5 Providing Security Through Authorization
I'm not sure do I understand question/problem correctly.
Also, it is better post APEX related question in Application Express forum

  • How can I delete a user group that my computer will not delete?

I tried to remove a user group from my desktop following the procedures given. I could remove all but one user.
This is the one I want to remove. How can I do this? I have 4 user groups. Why?, when ever I had trouble and called AppleCare
they had me install a new user group, which I never removed.

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    dscl . -read /groups/admin GroupMembership
You should get the following output below what you entered:
    GroupMembership: root admin1 admin2 ...
where admin1, admin2, ... are the names of the admin users. Is the output what you expect?

  • HELP - Modify user group by bulk un CUCM 8.6

    Hi guys,
I am having problem by update/modify user group on CUCM.
There are already some users within user group with admin privileges. That should be changed, so I created a group with some privileges and then I tried to change the usergroup by bulk. but the bulk ADDS the usergroup to the correct and maintain both.
After that I decided to have 2 rows, for the same user, one for the group with empty space (to delete it), and another with the new usergroup. But CUCM does not either do that. it sills maintain the user group..
Does anyone has successfully changed the user group by bulk?
    I will appreciate your advices.

  • Restricting certain users groups to read only for certain folders

    Hi
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but hey, hopefully someone might now the answer or direct me to the correct one.
I'm writing a VB program to amend ACLs for specific user groups.
Effectively, I make all prior year folders read only, whereas the default for the group is Modify, Delete etc.  This means they can continue to work in the "new year folders", but historic years is List/read only.
I've got to the point the program does everything I want, i.e. stops folder creation7deletion, file & folder name changes, copying for the historic years, but does not prevent deletion of files in the folder.  Effectively I set Deny access on the
    historic folders.
Testing using the Windows GUI would appear to resolve the problem is I change the Deny Special Permission (for the group) from "This folder only" to "This folder & files".
Question then is how to I set this in VB, the default appearing to be "This folder only"
    Here's extract of my code
    Thanks
    IfvarDirectoryName.IndexOf("\"&
    Date.Now.Year) = -1
    Then
                FileAcl3.AddAccessRule(
    NewFileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0),
    FileSystemRights.Modify,
    AccessControlType.Deny))
                FileAcl3.AddAccessRule(
    NewFileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0),
    FileSystemRights.DeleteSubdirectoriesAndFiles,
    AccessControlType.Deny))
                FileAcl3.RemoveAccessRule(
    NewFileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0),
    FileSystemRights.ReadAndExecute,
    AccessControlType.Deny))
                FileAcl3.RemoveAccessRule(
    NewFileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0),
    FileSystemRights.ListDirectory,
    AccessControlType.Deny))
    Dim FileInfo3 As IO.FileInfo = New IO.FileInfo(varDirectoryName)
    Dim FileAcl3 As New FileSecurity
    If varDirectoryName.IndexOf("\" & Date.Now.Year) = -1 Then
    FileAcl3.AddAccessRule(New FileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0), FileSystemRights.Modify, AccessControlType.Deny))
    FileAcl3.AddAccessRule(New FileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0), FileSystemRights.DeleteSubdirectoriesAndFiles, AccessControlType.Deny))
    FileAcl3.RemoveAccessRule(New FileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0), FileSystemRights.ReadAndExecute, AccessControlType.Deny))
    FileAcl3.RemoveAccessRule(New FileSystemAccessRule(GroupAdmin(0), FileSystemRights.ListDirectory, AccessControlType.Deny))
    FileInfo3.SetAccessControl(FileAcl3)
    End If

    Ho Rohn
Your right, when I added the flags I got the following error at execution
    {"No flags can be set. Parameter name: inheritanceFlags"}
I've developed a work around, which gives me exactly - subject to further testing - what I want.  I simply mark each file in the relevant folders with a Deny Delete option.
I will however explore the DirectorySecurity class option, but initial review of the www seems a little shy on VB examples.
    Thanks
    Perry
You should be able to use FileSecurity and DirectorySecurity the same way (they have identical methods). Since this is a scripting forum, I'll provide a PowerShell example (which is fairly close to C# and VB; they all use the exact same classes):
    $varDirectoryName = "c:\folder"
    $GroupAdmin = "Admin Group"
    $FileInfo3 = New-Object System.IO.DirectoryInfo $varDirectoryName
    $FileAcl3 = $FileInfo3.GetAccessControl()
    $FileAcl3.AddAccessRule((New-Object System.Security.AccessControl.FileSystemAccessRule (
    $GroupAdmin,
    [System.Security.AccessControl.FileSystemRights]::Modify,
    ([System.Security.AccessControl.InheritanceFlags]::ContainerInherit -bor [System.Security.AccessControl.InheritanceFlags]::ObjectInherit),
    [System.Security.AccessControl.PropagationFlags]::None,
    [System.Security.AccessControl.AccessControlType]::Allow
    $FileInfo3.SetAccessControl($FileAcl3)
I could have taken a lot of shortcuts when using the enumerations, but I think keeping it verbose helps show how similar the code can be.
    Does that make sense?

    Hi GirtsR,
I am not sure the command to use the SID to accomplish what you want to achieve, if you only know the SID, you could take use Powershell to find the related information, more information, please check:

  • Server App not seeing external LDAP users & groups

I have a clean 10.8.2 + Server install set up with our standard external LDAP directory (Novell's eDirectory in our case) configuration that is known to support Lion & Mountain Lion client LDAP authentication. With this same configuration on OS X 10.8.2 Server both Directory Utility and WGM can see all the LDAP users and groups as expected.
When I look for the external users & groups in the LDAP domain under the Server App "Accounts" heading I cannot see any entries in either users or groups lists. Should I be able to or is this a Server App quirk?
I can add individual LDAP users to a local group and enable access to individual services. How can I give access to services to all LDAP users without having to build & maintain a massive "All LDAP Users" local group?
Is there a published list of required LDAP attributes for users & groups for Mountain Lion Server? I suspect there are new requirements over and above those for 10.6 server but I have failed to find a good reference. I've noticed I get different behaviours for LDAP templates that includes a mapping for GeneratedUID to one which does not for example.
This is all so much more opaque than our superbly reliable Snow Leopard servers!
    TIA

    Ok, and again:
You want to see Users and Groups , which are stored in an third Party directory service like OpenLDAP, in your Server.app? This is what you have to do:
Connect the third party ldap to your server
Have all your external LDAP entries made so you can see them in the Workgroup Manager and are able to Login with them
When you see your LDAP-entry in the Directory Manager, change it from "From Server" to "RFC2307"
Edit the entry, add the following mapping to it:GeneratedUUID maps to apple-generateduuid
To your group and user entries in the external LDAP add the follwing attribute:apple-generateduuid gets the value taken from the output of "uuidgen"
    Feel lucky
And there ist ist; now you are able to use The accounts taken from an external LDAP.

  • Mac book pro Users & Groups deleting problems

I have a Macbook Pro, i believe its a 2008 15 inch, thats just come back from the repair shop.
I added another user (through Users and Groups) changed the settings so that person was the admin and deleted the original user.
Now after roughly an hour it is still saying that it is "deleting user" and if i try to close the window it says -
"System Preferences is busy and can't be closed. Users & Groups preferences is removing a user account and saving the Home Directory to a disk image"
How do i get about this? i do not want it frozen there, is that a way i can cancel all and start again or get it to hurry up and delete?
    Thanks

You asked it to save the old User's files, and it is converting them to a Disk Image.
What you asked for is complex, and it will take some time.

  • SAP Query, user groups, revoking 'change' rights

    Hi,
I have a problem regarding SAP Queries and revoking the change rights. This is what I have done:
    1. Created the new user group in SQ03
    2. Created the new InfoSet (SQ02), assigned it to the above UG (SQ03)
    3. Created the new user, assigned it to the UG in SQ03 and removed the Change checkbox (revoke change rights)
    4. Logged on as the new user
    5. Started SQ01, switched user group to the new one
    6. Created the new SAP query based on the new InfoSet, run the query
As I understand the principles of user groups and queries, I wasn't supposed to be allowed to do the step 6 as the new user, as it was revoked the change rights. Why wasn't I stopped?
I searched for reply in previous posts - everybody agrees on principles, but I didn't find explanation on why it doesn't work.
    Thanks in advance!
    KR,
    Igor

The table AQGDBBN seems to display a mapping of User Group with use rindeed but the results are less than the actual assignment. And the mapping does not have the Z query usergroups that have users assigned in SQ03.
Anything that I may be missing?
    Thanks,
    Kashif
