What is WAN compression on AOS 6.4.3.0 and it`s use case?

Q: What is WAN compression on AOS 6.4.3.0 and it`s use case?
A: This feature is supported from AOS 6.4.3.0 and above.
The 7000 Series Controllers contain the Compression/Decompression Engine (CDE) that compresses the raw IP payload data and also decompresses the compressed payload data
Deflation & Inflation
The CDE compression process is called Deflation; the decompression process is called Inflation.
XLP 4xx and XLP2xx Packet Processor Card is a high-performance network processor PCI Express card designed for use in PCI Express compliant systems.
It features the latest Broadcom XLP 4xx series processor with up to 2.5 Gbps per CDE.
This processor is ideally suited to both data-plane applications, which are inherently sensitive to memory latencies, and control-plane applications, which will help best-in-class processing performance.
Advantages
Four CDE channels on the XLP4XX processor and one CDE channel on the XLP2XX processor.
2.5 GBps per CDE (Deflation process, Inflation process, or combination of both)
Deflation context save and restore (at block boundaries)
Inflation context save and restore (at arbitrary file position)
Load balancing the input messages to all CDEs
The Compression/Decompression Engine feature is enabled by default. However, the packets are compressed only if the IP Payload Compression Protocol (IPComp) is successfully negotiated via the Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol.
Use-case
Data compression reduces the size of data frames that are transmitted over a network link, thereby reducing the time required to transmit the frame across the network. IP payload compression is one of the key features of the WAN bandwidth optimization solution, which is comprised of the following elements:
You can split a file or data into blocks, and each block can use the mode of compression that suits it best. In this case, it is packet data and there will be only one block.
IP Payload Compression
Traffic Management and QoS
Caching
Recommendation
Boc (Branch office controller)can have traffic to destinations other than HQ on the same link, the preferred method is to enable payload compression on the IPsec tunnel between the branch controller and the master controller.
IP Payload needs to be enabled only between Aruba devices.
Notes
When this hardware-based compression feature is enabled, the quality of unencrypted traffic (such as Lync or Voice traffic) is not compromised through increased latency or decreased throughput.

They didn't do the NVIDIA test on it? At this point I guess it really doesn't matter. It sounds like it needs a new logic board, which has the GPU soldered on it. Price-wise, it's not worth having Apple put a new LB in it, given its age. If you're handy inside a laptop, you might consider installing a used LB yourself if you can find one on eBay, etc. Not good news, I know.

  • I bought my iphone unlocked from carephone warehouse, I had a problem with the phone and apple swapped it over but they locked it to tmobile!!! what can i do?? I have changed contracts and can not use my phone!

I bought my iphone from carephone warehouse, sim free and with no contract. 5 months down the line I had a problem with the phone and I booked a genius appointment, they swapped my phone and gave me a new phone but they locked my phone to tmobile!!! I now do not use tmobile and I have an iphone which is locked to tmobile!!! I bought an unlocked phone and apple have locked it!!! what can i do?

In response to this, Carphone Warehouse (and Phones4U) sell what is commonly referred to as "sim free" handsets - these are not the same as unlocked. Sim free handsets will automatically lock to the first network sim card that the phone is activated with, and that will be permanently. The only way to unlock the handset would be to go through the network (T-Mobile I understand) and request they unlock it for you. More than likely, there will be a charge as you are no longer a T-Mobile customer.
If you ever want to purchase a new unlocked iPhone, the only place you can buy one is from Apple directly. Any other place will most likely sell sim free handsets.

EDIT: BAH! I posted too slow... but there is still some information about saving and clearing in there
Its for making a playlist while your 'on the go'. So you click and hold the middle button the selected song (or album) should flash... Then you go into the playlist menu (music>playlists>on-the-go) and use it like any normal playlist...
When there's songs on the playlist it gives you the option to save or clear at the end of the song list, you select either one and it'll ask for conformation.
It works in both manually sync and auto sync mode. But if you have it on auto sync the play list will be created in iTunes...
So I'm not sure why you don't see songs in it after yo assign them to it, try sending a whole album and then music>playlists>on-the-go the album songs should be listed.
As for reasons to use it well maybe while out and about you realise that you want to hear from two artists at the same time, Radiohead and Bowie, in a shuffle mode. You could make it a on-the-go playlist. Or there's a few podcasts you want to hear in order... so you go down the list and assign them to on-the-go.
Some people use the On the go to note songs that need to be looked at in iTunes later, maybe because its too quiet, badly imported or they don't understand how such a bad song found its way onto the iPod.
Once you save it if you try and put more songs to it, 'on-the-go-1' will be created.
    -hope this helps

  • What type of compression does the new version of QT use?

I just opened a 1080p video shot with a AVCHD camera, did a basic trim and exported at 1080p.
What type of compression is the version of QT that comes with Mavericks applying to the video? Is it heavily compressed?

Hi Jasper and welcome to Discussions,
    iMac Computers (August 2007)
The iMac Computers introduced in August 2007, based on the Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor, provide two RAM slots that accommodate 200-pin DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMMs up to 1.25” in height. The SO-DIMMs must be DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) compliant and must be unbuffered, unregistered, 8-byte, nonparity, and non-ECC.
The iMac ships with one 1 GB, 667 MHz, SDRAM SO-DIMMs installed, for a total of 1 GB. The largest capacity SO-DIMM supported is 2 GB, for a total maximum of 4 GB.
Memory configure-to-order options are: two 1 GB DIMMs for a total of 2 GB or two 2 GB DIMM for a total of 4 GB.
The memory controller supports 1 GB and 2 GB SO-DIMMs; other configurations are untested. Because the memory in the two slots is configured as a contiguous array of memory, when both SO-DIMMs are the same size and type, the interleaving function is able to improve performance.
The iMac supports a CAS latency of 5.
The width of each 667 MHz memory bus is 64 bits.
The maximum number of devices per SO-DIMM is 16.

    Stefan

  • What kind of compression does Acrobat do when files are combined?

I'm working with some raster print media (specifically PNGs) that I've combined and saved into PDFs for easier printing. The original files are 300dpi scans, lossless compression.
This is the process I follow:
select files to combine in Windows Explorer
right click > Combine supported files in Acrobat
    File size: Default
wait for the new binder to open in Acrobat
Save As > Save as type > Adobe PDF Files (*.pdf)
So it looks like there are two steps where possible compression occurs, 2 (combine) and 5 (save).
2: The "Default" file size button tooltip says all files are kept at their original quality.
5: No information is given on screen as to what kind of compression is done.
The second file type in step 5, Adobe PDF Files, Optimized (*.pdf), gives the option for "Standard" optimization, which compresses images to JPEG and downsizes them to 150dpi. Is this the setting for the first file type as well?

An ordinary save or save as does no additional compression.

  • What is recommended compression format for Blu Ray??

What is the best format to use for making Blu Ray DVD. I watched the tutorial on YouTube for Compressor 3.5 and they are using BluRay setting M2V
The default is H264. So which one?
    1. H264
    2. Mpeg2
    3. Mpeg 4
I have Toast Titanium, which uses MPEG4
    Thanks,

Tom, if you think that Mpeg-2 is not a good one, so why there are tutorials showing to use Mpeg-2 for Encore?

Most of the current Apple Intel based computers are comparable in CPU speed. I don't think it is so much the model of laptop as it is the memory, and storage capacity of the machine. If you are going to use FCP on a regular basis, perhaps as a professional or semi-professional, then you should think about the maximum memory and a very large capacity internal disk drive. For instance, one hour of finished compressed video will take up about 1.5 to 2Gbytes of disk space. If you add up the raw footage and still imagery and audio, you'll use up your disk drive capacity real quick. So a hard disk on the order of 750Gbytes @ 7200rpms might be good for video editing. 5400RPMs might be slow to rendering times. Rendering a video might take up a lot of memory so more memory is better e.g. 8Gbytes.
As a rule of thumb, once you get to about 80% of your disk drive or memory you'll see degradation of performance.
You can check out macsales.com. THey have a menu system that will allow you to pick and choose from various alternatives. BTW, it's been said that although Macs are typically spec'd at a certain memory size, macsales.com found that Apple computers will actually support higher memory levels. That is, if 4Gbytes are spec'd, some machines support 6Gbytes. macsales.com will provide the guidance for you.
You might also consider buying an external disk e.g. 500Gbytes to carry around with you for back-up or transport to another machine.

  • What is the maximum number of Call Types, Skill Groups and Campaigns created in ICM 8.0.1 and 8.0.3

    Hi All,
What is the maximum number of Call Types, Skill Groups and Campaigns created in ICM 8.0.1 and 8.0.3?
In which the above requested information will be available??

Oh I see. So I guess what you are saying is that is
Director's way of compressing vector numbers. Also, as to what you
were saying about the number 3000 is sure not the limit for vector
units, I think I was just jumping the gun considering that I only
glanced at the script error, and then clicked on the debug button
to see where the error happened. Then once I looked at the varibles
in the varible window, I saw these weird numbers with the e3 at the
end of them, and I just thought that it could not add the vectors
together with the e3 at the end of each vector unit. However, to
make a long story short, I detached the script and reattached it
which did no create the error again, and I learned that Director
can add vector units together that have an e3 at the end of each
vector unit. So thanks for clarifying what the e3 means.

    Ken Selvidge ([email protected])

I am not a computer savy person.  I just need to plug in and have the machine do what it should do.
Not a problem, but that indicates you have a lot to learn.
File extensions like mpeg, mp4., avi, wmv, etc. are just wrappers. It is like a box the audio or video content is placed inside. The audio and video content must be encoded with a codec before it is placed in the box. There are thousands of codecs. Not all are installed on your Mac. You must have the same codec installed that encoded the video in order to play it. So, while Quicktime does support mpeg wrapper, it may not have the codecs to decode the internal video.
Some programs have lots of the codecs available to them, like VLC, Niceplayer, MPlayerX, etc.
You can also get "plug-ins" for Quicktime that add codecs to Quicktime, like Perian. Although it is no longer being developed, Perian still works well.
Why is it so difficult? Probably because they are always working on ways to compress the video to get better playback.

  • What Is The Difference Between Save As Self-Contained Movie and Exporting

What Is The Difference Between Save As Self-Contained Movie and Exporting a Video as a Quicktime File

Save As places the file inside a .mov container. No re-encoding.
Your still have the option to save this file as "self-contained" (all the parts travel with the file) or "reference" (small file sized movie that merely "points" to the movie parts).
A reference movie can't play if the source files can't be found. If they are moved or deleted the reference movie will fail and it can't be re-created.
Exporting is done to convert one QuickTime format to another. Typically you do this with a high quality source file. Exporting previously compressed files is a bad idea that leads to unpredictable results.
QuickTime doesn't open WMP formats without third party software help (Flip4Mac is one). You can't convert (export) WMP formats without paying extra fees to upgrade their software.

For I-phone and I-pad, what is the best way to open emails and attachments without using wifi?  I turned off wifi in my settings but my boss thinks there may be another way and a better way to use something else instead of wifi.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you!

Thanks!  That is a very good question you post.  My boss asked me that and I am assuming that he is having issues with using wifi wherever he is at.  My boss is the kind of person that when he asks something you look into it and ask him no questions...he's the only one asking questions!  But thank you for your response I will tell him the information you told me and hopefully that will help!
