What is wrong with my login screen?

Hello. I have a imac running with leopard. Today when i turned it on it went to its login screen then started violently shaking and saying something about typing in the master password. It has never done this and you cannot ype anything. Does anyone know what i could be and how i could fix it? Thanks

The shaking indicates the wrong password has been typed in. Type in the correct password and it will run fine.

For the last year I have been dealing with a screen that keeps going dark. If I tilt my screen down and back up it turns back on but if I open it too far it turns off. Then I will use it for a little while and it will go dark again, repeat. All day long I am wiggling my screen around trying to find the sweet spot so it will stay on. Anyone know whats wrong with it? Where should I take it?

I read some other posts where people were having the same issue, and apparently they took it to an apple store and it was fixed for only $45. That's actually not a bad price if you ask me, and I might end up doing that since my screen is just so bad.

What is wrong with my unlit screen?

I have a 2009 MacBook and recently I have not been able to adjust the brightness all the way. When I try to adjust the brightness more than the second level (square), the screen will turn almost completely black. However, if I hold my laptop close to a light source (ie a lamp), I can barely see screen (ie my desktop) that I was looking at. Also, I start up my MacBook with full brightness, that screen will immediately go to black (and I can barely make out the background). Could my problem be the backlight and what's the best way to address your diagnosis? Thank you.

You may attach an external display, if you have the correct video display adapter for
an available display, to check and see if the graphic card is working correctly; as
that is one way to tell if a problem is limited to the internal one.
The inverter, backlight, and other parts play roles on the ability of the display to function
so there maybe a bad cable, inverter or other parts. The backlight was a cold fluorescent
type prior to the later LED backlight; however the backlight uses a separate circuit for
the light power, than that of the information displayed that you may see by shining a
light into the dysfunctional panel... When you see an image there, it is only part of it.
But that means the panel itself may not be shot.
There are some fairly helpful repair guides online, one source of pictures and info is
the iFixit.com site where they have various guides, plus a pile of Apple Mac guides.
An expert could diagnose it, and prescribe a cure, along with an estimated cost.
You may find, depending on how far you want to go, the estimates can vary some.
A portable computer is good in that you can send it away. If you don't have anyone
nearby to do the work, there are some at distance who only repair Apple portables.
I'd had good results with wegenermedia, but checked beforehand, some years ago.

What's wrong with my iMac screen?

It just happened this morning when I woke up, this iMac is only few months old. And I did nothing last night, just edited some photos and watch The Walking Dead with VLC app as usual. Then I fell asleep and these lines just came up in the morning. What is this, is there anything I can do to fix this without bringing it to apple service? If I have to bring it to apple service, is it covered by the warranty?

If your 90 day free AppleCare telephone support hasn't expired or you have purchase AppleCare then give them a call. If you don't have AppleCare (HIGHLY recommended) then you will need to schlep the machine into an Apple Store to have it looked at by a professional, it is covered by the 1 year warranty. The lines our describing are not visible in your screen shoot so I'll assume they are very fine.
Before you do anything though do some basics such as restarting the machine and resetting the PRAM.

what should I do when my computer have the following problems:
1、LED large display (rectangle) and appeared splash screen phenomenon recently, but the power light is on.
2、When played PPT file, the display is normal,but after a while,the screen splash phenomenon appeared .If I restart the LED power ,the screen will normal again.
3、2 days later, when I turn on the computer and the LED display and then play PPT file,the LED display appeared black, but the LED disply power is still light .I have tryed to restart the LED power and re-plug the transmission line,but have no any effect.

I am experiencing the same thing on log out, not all the time but too often. I can get going again by shutting down with the power button, waiting 10 sec. then pressing the power button to boot up again. I have run Disk Utilities, Techtool Deluxe and Disk Warrior which all indicate everything is OK. So I am hoping someone will be able to help us with this issue.

What is wrong with my Macbook Pro? (distorted screen, beeping, slow)

I have a late 2012 Macbook Pro (13-inch) that I got from Best Buy. It worked perfectly fine for a year, but then went crazy.
First, it started shutting down here and there, and icons bounced a lot in the dock. Then, one day, I googled something and it froze, then flashed a strip of multicolored barcode-like lines. So, I shut it down and it overheated then began to beep 3 times and flash a light.
I brought it in and they just wiped the hard drive. Then, it happened again while I was watching a video only a short time later. I was going to re-seat the RAM myself but the inside of the computer looked all messed up. I took it in and they gave me a new LCD but it has a dead pixel now. It worked fine for 1 month after that.
Then, I was using the laptop on my bed and it shut off randomly a couple of times while I was on Facebook and started beeping. I rebooted it and tried to fix it but it happened again the next day. I brought it back to Best Buy and they said it was hot and sold me a $20 cooling pad.
That worked for a few days, then I was watching TV online and it happened again. I brought it back to Best Buy and they replaced the RAM. Now, I was watching something online and it happened yet again. I was able to reboot and it worked okay now for a couple of hours but it did freeze again and I had to shut it down.
Everytime I go to Best Buy, they tell me "If we have this issue 1 more time, we will replace your computer." But, then, they say the same thing every time and that it's their policy. I have paid for Office now and only have 1 download left. Also, this is ridiculous because I'm a student and I've had my Mac gone for 2 weeks at a time at least 3 or 4 times. When this happens, I get stuck using my iPad and can't use flash so I've spent tons of money of apps for flash and other things to make my iPad functional.
Can somebody just tell me what's wrong with it? It "passes the hardware test" every time and the Geek Squad keeps asking me stupid questions like "Did you check your internet connection and reset your modem?" When I asked them the first time to do a PRAM test, they didn't know what that was and asked me to go on iTunes or clear my cache or something like that.
I have had a bad experience with them altogether. I got my Macbook for $500 because I had a PC before that I paid $700 for and it eventually broke. They were unable to repair that one because the hard drive had failed, although they had previously been convinced that I needed to uninstall my Norton to fix that problem.
Sorry if I'm ranting, but my Macbook is like a child to me (not to sound weird) and I'm sick of this problem. It's working fine at the moment but I know this will happen again randomly like always.

If you're able to boot, launch the Console application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search, and select the most recent panic log under "System Diagnostic Reports." I have a two and half year mac book pro... I've had some issues with the screen looking scrambled when I quit certain applications, but now it's turned into something worse. I'll be working on my computer and the thing will freeze. When I force restart, the first screen, the apple logo, will be a blue tint and won't boot up normally. Then I try safe mood and it will then boot just fine. But there are blue stripes on my screen. The screen alternates from a blue tint to normal and if the computer freezes again the screen will become completely blue with black stripes. I haven't tried reinstalling my software because I don't have the startup discs that came with my computer. If I was sure that would fix it I would purchase them, but if it's a hardware issue I'm afraid that I'm screwed. I've been able to successfully get the blue off my screen by putting it to sleep and then waking it up, but that's not working well anymore either.
Does anyone else have experience with this? Is it the firmware or what? I have a MacBook Pro from early 2011 and I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.8.

I just experienced this exact same issue with my early 2011 15" macbook pro. Since like a month after purchasing it I had issues with the screen randomly going dark on me. I sent it in for repair inder waranty they replaced the gpu and logic board but I continued to have the same issues with the screen randomly going black sometimes I would need to reboot it in order to get the screen to go back on but it happened so infrequently and I used the computer for school so disnt find the time to resend it in to apple. Just last night the screen started to display the blue screen with black verticle lines on it. I called apple and explained to them the issues that had been ongoing since I purchased the laptop but they said because I was now outside of warantee that any repairs at thia point wouldn't be covered. Fml so glad I spent 2200 on this future proof macbook pro what a joke my sister purchased a toshiba laptop for 300 4 years ago and it still running like a champ. I loved my macbook but at the price I paid I expect it to last longer than 2 years before leaving me high and dry. *** apple??

also recovery mode shows up as a red icon instead of a blue one, not jail broken or had any third party alterations

What is wrong with my log in display screen?

This problem started occurring right after i updated to Yosemite, which was quite a while back. Every time I turn on my computer and I get to the log in screen where I put my password, half the screen is normal and the other half is black with green lines running through it(this was the latest) other times it is white rectangles with little black ones running through them. Im not sure what is wrong with it, I never dropped my mac or anything.

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I've tried doing that with no results. Same screen keeps showing. Maybe it'd be more helpful if I told you a bit more info. My phone was randomly playing music, and the voice control would also suddenly start without me touching the phone. Then I let the battery die and started to recharge when on the screen it indicated to plug into my computer/iTunes, I tried to restore but was getting an error message (can't remember what it said now). Battery died and now my current issue of the black screen with white apple. I'd love to be able to restore my phone but now its not showing as a device on my iTunes. HELP! Any other suggestions?

I have a new question: I've now transferred my back up datas to my new iphone. They wanted me to register, so I registered (as my old apple ID) and then they asked if I want to restore backup, I did that too. after the restore back up process, the only things that aren't there were my music and apps! what should I do to get them into my new iPhone?

Hopefully you have a backup, but...
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon. I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone. The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads. iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does. I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery. This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help. A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. Repairing it was out of the question. At this point the phone is completely useless. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have to believe this has something to do with iOS 7 issues. I have taken my screen blacked out 5s twice to the Genius Bar and the found a bunch of system apps had crashed. So if this is the case, is iOS7 the problem?
