Go to Settings > Messages and turn iMessage OFF.
Then go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings. Your phone will restart. You will not lose any data, but you will have to re-enter any Wi-Fi network passwords.
Once the phone has re-started and you have a network connection (either 3G or Wi-Fi), turn iMessage back ON.

  • Why does my phones iMessage keep saying "waiting for activation"

Why does my iPhone's iMessage keep saying "waiting for activation" when I turn on my iMessage

It's waiting for you to reply to a confirmation email that was sent when you added that email address to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive.
The email is sent immediately. If you have reason to believe it was not sent, tap the blue circled i then either resend the validation email, or remove it.

    (3) In the left-hand pane of Regedit, click the triangle next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand its contents.
    (4) Expand the contents of SOFTWARE
    (5) Expand the contents of Microsoft
    (6) Expand the contents of Windows
    (7) Expand the contents of CurrentVersion
    (8) Expand the contents of Installer
    (9) Expand the contents of UserData
    (10) Expand the contents of S-1-5-18
    (11) Right-click on Components and select "Permissions" as per the following screenshot:
    (12) In the "Permissions for Components" screen that comes up, click the Advanced button:
    (13) In the "Advanced Security Settings for Components" screen that comes up, click the "Owner" tab.
    (14) In the "Owner" tab, check the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects tickbox, select "Administrators" and click Apply:
(14a) If (after clicking Apply) you receive a "Registry Editor could not set owner on the key currently selected, or some of its subkeys" message, click OK:
    (15) Click OK in the "Advanced Security Settings for Components" screen.
    (16) Click OK in the "Permissions for Components" screen.

my imessage keeps saying waiting for activation

iMessage was working with me for 2days and suddenly it gave me the "waiting for activation message" until now I can't resolve this problem. I tried to change the network from 3G to WiFi, but still can't connect.
    Any ideas?

  • TS2755 Did all of this trouble shooting and my Imessaging still says waiting for activation. Don't know how to fix it.

Don't understand why my Imessaging stopped working. If I go to settings messages and check out Imessaging it just says waiting for activation.

Change the DNS servers of the wifi network to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
Go to settings>general>date&time> set automaticly , turn it on if it wasn't
    then settings>general>reset>reset network settings
    restart the phone

  • What is wrong with iMessage?

This is an incredibly disappointing app. Apple took something simple from the iPhone (text messaging) and screwed it up. Type iMessage into this board's search window and you get several threads complaining this app doesn't work.
It should work the way it does on the iPhone. When I see the same icon and label as on my iPhone, it should work the same. On any device I should be able to send a text (MMS or SMS) to any phone. It should have added the ability to send them to iPads. These should have been core capabilities.
Instead, it must be an iOS5 device that has to be registered and there are these silly rules for what address you put in it based on what device you are using. It does a verification that the address is registered that so far has rejected everything I've tried. Something as simple as sending a message from my iPad to my iPhone and it tells me that an email address I pulled from my contacts isn't registered. Both devices have iOS5, the email address was my MobileMe account that both have their mail apps synched to and they were both sitting on a WiFi. I even tried putting them on 3G. No change.
Maybe I can't send a message to myself; I tried sending one to my wife. She also has an iPad and iPhone with iOS5 and an email account synched to both devices. It seems my wife isn't registered either. I haven't figured out how to break the bad news to her. Maybe she'll take consolation in the fact that I too have been declared unregistered by Apple.
Seriously, thought, how did this pass Beta testing? How did one of the best programming companies on the planet not catch the problems in this? Apple needs to take a serious look at what went wrong. Somewhere their vaunted process broke down.
I'm going to cut my losses and put this app in a 'worthless app' folder and find something else.

Thank you for the link. It both explained and confirmed my thoughts about iMessage. I have checked that everything is turned on and we do have everything registered with iCloud (which should have nothing to do with this).
I am glad that it works for you. I still can't get it to work. Why not? Apple prides itself on "just working out of the box" and this app requires me to try and figure out more than I should have to. I could have stuck with Linux for this.
As I stated in my original post, there are some core capabilities Apple should have put into this. It shouldn't matter that it isn't a phone; the idea is to sent data from one device to another. Cell networks, data networks and WiFi should easily handle that.
This app reaches too few people and requires too much trouble to get working. Again, thank you for the link.

  • What's wrong with imessage?

I recently updated one of my idevices (iPhone 4 AT&T) to iOS 7.1. The rest (another iPhone 4 AT&T, iPhone 5 AT&T and an iPad Mini 2 wifi) are on iOS 7.0.6. This morning I wasn't able to send an imessage from any of my devices.  Later on, I was able to send imessages from my iPhone 4 ATT&T on 7.0.6 but none of the imessage client on my other devices synced.  I know this is wrong because imessage used to sync across all of my devices.  Can someone please address/fix this issue????
    Thanks,

  • HT201407 iMessage "unable to activate, please try again".    Whenever I go to activate imessage is says waiting for activation and then about 5 mins later says activation unsuccessful, please try again. This is driving me mad! It's been 2 days now!!

Lease help me to activate imessage. I now have iPhone 5s and can't activate imessage. I've tried all the normal stuff but nothing is working

i had this problem with my iphone 5c and sorted it contacting apple.
have you tried resetting the network settings? it doesnt delete anything and should work. if it then changes to "waiting for activation", instead of the error message, then leave it for 24 hours (leaving your phone and wifi on) and it should activate and work.
for me, this didnt work after 24 hours. i then backed up my phone and reset it and set it up as a new iphone then restored it using my backup from the computer and it now works

On iPhone, SMS messaging is required to activate FaceTime and iMessage for use with your phone number. Depending on your carrier, you may be charged for this SMS.
