i.e.,SAP Business Workflow can be used to define business processes that are not yet mapped in the R/3 System. These may be simple release or approval procedures, or more complex business processes such as creating a material master and the associated coordination of the departments involved. SAP Business Workflow is particularly suitable for situations in which work processes have to be run through repeatedly, or situations in which the business process requires the involvement of a large number of agents in a specific sequence.
You can also use SAP Business Workflow to respond to errors and exceptions in other, existing business processes. You can start a workflow when predefined events occur, for example an event can be triggered if particular errors are found during an automatic check.
SAP provides several workflows that map predefined business processes. These workflows do not require much implementation. For an overview of these SAP workflows, refer to Workflow Scenarios in Applications.
Integration
SAP Business Workflow uses the existing transactions and functions of the R/3 System and does not change the functions. You can combine the existing functions of the R/3 System to form new business processes with SAP Business Workflow. The workflow system takes over control of the business processes. If you are already using SAP Organizational Management, you can use the organizational structure created there to have the relevant agents carry out the individual activities. It is possible to have an activity carried out by a position. This ensures that the respective occupiers of the position can carry out the individual activities during execution of the workflow. This means that personnel changes in your organization are taken into account immediately in the execution of a workflow.
Features
SAP Business Workflow provides a number of tools for defining and analyzing workflows as well as for monitoring operation.
The Workflow Builder is for displaying and making changes to workflows. You can make small extensions directly to the original workflows supplied by SAP, such as carrying out your own agent assignments or changing deadline monitoring.
There are several Workflow Wizards to support you in the definition of workflows, with which you can create specific parts of a workflow. The Workflow Wizard Explorer gives you an overview of the existing Workflow Wizards.
In order to make the functions of the R/3 Systems available to a workflow, you use business objects, which you can define and analyze in the Business Object Builder. Best example is Leave Application.
Step1: Employee submits a leave request.
Step2: Manager receives the request and accepts or rejects employee's request.
Step3: Notify employee whether leave request is accepted or rejected.

Workflow is a way of automating business processes, like publishing in ATG CA is based on workflow. Using workflow makes it very easy to adjust to business process changes without the need of any coding. Refer Personalization Programming Guide and Personalization Guide for Business Users for details.
Scenarios and Workflow in ATG are based on the same framework often called as ATG process engine

now that i have my web export solution taken care of, im curious about printing.
ive used adorama a few times and am happy w/ the results. anyone feel like sharing -- how do you prep your images for use w/ them? what settings have been successful for you in obtaining the best results?

anybody using LR + www.Adorama.com for printing? if show, whats your print workflow like? do you use LR's "Print" section, or just export large jpgs from the "Library"? do you apply output sharpening, and if so what sort?

What triggers workflows execution from IDocs

I have set up a process that triggrs workflows from IDocs by setting the Process code to 'Process by task'.
In some cases, when the workflow falls over, it would be easier to create a new workflow rather than fix the old (the workflow has checks in so that it will not create duplicate documents at any point).
I would like to write a restart report that allows an IDoc to be reprocessed using a new workflow, but I don't see how it is triggered; it is not via an event because the workflow does not have a triggereing event.
Can somebody tell me what the function module is that triggers the workflow, or if it is a report program?

What is workflow minimum? (stupid questions from rookie)

we are evaluating Oracle workflow. If you could help us to answer some of the stupid questions we have - it would help us a lot.
1. There are two parts of Workflow installation - DB and midtier. Is it possible to use workflow without installing midtier? Our understanding - midtier is used for providing web access for the users to the workflow engine: they can approve/reject, check workflow status etc. But is it possible to perform all these tasks via email only or by building some simple user interface in our existing webtier (which is not based on Oracle webserver, though is using Oracle for the DB layer)
2. We were not able to configure other schema to have access to workflow successfully - though it looks like this schema has all possible privs set. If we are trying to call wf_engine.LaunchProcess - we are getting privs error. If we call it from the workflow schema - everything is working fine. Does anybody have any successful experience in doing this?

I do not consider myself an expert at Workflow, but I will attempt to answer your questions (which are not stupid questions by any means)...
I will answer question 1 in two parts as it is essentially two questions.
1. "Is it possible to use workflow without installing midtier"
Workflow is a module inside the Database that is an optional installation.
No middle-tier needs to be installed as such.
The middle-tier I believe you are referring to is the Workflow Monitor, this is viewed by configuring either the:
- Database HTTP server DAD to display the Workflow Monitor
or
- Application Server HTTP Server DAD to display the Workflow Monitor
Configuring the Workflow Monitor for the Administrators is a very good idea.
Normal users do not normally need to view this page, but read-only acess can be setup (ie. the users connect as a user without the ADMIN role)

Using Workflow Notifications, emails can be sent to users where they can approve/reject.
2. We were not able to configure other schema to have access to workflow successfully
I am not sure why you are not successful here... have you granted execute on wf_engine.LaunchProcess to the other schema?

I was wondering how one creates those menus that:
* has a bigger image of the current selection
* either has numbers or thumbnails of other menu items
* automaticly moves to the next selection and thumbnail
* loops to first menu item
You see them almost everywhere. I looked for some examples as I was composing this post and couldn't find many. I found two. They are everywhere until you try to find them.

What is the workflow for creating a children's ebook with animated illustration?

I would like to animate and create a children's book with animated illustrations for the iPad but I am confused as to what the workflow is. I am proficient in Flash, Edge, Photoshop and getting to grips with indesign and DPS. but I cannot find the answer as to how to create an interactive children's book anywhere, Would I be able to create it with DPS? How can I make the accelerometer? e.g. getting things falling when you turn the iPad? Ultimately what I would like is to animate in Edge or Flash and then create a page turner/table of contents (illustrated) etc. Can someone please help?

What is the best way to scale Red footage in FCX?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently editing a feature film in Final Cut X Pro (10.0.9). I've edited on FCX in the past, but this is my first feature project with it. The feature was shot on two cameras. Camera A was a Red Epic (5K). Camera B was a Red Scarlet (4K). An assistant editor was in charge of getting the project set up. I'm the co-director, so I didn't come on board the edit until a few weeks after he had everything imported, in sync, and properly structured in keyword folders per scene number. The guy did a great job and organized the **** out of everything. He then cut a few assemblies for us.
Now I'm working on it on my own and it's been going great, but I have two questions which have dogged me:
1. There's been a handful of shots I've wanted to enlarge / scale / zoom-in on. A good example is a medium shot, which I prefer to now be a CU of the actor's face. The way I've been doing this up until now, is by selecting the clip in the timeline, going to the Video inspector window in the top right, and changing the Scale percentage. I usually find though that, if I go beyond 150%, I lose a lot of quality. Now, at first I thought this was just because I was using Proxy Media (only for Playback) in my edit. So I did a test and opened the same clip in a separate project reel. I then scaled the clip again to 175% but de-selected 'Use Proxy media for Playback.' So in essence, I did an 'online' to see the raw media in my timeline. And after doing this, the scaled clip's quality definitely improved. But not enough to give me the confidence to do this often throughout the film.
So my question is, is there a better / smarter way to do this? I've been reading PDFs lately about tbe best practices for a Red workflow with FCX. And I see that they recommend making tweaks to files using the 'RED Raw Settings Control.' I confess, I've never dabbled with this. To me, any sort of RED tweaking will happen during the mastering phase. Not during the basic edit. But would this option be better for scaling clips? Or is scaling clips something I should hold off on for now and do in the more final stages of mastering.
2. This second question sort of ties into my basic Project Property settings. So first, a recap of the workflow we used to get the project into FCX:
- Imported all RED Raw footage from both cameras.
- Synced up audio and multi-cam clips.
- Playback settings are 'Use proxy media.' (no Optimized media was created and as far as I know now, Optimized / Proxy media wasn't creating during Import, nor were Import folders / keyword collections created at that point.)
Now, when I look at my Project Properties, it says my 'Video Properties' are in 5K. And my Render Format is Apple ProRes 422 (Proxy). So the way I read that, any straight up Export I do of the default video file is going to be 5K. That includes any sort of Apple ProRes export.
So is this correct? Even though I'm viewing my reel as a Proxy for Playback, is it okay that my Project Properites video size is still 5K? Or should've that been changed to 1080p before I did any editing on this project? Is the 5K project setting slowing me down? Or adding on more time to my Vimeo Shares and straight Exports?
I know I'm asking a lot of questions here, so perhaps it will be easier if someone can explain what their workflow is with 5K footage in 5K. We're doing a small screening of the rough cut tonight for friends and I wanted to export an Apple ProRes 422, but it's like 300GB big! So it seems the only option I have is to use the Apple Devices preset and export an H.264.

What Luis said: set the project to 4k or smaller .... whatever is good enough for the output you require. Editing in 5k already requires you to upscale the 4k footage.
The RED Raw settings have nothing to do with the scaling. They are meant to dial in white balance, color, saturation and other parameters.

Wether the 5k project is slowing you down depends on the specs of your hardware. Do you intend the output to be 1080? Then your scaling problems are over.

Automator workflow no longer works on 10.7

Hi. I've been using an Automator workflow for years: it opens iTunes, looks for a specific radio station, sets iTunes volume, sets Computer volume, starts iTunes playing and runs a small Applescript script to close the folder if it was open.
This has been running for years. Upgraded to 10.7 and it stopped working. It seems to launch, but nothing happens.
I recreated the same workflow, and I can run it: it states that every step is "Completed". But it really doesn't work!!!
What should I try next? (Windows 8???)

Here's what the workflow looks like; you'll note the "all green" log at the bottom!
By the way, when I run it, iTunes does launch; but it doesn't play anything. And there IS a WCPE entry; it's a radio station that is in the list of radio stations/Classical and that entry has also been copied to one of my playlists.
The workflow was created as an application and it's run when I power up the Mac.

Issue in Workflow - Records not created at times

Hi All,
We are using oracle workflow. I am facing an issue in live at times. Here in my case a procedure is called from a workflow function which in turn inserts records in a table automatically.
Some times even though all conditions met to insert records, there is no insertion in the particular table. Also no error is logged. The stage is also successfully passed without any error.
Please help me out to solve the issue.

You can start by running wfstat.sql passing it the item_type and item_key for your workflow process and see what the workflow has done - you can check that the execution path actually went through the activity using that PLSQL code of yours.
Also, if any errors occurred, a notification must have been sent and you can see the number of such notification in the output from wfstat.sql as well.
