Hi,
The universal worklist enables SAP portal users to manage their work by bringing together tasks from different workflow systems, including:
-->    Workflows
-->    Alerts
-->     Knowledge Management (KM) notifications
-->     Collaboration tasks
The universal worklist is used as the central access point to tasks, alerts, and notifications. You can access the UWL to manage and track your tasks.
The universal worklist:
-->     Gives you a unified and centralized way to access your work and the required information
-->      Aggregates workflow tasks from different systems in one worklist
-->     Displays additional information as required from document and object repositories, including attachments and other details
-->     Helps you to make decisions and execute actions
-->     Allows you to personalize the presentation of work items
-->     Allows portal users to assign another user as their substitute for work items in case of absence
Yes UWL is a kind of an iview but for that you need to configure UWL in your portal.
