Specifies the statements inside the module are executed in the context of the caller of the module. The user executing the module must have appropriate permissions not only on the module itself, but also on any database objects that are referenced by the module.
CALLER is the default for all modules except queues, and is the same as SQL Server 2005 behavior.
CALLER cannot be specified in a CREATE QUEUE or ALTER QUEUE statement.

If you have important data that is still on the phone and you do not have a backup, and unable to do a backup, then try what I described earlier because the geniuses at the bar WILL NOT recover your data. Seeing that my technique worked for me, I will stand by my earlier response (the one that was removed).

Problems with cached rowsets: execute() not called
I'm using sun studio creator and am trying to use a cached rowset. The code for creating it and accessing it has been created by studio creator.
The CachedRowSetXImpl is created by the session bean _init method (see below) and is accessed via the jsf web page via a value= attribute on a data table.
The problem is is that the first time the cached rowset is accessed, it generates the error 'java.sql.SQLException execute() never called. After this is works properly. I've already posted this iin the JSF forum, but didn't get a response. Any ideas?

A program that uses CALL TRANSACTION USING to process legacy data should execute the following steps:
Prepare a BDCDATA structure for the transaction that you wish to run.
With a CALL TRANSACTION USING statement, call the transaction and prepare the BDCDATA structure. For example:

The MODE Parameter
You can use the MODE parameter to specify whether data transfer processing should be displayed as it happens. You can choose between three modes:
A Display all. All screens and the data that goes in them appear when you run your program.
N No display. All screens are processed invisibly, regardless of whether there are errors or not. Control returns to your program as soon as transaction processing is finished.
E Display errors only. The transaction goes into display mode as soon as an error in one of the screens is detected. You can then correct the error.
The display modes are the same as those that are available for processing batch input sessions.
The UPDATE Parameter
You use the UPDATE parameter to specify how updates produced by a transaction should be processed. You can select between these modes:
A Asynchronous updating. In this mode, the called transaction does not wait for any updates it produces to be completed. It simply passes the updates to the SAP update service. Asynchronous processing therefore usually results in faster execution of your data transfer program.
Asynchronous processing is NOT recommended for processing any larger amount of data. This is because the called transaction receives no completion message from the update module in asynchronous updating. The calling data transfer program, in turn, cannot determine whether a called transaction ended with a successful update of the database or not.
If you use asynchronous updating, then you will need to use the update management facility (Transaction SM12) to check whether updates have been terminated abnormally during session processing. Error analysis and recovery is less convenient than with synchronous updating.
S Synchronous updating. In this mode, the called transaction waits for any updates that it produces to be completed. Execution is slower than with asynchronous updating because called transactions wait for updating to be completed. However, the called transaction is able to return any update error message that occurs to your program. It is much easier for you to analyze and recover from errors.
L Local updating. If you update data locally, the update of the database will not be processed in a separate process, but in the process of the calling program. (See the ABAP keyword documentation on SET UPDATE TASK LOCAL for more information.)
The MESSAGES Parameter
The MESSAGES specification indicates that all system messages issued during a CALL TRANSACTION USING are written into the internal table <MESSTAB> . The internal table must have the structure BDCMSGCOLL .
You can record the messages issued by Transaction TFCA in table MESSTAB with the following coding:

Error Analysis and Restart Capability
Unlike batch input methods using sessions, CALL TRANSACTION USING processing does not provide any special handling for incorrect transactions. There is no restart capability for transactions that contain errors or produce update failures.
You can handle incorrect transactions by using update mode S (synchronous updating) and checking the return code from CALL TRANSACTION USING. If the return code is anything other than 0, then you should do the following:
write out or save the message table
use the BDCDATA table that you generated for the CALL TRANSACTION USING to generate a batch input session for the faulty transaction. You can then analyze the faulty transaction and correct the error using the tools provided in the batch input management facility. -

basicly, I'm strugling with executing a procedure written in PL/SQL from sqlplus.
It's all because I convert a data in procedure by other function.

Well, the thing is that procedure is executable from TOAD without any errors !! But when I try to execute it straight from sqlplus it returns:
ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
ORA-06512: at "F_CONVERT_DATE", line 13
ORA-06512: at "NAME_OF_PROCEDURE", line 17
Tip: When I don't use functions ADD_MONTHS, NEXT_DAY and TO_CHAR in function F_CONVERT_DATE sqlplus can execute it. But only when I use them it returns an error.
Anybody has a clue how to solve it?

Avoid implicit conversions.
For example:
TO_CHAR(TRUNC(NEXT_DAY(ADD_MONTHS(substr(partition_name, -8, length(partition_name)), -3), 'MONDAY')-7), 'YYYYMMDD')ADD_MONTHS expects a DATE as its first argument.
SUBSTR returns a VARCHAR2, so you're calling ADD_MONTHS with a VARCHAR2 where it expects a DATE.
For good or ill, the system tries to avoid raising an error in this case by implicitly converting the VARCHAR2 to a DATE. Exactly how it does that depends on
(a) the tool you are using (SQL*Plus or Toad, for example),
(b) the version (Oracle 10 behaved quite different form Oracle 9),
(c) environmental settings (such as NLS_DATE_FORMAT), which in turn may depend on initialization parameneters, and
(d) who knows what else.
When you have to convert, do so explicitly.
You can convert a VARCHAR2 to a DATE using TO_DATE, like this:

I have created a Pipe lined function with execute immediate, due to below requirement;
1) Columns in where clause is passed dynamically.
2) I want to know the data stored into above dynamic columns.
3) I want to use it in report, so I don't want to insert it into a table.
I have created a TYPE, then through execute immediate i have got the query and result of that query will be stored in TYPE.

You also have an pointless exception handler, which masks any real errors.
I'm not quite sure what the point of your "connect by" is in your query as we don't have your tables or data or know for sure what the expected output is.
However, in terms of handling the 'dynamic' part that you've introduced, then you would be looking at doing something along the following lines, using a static query that requires no poor dynamic code, and no pipelined function...

cachedRowSet.execute() retrieves the rows from the database.
next() lets you interate through the retrieved rows (aka the ResultSet). -

This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
Features:
Asynchronous processing.
Synchronous Processing in database update.
Transfer data for more than one transaction.
Batch input processing log will be generated.
During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
Features:
Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
Transfer data for a single transaction.
Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
No batch input processing log is generated.

Among the two methods call transaction is better compared to session bcoz data transfer is faster in it.

Session Method:
1) Data is not updated in the database table until the session is processed.

1) Immediate updation in the database table.

Take a scenario where we need to post documents in FB01 and the input file has say 2000 records (2000 documents, not line items in FB01 but 2000 records)
In the BDC call transaction method
We call the transaction FB01 2000 times (once for each record posting) and if the processing fails in record no 3 it can be captured and start with reocord 4.
Eg: Loop at itab.
call transaction FB01
capture errors
endloop.
In the session method.
We do not explicity call the transaction 2000 times, but all the records are appeneded into a session and this session is stored. The processinf of the session is done wwhenever the user wants it to be done. Hence the errors cannot be captured in the program itself

Batch Input Session method is asynchronous as told by others here. But the advantage of this is that you have all the error messages and the data for each transaction held persistantly. You don't have to code anything for processing them or writing the logs.
But at the same time, the same feature can be disadvantageous if you need to react to an error or if there are too many errors to manually correct in a session. Since the session are created in the program and its execution is done seperately, you loose the trackability of such transactions.
With a call transaction, what was a disadvantage above will become an advantage. Call transaction immediately gives you messages back and you can react to it in your program. But the disadvantage is that, if you have several hundreds of transactions to run, running them from within the program can be resource crunching affair. It will hamper the system performance and you cannot really distribute the load. Of course, you have some mechanisms with which you can overcome this, but you will have to code for it. Also, storing the messages and storing the errored transaction data etc will have to be handled by you in the program. Whereas, in batch input session, your program's job is to just create the session, after that everything is standard SAP system's responsibility.
Ideally, you should do a call transaction if the resources are not a problem and if it fails, put the errored transaction into a session.
You can decide based on the data volume that your BDC is processing. If data volume is high go for session else call transaction will do.The call transaction updates will be instantaneous where as session needs to be processed explictly after creation.
Session Method
1) Session method supports both small amount of data aswell as large amount of data
2) data processing is asynchronus and data updation is synchronus.
3) it process multiple apllication while perfomaning validations.
4) in session method data will be updated in data base only after processing session only.
5) system provide by default logfile for handling error records.
6) it supports both foreground aswell as background process

Call Transaction

BDC:
Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
Features :
BDC is an automatic procedure.
This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
Types of BDC :
CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
CALL TRANSACTION
BATCH INPUT METHOD:
This method is also called as ‘CLASSICAL METHOD’.
Features:
Asynchronous processing.
Synchronous Processing in database update.
Transfer data for more than one transaction.
Batch input processing log will be generated.
During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
Features:
Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
Transfer data for a single transaction.
Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
No batch input processing log is generated.

What works with plugin 1.3 fails with plugin 1.4
Summary: What works under plugin 1.3 doesn't work under plugin 1.4 !!
Background: Weblogic 5.1 server, Verisign certificate signed applet + server certificate,.... The applet need to communicate with servlets and EJB's on the server.
Problem: everything works ok on a plugin 1.3 client - but with plugin 1.4 I get:

where it supposedly says that you need to import certificate into the browser before accessing the signed site (this is new, not necessary with plugin 1.3). Tried it quickly - no luck yet.
This is a serious problem to us at a company here in Denmark, running a major EJB solution handling all the country's import. So I (and probably also [email protected] would appreciate an answer.

The SUN jre doesn't care about IE settings, if an applet is signed it will ask the user "do you trust", if
the user chooses yes or always the applet can do pretty much anything.
Because anybody can sign an applet so it will pop up the do
you trust dialog I prevent this dialog from popping up by
adding the following to the
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re****\lib\security\java.policy
under grant { [/b]

permission java.lang.RuntimePermission "usePolicy";

You now need to set up special permissions for sites that
need it, signed applets get no special treatment since you
specified in the java.policy that policy should allways be
used.
When your applet needs to do something it normally could
not do (applet security) [b]and it needs to do this
when a user clicks on a html button (applet method called
from javascript), than all the signing and policy settings
in the world wouldn't work Unless you grant all permission
to all code.
This is because the Java Plug-in executes methods with
applet sandbox security restrictions.

To solve this you can start a new thread that checks ...
times a second if a variable meets certain conditions.

What is your theory on what happened with ASUS Transformer Prime and BB?
This is my theory:
First preorder batch 11/22:
BB opened up for preorders based on expected date of anticipated 12/9 ship date. The buyers at BB that orders from vendors did not buy any preorder stock from ASUS in Champagne on first order. I gotta bleive that the reason that the Champagne prime is not shipping from BB is a "buyer" error. They filled their first allotment of preorders. That is why BB shiped out grey from the first wave of preorders. Other vendors got both- why did BB only get grey? The buyers always think they know what we want or will order and only ordered grey in the request to ASUS. They got caught with their pants down when Amazon cancelled the orders on 12/2 and EVERYONE affected jumped on BB.com and ordered the champagne which was available as the next wave.
Amazon fallout 12/2:
Best buy opened up another set of preorder allotment - 2nd wave, and got hit hard real fast with preorders that they were not prepared for, or had stock for.
ASUS is filling initial preorder requests from the resellers in the order that the resellers requested too. BB was offering that in the next wave of preorders, but they probably took too many orders at once, and they put in another order to ASUS around the 12/9 delay ship date and ASUS was not taking them at that time (delays due to Wifi reported) .
ASUS 12/9 wifi report delay in shiping:
ASUS was cought in a delay with reports of wifi range problems and either stopped taking orders, or recallled/replaced shipment with others. Once ASUS took orders again from the reseller they are shipping daily based on the preorder backlog. Asus is responsible for the delay in accepting orders from vendors, and BB had a buyer error, by either waiting too long to put in the first wave of orders, or not ordering enough, and now they are in the back of the vendor reseller line waiting on ASUS to get to them.
12/19:
The date of irst ship came and BB shipped all it ordered from first wave and could not get anymore from ASUS in the second wave to cover the Amazon fallout system overload. They were left in the back of the line of all other vendors becuse no reseller could get a second next wave fulfillment until all others got their first waves fulfilled. The 12/9 delay kept next waves from being fulfilled, and that is why inventory is trickling into the other resellers and BB can only get a few more at a time. BB ordered champagne on a next wave delay.
The thing that bugs me in to no end is how is a person that ordered grey on 11/28 at BB still on backorder, but a 12/05 grey order has shipped and delivered?? This is not ASUS fault, That is poor business operations on BB.
That is my "perfect storm" theory- what do you think? What is your theory?That is pretty close to what I think happened.
It does seem pretty clear that Best Buy never initially ordered and Champagne Primes. I have combed through the threads at this site and others and haven’t seen one person receive a Champagne Prime from BB. Meanwhile people who bought from other resellers like New Egg and Amazon have received Champagne Primes.
The mismanagement of shipping out orders chronologically has to be maddening for the people who ordered the Grey Primes. I do feel for these people that ordered the same exact product before others who now have their Prime, but will still don’t have their items.
The communication from Best Buy had been terrible. Screwing up the orders in the 2 examples are somewhat forgivable to me, but the miscommunication and what seems to be deceitfulness that Best Buy has exhibited is not. They just seem not to care about the customer any more. From my experience, prior to the release I was lead to believe my order would be ready to ship on 12/18. Then it went on backorder with no real reason why. Two (12/18 and 12/22) of three calls to customer service reps indicated that my Champagne Prime would still arrive by today (12/23), with the other call rep (12/20) saying she basically had no when my item would be in. Then yesterday afternoon a post from a customer care rep on these boards confirming that I am basically hosed because I choose BB to fulfill my Prime preorder. -
What is the use of CALL FUNCTION MODULE - AT BACKGROUND TASK?

I found Call functional module in background task will make the FM run at the next commit work as some people said. So I have some questions:
1 if we use COMMIT WORK commend, the pending FM will be called? If there are several FMs called at background task, what is the sequence of them? How many conditions will trigger the running of these FMs?
2 Where can I find the log of this pending FMs? In SAP library, it says there are 2 tables. But I checked these tables and can only find the FM name and user of it. And I can not understand content of these tables. It seems one is for the main information of FM, and the other is for the data of the FM, maybe the parameters.
3 If I call a FM in this way, Can I canncel it before the next commit work in some way?

BTW, you did the same thing with "value2.addFocusListener(this)" and "sum.setEditable(true)" on the next two lines. You're attempting to call a method on an object that doesn't exist yet (i.e., you haven't called new yet). -
hi, i have tryed to install os x leopard, (its a old imac) , disk utility is greyed out , my install dvd cant find any hdd to install on , my only way to format and configure is through terminal but dont know what commands to execute...
i tryed diffrent commands such as diskutil eraseDisk JHFS+ Disk1
diskutil list , wont show up my harddrive , i now its functionally cause it shows up in disk utility with name and i can get info about it , but everything is greyed out can only switch between "erase , partition , recover , Raid ,....
when i click the apple in the top left corner the whole menu is greyed out... what to do ? help me please

p.s i have no experience in apple imac's at all never used before, but im kinda windows nerd so computers i understand but this imac make my insane, cant seem to find any solutions anywhere on the WWW....Your HD may be crashed, so you probably should use the oringinal install discs to run Apple Hardware Test in extended mode. If error codes appear this confirms a hardware failure. In addition you cannnot repair the HD using Disk Utility from the startup disk, you have to use the origninal Install discs that shipped with the computer or the most up-to-date version of OS X on a disc that you have.
