When I connect Iphone to computer to download images it says there is an error and it won't download them. What is wrong?

As long as that junk is installed you really can't begin to figure out what's wrong.
You wrote you tried to repair the startup volume using Disk Utility. Did you do that after starting your Mac with OS X Recovery, and did it report any errors? Random freezes associated with disk access such as playing iTunes music would be a symptom of disk failure. Make sure you have adequate backups.

First try resetting your iPad and then try updating again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If it still will not work, try updating using iTunes. But before you do that, disable your firewall and your antivirus software, then try the update again.

See this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083. Make sure that if you have a passcode lock on the phone that you unlock the phone prior to connecting the device. Also, if you do not have Import photo set up in AutoPlay, you may have to go to Computer, then right-click on the phone and select Import photos.

I recently purchased an album on itunes and it keeps saying there is an error downloading?

It keeps saying there was an error when I try and download and to check my network connection. The itunes store works fine and so does my internet, I have restarted my computer and itunes it still won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this or how I can file a complaint to itunes or something?

Is there a way to "download" photos from a local folder?

I have some photos in a local folder that I rescued from a dead laptop. When I download photos directly from my memory cards I always create subfolders by shot date, which is hugely useful for keeping them organized. Is there any way to use the Photo Downloader to import photos from a local folder, so that I don't have to create all those folders manually?
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I should add that I have tried creating an .iso file from the folder and mounting it as a drive, but it isn't recognized as an external device by Bridge.

CS5 - unable to download update for PS (12.0.4) or RAW (6.7) - it just says "There was an error downloading this update. Quit and try again later." I've been trying again for a month.

I have no idea what to do.
I stick with CS5 because it does what I need and does not lock me into a financial arrangement over which I have do not have control.
My software is registered. I have used and updated it without problems since I bought it direct from Adobe
Any idea what I might do?

If you're trying to update through the Help menu > Updates, you should know that the Adobe auto updater in CS5 and earlier versions is an unmitigated, monumental piece of cr@p. It Is totally unreliably and fails in one or another of a great variety of ways.
Adobe began to get their act together as of CS6, with which I'm staying for exactly the same reason you are staying with CS5.
One has to update manually, by looking for, downloading and applying any and all applicable updates, including the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in which comes separately.
If the latter is what you've been doing, you need to let us know where you are trying to download the update from, what browser you are using to attempt to effect the download, and what platform you are in.
You also need to disable any and all virus protection, and make sure you are not behind any active software or hardware Fire Wall.

My app says there was an error downloading and the app isn't appearing in my launchpad

I downloaded two app games; civilization V and Lego Star Wars complete saga while at the airport. I paused them to get on the flight, but it's been two days and I just got hooked up to wifi again. I tried to press install, but it says 'an error has occured' and every time I try to hit install it says 'use purchases page to try again' but I'm on the purchases page. Also, the icons are gone from my launchpad, but the games are not in my trash.

if neither iPhoto nor Image Capture can import from your iPhone, the problem may be with the iPhone. Is the iPhone properly charged? Are you using the original cable?

Try to transfer one of the photos by Wi-Fi - put it into a Dropbox or use the Photo Stream. Then you can try, if iPhoto can open the transfered photo, and you can check, if the photos are problematic -wrong color profile or something.

My computer shut down as I was downloading photos from my Iphone. My Iphoto now says "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable" I see the photos still in my computer but how do I get them back in Iphoto?

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

I am trying to update CS5 through the CS5 application. I hit "updates" in the help menu. It goes through its series of updates and then says " There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."

Please do a forum search. I and others have repeatedly answered this question a whole bunch of times recently.
Bottom line: the Adobe auto updater is utterly useless in CS5 and prior versions. You need to download the updates and apply them manually yourself.
I and others have even supplied the links for Mac and Win, which you haven't even bothered to specify.
