I certainly agree. You can comment to Apple on the matter via their feedback page, if you wish:

Perhaps if enough of us request it, they'll put that feature back.

  • Cannot get Itunes to open in windows 7 64 bit

I have installed after a complete reformating of my hard disk, installed and reinstalled itunes several times after a complete unistall of all related programs and tried just about everything that is recommended. What can I do to get itunes to open on my computer

Are you getting any error messages?  Perhaps this post would be more suited for the iTunes forums since it's an issue with the iTunes application itself and not your iPod.

    Hello there, Tricia.
You may have to find the download folder for the browser you are using and launch the installer from there. Another option you may want to try is using another browser to download and install iTunes. The following Knowledge Base article offers up some steps for how to download iTunes using Windows Internet Explorer:

  • TS2529 I cannot get iTunes to open?

On the iTunes menu bar, click the Window tab. Is itunes selected?

  • I cannot get itunes 10 to download onto my laptop tonight.

Hi guys and Girls. I got a new iPhone 4S today and need to sync it with my Dell laptop. iTunes tells me it needs to update to version 10 and although I have tried many times tonight I can't get it to download either from the update button in iTunes or direct from Apple.com.
I know there are thousands of people trying to update their new phones too so is it something I am doing wrong or is it just that the servers are overloaded?

With that one, I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

  • Cannot get Itunes to open - tried everything

Everytime I click on Itunes 7.5 to open nothing happen. When I open up the task manager it's right there, I close it, re-open it and again nothing. I got tired with all the un-installing and re-installing so I just reformated my computer. I installed only the drivers for my MB and video, went to the apple site and downloaded a fresh copy of Itunes 7.5, installed it and when I tried to run it - the same exact thing - will not open.
What the **** is going on? I can't access my Ipod for a week now! Is apple trying to fix this - I know the problem can't be on my side becuase I installed it on a reformated computer with the same problem.

Let's try to get an idea of what might be going on with some preliminary questions from b noir's "smack" for iTunes launch failures:
Is there an error message associated with the launch failure?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
If there's not an error message, let's check your QuickTime (its well-being is a requirement for a functioning iTunes).
Go to the XP Start menu > All Programs and try running QuickTime.
    Does it start?
If not, then the same question as for iTunes - is there an error message?
If so, what does it say and what (if any) error numbers are there?
Do you notice any other peculiar behavior with QuickTime?
    <hr />
You've more or less answered this next question but for the sake of clarity ...
If there are no error messages and there is no problem with QuickTime then reboot your computer and open the Windows Task Manager.
Go to the Processes tab of the Task Manager and then try starting iTunes one more time.
Does iTunes.exe appear in the list of processes now?
If iTunes.exe appears, does it remain in the Processes list or discontinue after a brief period of time?

    User-specific troubleshooting
    Remove iTunes Preference files
Some of the files that iTunes uses to store settings and preferences may be unusable and cause issues. iTunes has two folders where preferences are saved. Move one of them to the desktop and test to see if the issue persists. If it does, move it back and remove the second folder. The location for the two preference folders are:
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes
    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes

  • Cannot get itunes to open

After Itunes is installed on my pc, it will not open. I have follwed every thing I could find so far, uninstalled and deleted all associated files including QT and deleted all local temp files, turned off virus protection and pop up blockers while re-installing, but the program still will not start. Any other suggestions? Please help!

Can you check something for me please?
Restart your PC. after the PC restarts, bring up your Task manager, and go to the "Processes" tab. Click "Image name" to sort the processes alphabetically.
    Now try to launch iTunes.
Does an itunes.exe process appear? If so, does it vanish after a second or so, or does it persist in the Processes tab (even though iTunes itself never shows up)?

  • I can't get iTunes to open on my windows 7

I downloaded the new version of iTunes onto my computer yesterday and now it won't even open. Help please.

Refer to following article to remove SC files:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363
Then repair your Quicktime. START / CONTROL PANEL / PROGRAMS N FEATURES / hightlight QUICKTIME and click REPAIR.

  • Cannot get iTunes to recognise audiobook folder

So, I have some audiobooks I want iTunes to load onto my iPhone. No matter what I do I cannot get iTunes to recognise that the folder/files is an audiobook.  The thing is iTunes was good, but now it *****.  They seem to have gone out of their way to make it as difficult to use. Why?  The version 10 s were OK, but 11 is a piece of ****.  Is it because of this rediculous DMR obsession that punishes legit users that in turn means that I have to use not so legit means to achieve what I want?  It's *****, it's crap and if it means that I have to troll through endless help files and google searches to achieve this, then surely this is against the Apple principal that I should be able to use the product without a manual.   I don't buy the "iTunes is free, so don't complain".  It's built into the price of the iPhone/iPad.

  • I cannot get iTunes or QuickTime to install. I receive an "access denied" error even after uninstalling both completely.

I cannot get iTunes to install on my Windows 7 PC. I have uninstalled iTunes and QuickTime completely, and downloaded the newest versions. On installation, I receive an "access denied" error for both. I am on an administrator account, run as administrator, deleted my temp folder, everything. I cannot get either to install.
