it's more like what's wrong with your os. cs4 obviously was not and could not be designed to work with your os.

What is wrong with CS4 and post script printers?

I just upgraded my cs2 to a cs4. It's great except it won't function with my print driver. I use LD Lanier 160c, an okay printer for non-professional grade. Every time I try to go to my printer options, I get a warning that says: "If the desired print setting is available in InDesign's Print Dialog Box, please set it there to avoid conflicts". Well, there is no duplex options or a lot of other options available in my dialog box. Does anyone know what to do so I can actually use my printer. The crazy thing is that it still allows me to go to my print options and select what I want, but it will not record anything I do in the printer options. Someone please help.

You should probably get ahold of Lanier to see if there is a conflict resolution somewhere in the workflow. I have an HP Designjet 10ps printer that shipped with a standard "Office" type driver and an additional RIP software application which is Postscript 3 compatable. I often find it interesting that the printer itself is not recognized as a Postscript output device and the RIP only interprets the Postscript data and converts it to printer language. It sounds like you had success with CS2, whether you used a RIP or not. But, typically, Postscript data streams usually require a RIP to process the data. So, Lanier may have an updated driver and/or a RIP solution for CS4.
It's getting to be a real dance with recent OS software releases vs. recent CS updates vs. hardware vendor application updates and/or the lack of. As I understand it, Apple offers updated printer manufacturer drivers. However, having looked over the list at the apple.com/support site, they only update new or fairly new printers. In my case, the closest update driver would be an HP Designjet 30 or 130. This gets to be a real situation because printer software will only work in certain OS versions and neither HP or Apple support my HP Designjet 10ps. You are simply expected to trade-up and pay-up.

Prior to upgrading to Mavericks, you must make sure you meet ALL of its system requirements.

I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse. I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze. When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally. Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine. But there are blue stripes on my screen. The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes. I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer. If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed. I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it the firmware or what? I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

What is wrong with my 2 month old Mac book pro retina?

I bought a new 13 inch Mac book pro Retina at the end of May 2013. I have been to the apple store and called apple care several times. Now things are very bad. It would crash and give me a white screen every so often but over the last week things have gotten very bad. It will crash with the white screen, browsers and applications all close unexpectedly - it started with firefox then safari, then mail then face book, then adobe and finally iphoto and picassa. I did send in the reports. Also if I had a picture in i-photo my picassa program is set up to grab all pictures - recently any pictures that have been grabbed it says the files are corrupted. I keep having trouble with the air port utility in that it can't find the wireless network and or the time capsuel even though it can be wireless or plugged in by ethernet. I called apple care and got this very nice tech guy and he tried many different fixes and said he thought the hard drive would need to be replaced so got an appointment to take my computer in. They ran two tests and said everything is fine with the computer it must be the software. So now I'm supposed to get apple care to help me try and save all my data on flash drives! Can't back it up on time capsuel cause he said it would just back up the problem. So this seems overwhelming and I'm so upset. Well, then I thought about it and my old mac book in which all the data and software was transferred from hasn't been erased as I was having so many issues I hadn't done that yet. So my question is if it was the software, wouldn't it be making my older mac book do the same thing? What is wrong with my New Computer? As of tonight, I can't even open anything it gives a quick flash of trying to open and closes so the computer is totally useless - so no idea how to get the data off that is most recent. Apple says they cannot help cause it is a software program but now I have a 2 month old computer whish is useless. Any thoughts?

You have 3 months of care and up to 3 years with paid AppleCare, let them handle it and bring everything in.

In the beginning of this year I used Nokia Messaging on E71 and I really loved it!
Since this autumn I am using it on my new N97 and I am confronted with totally different experience:
- the application is very slooooow..
- its unreliable - very ofter emails arrive with hours delay, a sync may take up to minutes
- its very very buggy - truncated icons, diplay randomly jumping up and down, when scrolling.
- very bad HTML display of emails - tiny (unreadable) default font and no wrap to screen when zooming - I thought emails were for reading?
- many, many usability issues
I just cannot believe it - How has Nokia managed to convert once such a good piece of software into such incredible disaster?
Recently an update was published - I tried it immediately... To my big disappointment it contains all the same bugs and introduces new ones..
How is this possible? What is happening at Nokia?

And in global setting Nokia deleted the option to read always in HTML.
And there is not any option to write html Mails

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon. I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone. The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads. iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does. I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery. This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help. A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. Repairing it was out of the question. At this point the phone is completely useless. Thanks in advance for the help.

What's wrong with my flash tags?

I'm writing my own software to generate SWF files (very simple ones that just display a single image). The order the SWF entries are written in are:
SWF Header (the main file header)
Tags:
     FileAttributes (required for version 8 or higher)
     DefineBitsJPEG2 (contains JPEG format image)
     PlaceObject2 (places it into Display List)
     ShowFrame (displays to the screen everything in the DisplayList)
     End (tag that ends the SWF file)
When I load the resulting SWF file into a web browser (or the standalone Flash viewer) what I find is that it just has a white screen. The image isn't being displayed. Is there something wrong with the order of the tags in my SWF file? I can't find any debugger software that will analyze the tags in the SWF file and tell me what's wrong with them.
Can anybody here help me with this?

Most likely, you have a bad extension. They are in a folder called extensions What you need to do is create a new folder and move extensions to this folder. Move extensions to the folder in groups. try 1/2 first. Move back & forth between folders. See which extension is causing the problem. command + n to create a new folder
verify that you have the correct firmware.
Figuring out what level of firmware you have?
1) Mac OS 9.x or 8.x, you need to use the Apple System Profiler.
Apple -> Apple System Profiler
2) Mac OS X, use the System Profiler.

click on the More Info... tab
click on Hardware
read the Boot ROM Version
3) Open Firmware, boot into Open Firmware.

Every time I try to watch a video, play a game on Facebook, load my iTunes, or load a radio station on my HP laptop it freezes the program I am in and I have to close out of it. I have tried shutting it down, restarting it, and instaling updates and I don't have any viruses. What's wrong with my laptop?

how old is ur laptop? did u went cheap and bought those 299-399's 4 year old technology laptop?
what is the make and model? if u spend too little on a laptop, more likely you are getting a laptop with the bare esssential jsut to run the OS. any additional software may freeze the computer.
if u'd like that, you can bring it in to geeek squad to do an Optimization and they can help you clean up your computer, clear out the junk stuff that's running in the background, this wil help boost the performance of ur laptop.

What's wrong with 7.6 firmware?

My Time Capsule was unreachable from my computers after installing the new firmware 7.6 a few weeks ago.
I downgraded today back to 7.5.2 and everything is fine again.
What's wrong with this firmware and why hasn't Apple realized that it's causing problems for people?!

Now it's up to the 1 billion Windows users to update.
A number of folks will be doing that without explicitly intending to from now on.
I doublechecked, and was able to confirm that QT 7.6.5 is now in the iTunes for Windows 9.0.2.25 installer bundle (along with the new Apple Application Support version 1.1.0).
(I uninstalled my existing iTunes 9.0.2.25, and launched Apple Software Update. I did a "Tools > Open Downloaded Updates Folder", and cleared all existing items from the folder (to avoid any possible confusion later on). Back in ASU, I selected iTunes, did a "Tools > Download only". The AppleApplicationSupport.msi that showed up in the Downloaded Updates folder was a version 1.1.0, and the QuickTime.msi was a version 7.6.5.)
So, the updating process has begun ... since a whole bunch of folks would have already updated to iTunes 9.0.2.25 (using versions of installers containing the old QT 7.6.4 and ASU 1.0.1), it'll be a bit of a trickle (comparatively speaking) at first. But next time there's an iTunes version update, a whole bunch of folks will get past the potential for having the particular problems we've been tracking.

There are many posts on the issue of JPG's being converted into PNG's and a variety of replies with sympathetic suggestions for how to avoid this plague.
Many months back I also used to see recommendations of making an iWeb graphic into a very reduced opacity item that can be used as a hyper-link.
But I've yet to see any of the responders directly address the dreaded png's of transparent hyperlinks.
Why not.?

Nope… it'll more than likely be a problematic G5 software installation. My Mac mini runs a 24" display and can play 720p video just fine with it's extremely crappy Intel GMA950 integrated graphics. It does however frame drop a little with 1080i high motion video. Both Bluetooth and USB mice just work fine. The Mac Pro will have no problems doing any of this.
