What is Warning: SUID file, etc. will not be repaired and what is ACL found

please look at my Disk Utility log here and tell me what the SUID warning is about. Should I be concerned and do I need to fix this some way?
Also, the ACL has recently shown up and I don't know what that is.
And, the user/share/derby I don't know where that came from.
Do I have a virus or something?
I have another problem that I will address in a different thread.
Thanks in advance for your help!

all you need to know is that you can ignore the warning
My other problem is with iPhoto. Can I ask about it here or should I start a new thread?

  • What does - Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.  mean?

I spent the month of November on the phone with Apple support.on a crashing and permissions going wild situation.  I ended up getting a new HD for my iMac through and Apple Authorized service center.  All has been well until today when I woke the iMac up from sleep to have it crash - a white screen of death.  I rebooted and ran disk utilities from the HD partition and from the command R partition to have it say this -
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
What does this mean and what are some possible remedies?
    Thanks,
    Ted Fajen

Don't worry about it, it's a normal system message that can be safely ignored.

No permissions repair trouble the whole time I had my new MacBook Pro.  Now, I get this message (after a ton of necesary repairs:
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
What does this mean, and what can i do?

I see the same thing but it does not appear to be a problem. Some discussion in:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/15688567#15688567
I'm actually seeing a lot fewer permission repairs than I used to see (and they didn't seem to cause problems either ). Hope that helps!

System is acting quirky. I have to do a lot of "Forced Quit"s. Ran permissions repair and keep getting this as part of the report (Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired).

My computer seems to have been polluted by some virus os whatever, which the Antivirus software does not seem to find.  It is turning off on it's own, without any apparent intervention, while iddle.
Then I read about this issue with Remote Management. IS there any connection here?

You do not need the Antivirus for your Mac.

  • Some files videora will not convert no matter what

Just as the title says, I've got some files that just won't convert in videora. I've got a few .mpegs, and whole bunch of .movs that just won't convert, or convert properly. The audio is always either fast, or lagging for the mpegs.
For the .movs, they just won't convert at all, meaning, "Transcode completed" = 0 kB
I can't figure out a way to convert these certain videos. Videora so far is my only converting method. Can anybody tell me if I'm doing something wrong? Or suggest another converting application (preferrably free) that I can use.
    Thanks for the time.

I have successfully converted (when my IPod was working) using Videora. I would bet you have the wrong 'Quality Profile Setting". The only one I use (and it works everytime) is:
    MPEG-4/320x240/768kbps Stereo/128kbps
I have converted MP3's, .MOV, MPEG as well as my DVD's in my collection. all with success, until my IPod died for the 4th time. I have instructions, if you want, but I think that is your problem. [email protected]
Good Luck, you are going to need it.

  • Besides the obvious, does anyone have any info. as to what this means:"Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired."

what do you mean by the obvious?, it's a permission issue, ARD must run as systems administrator to boardcast, tunnel IPv6 calls, etc.

During a routine verify permissions using my disc utility, I'm getting a WARNING: SUID file "Systems/Library/CoreService….ent" has been modified and will not be repaired. What does this mean?? I'm not awawre that I did anything to cause this and is it somethingI should try to fix?

    1. It means that the current software is installed.
    2. It's not something you should try to fix.
    3. Verifying and repairing permissions shouldn't be done as routine tasks.

it means that those files have set user id bits which shouldn't be there according to the permissions database. an s-bit makes a command run with the user id of the file for that command rather than the user invoking the command. for example, if you invoke unix restore command from terminal it ought to run as you. however, on your system it would run as root because the file /sbin/restore used to call this command is owned by root and has a user s-bit on it.
as i said this has nothing to do with your sleep issues but you might as well fix it.
