  • What's wrong with my network?  Atv/SL/9.0 Nothing works?

Okay so the first sign of trouble was when my wife tried to use AppleTV tonight. She was told something along the lines that the files were unreadable. I closed and tried to reopen iTunes 9.0 when I was told I didn't have permission or that the disk was locked. So, I ran disk repair from Disk Utility. I was able to open iTunes 9.0 but AppleTV was no where to be found. AppleTV said nothing was synced. After reading a number of similar posts. I delinked and tried to relink AppleTV to my iTunes. No luck. It doesn't even show up on my AppleTV when I click on network. All I can do is select "other." Then after typing in the name of the network I'm told there is a problem.
I am at my wits end. iTunes 9.0 and Snow Leopard have destroyed my computer. Between Safari crashing, FireFox crashing and a host of other issues, this latest problem with AppleTV has me ready to throw in the towel.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Paul

Thank you for your response. At this point I have removed both the Time Capsule and AppleTV from my system and reverted to ethernet connections. With those two items out of the system everything is fast and (so far) flawless. At this point I have no intention of going back to the Time Capsule as that has never worked well for me and performance has only gotten worse with each "upgrade."
I have Roku and will wind down my involvement with AppleTV as well. From what I have been reading it sounds like Apple doesn't have much in store for it anyway. Again, like TIme Capsule it was a product that never worked well. It was never able to hold sync for much more than 12 hours, YouTube was often unavailable and there were a series of other problems that really outweighed its worth.
It's really a shame but even the iPhone is a bit of a joke, especially if you don't live in a major metropolitan area. I am 70 miles to the north of NYC and was told by an ATT rep that I would have 3G service well over a year ago. Well, 14 months and $2.5K later in ATT bills and I don't have 3g, seldom can access my voice mail on the iPhone without calling and overall have had such a miserable experience with them that when my contract is up I cannot imagine that I will be renewing.
I have owned cell phones since 1983 (Oki was my first with 8 number memory and a transponder the size of a brief case) and I think service here in the US is an embarrassment.
Oh, and did I tell you how downloading 3.1 destroyed my wife's iPhone? The phone could no longer access wifi, anywhere. The Apple Genius knew all about the problem as he handed her a new phone. C'mon, I thought that was the stuff that MS did, not Apple!

  • What is wrong with my playback settings?

My sequence and clip playback shows some screwed up colors with noise everywhere, but after I export it the footage looks fine. Any ideas? This is standard NTSC DV footage from a Canon GL2.

Perhaps when you copied the media across the files became corrupted. It happens.
Do you have access to the original media files on the other computer? You might have to copy them over again.
Oh, FWIW, I also have never seen anything like this. It looks like a corrupt file somewhere, but I'm not saying it isn't something else. I'm guessing basically.

  • Whats wrong with the Network?

What is wrong with the network? for about two days now i havent had 3g or 4g on my phone (droid razr maxx) just out of the blue it goes off my phone and hasnt come back. Does anyone know what happend?

Yorktown301, that's very strange, but I'm here to figure this out! Are you still having problems connecting to 3G or 4G? Let's first verify that no settings on the phone were changed. Go to Settings, More, Mobile networks, Network Mode. Ensure LTE/CDMA is selected. Go back to Settings, Data usage and make sure Mobile Data is on. If still no change, remove both your battery and SIM card for about 30 seconds. If you're still having problems, let me know what zip code you're located in.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

  • What's wrong with networking since Leopard?

    Hi,
I'm with Mac since years. I was a PC User once and spent hours with all kinds of network troubles. What convinced me with Mac right in the beginning was easy networking: It just worked!
But since Leopard things got worse: I have several MBP's, iMacs, Airport Extreme's and Airport Express's at different places which I installed, and I face the same problems at EVERY place:
    - I can't connect to AExtreme for several reasons: timeout, security incompatibility, ...
    - Sometimes only two Macs are allowed to connect to one AExtreme
    - Airport doesn't find Aiport or any other networks for minutes
    - After connecting to the router, can't get an IP (self-assigned IP only) - other PCs get an IP.
    - Aiport Extreme crashes (yellow blinking)
    - connection loss (even when AExtreme is very close)
Now I know about networking, about configuration, I've done this for years. Whatever I do, problems disappear and appear again, at different times, at different places with different hardware.
What is wrong with Leopard? Such problems remind me of times with Windows98 and stuff like that.

What's wrong with networking since Leopard?
on my network and many i have setup there have been no problems with leopard. However there are always teething problems with new operating systems. Thankfully with leopard only a tiny percentage of users experience technical difficulties.
can't connect to AExtreme for several reasons: timeout, security incompatibility,
is it set to use WPA/WPA2
Airport doesn't find Aiport or any other networks for minutes
sometimes my macbook pro takes a while to show up any networks if there are lots in the area this is because it is scanning them all.
After connecting to the router, can't get an IP (self-assigned IP only) - other PCs get an IP.
What kind of router are you using? What happens if you powercycle the router?
    # Aiport Extreme crashes (yellow blinking)
    # connection loss (even when AExtreme is very close)
Have you tried resetting your AE to default. reinstalling its firmware or checking for a firmware update?
Have you tried changing hte wireless channel your networ is broadcasting on?

Did you upgrade install your leopard installation or did you do clean (erase) installations?
Have you tried created new network locations?

  • HT3228 When I try to send an email from my Iphone it will not send and tells me the recepient will not allow relaying.  The email will sit in my outbox and then at some point will send.  It sometimes takes days.  What is wrong with my settings?

When I try to send an email either new, or reply on my phone I receive a notification that recepient will not allow relaying.  The email will then sit in my outbox.  At some point it will send but it is hardly dependable.  What is wrong with my settings?

The collum to the right listed similar problems.  The solution appears to be that under smtp outgoing settings the user name and password are listed as optional.  I have not plugged in the information and it seems to be working.  However from my office it always allowed the relaying.  The true test will be when I try to respond later from the road.
    Thank you for your help.

    Hey aries35,
I found the following that goes over troubleshooting the same issue for the iPhone. I know you have an iPad, but the steps should still apply:
    Perform the following steps:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • What was wrong with OS 10.5 airport settings

I'm wondering what was specifically wrong with the networking built into 10.5. I noticed that one of the fixes says "Improves compatibility with third-party wireless wide-area network devices". What compatability issues did they resolve?

I'm not sure what they fixed - but there were plenty to go after - take a look at the network forum for a GIANT list

  • What is wrong with camera settings -can't get it out of X-ray view

What is wrong with camera settings -can't get it out of X-ray view

It sounds like you are using Photo Booth and not the actual camera app. If you are using Photo Booth - tap the little icon in the lower left corner of the app to return to all of the different effects. Or quit Photo Booth and launch the camera app.
    To quit Photo Booth...
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.

what is wrong with apple, the ios7 is so messed up, half our texts aren't going through!!!
Also our ipad charger broke after only 9 months of use!
And our young son charged stuff on his ipad on our bank card accidentally instead of his itunes card,
and we called a month ago, and the charge was never refunded!
Can anyone tell us what's going on and who can help us!
I never thought we would ever been disappointed with Apple or the products and now within a month we are ready to give up on Apple altogether it's so frustrating and disappointing!

    For the texts:
    1. Settings > Messages > iMessage = Off
    2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. When the iPhone resets, Settings > Messages > iMessage = On
For the charger it is covered by warranty, use it. Is it the charger or the cable?
On the stuff your son charged call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service. But do keep in mind when you talk to them they are not responsible for accidents in purchasing that your son made.
