What is wrong with networking with 64bit Arch?
I have 3 hosts behind a router:
1 laptop with Arch i386
1 laptop with Arch x86_64
1 nettop with Arch x86_64
If I use 64 bit Arch, after about 15 minutes without touch anything (just in idle) the whole network stop working -> there is no internet connection, only LAN internal communications are available, but they are very slow, and the solution is to restart of the router.
I tested this with 3 different routers and the issue remains.
With 32 bit Arch there is no problems at all.
Do you experienced such kind of problems? This is very annoying!
May be 64 bit driver broke packets.
My network card of the nettop is Realtek RTL8167 and I didn't install any additional driver, just use those with installation. Main board is AT5ION-I.
Yesterday evening I migrate form i686 to x86_64 on the nettop - clean install, and after that upper mentioned problems began.
I have experienced such kind of problems in laptop with 64 bit Arch, too. The network cards are Broadcom (don't remember the model) and Intel WiFi 5100AGN.
All my analyses lead to problem with 64 bit driver and probably causing much network flood and broken packets.
PS: My LAN network is 10.74.87.0/24.

What's wrong with my Arch linux grub bootup/FSTAB? [Solved]
So ever since I did a fresh install of Arch Linux, every time it boots up and I select the Grub option it says "A start job is running for /dev/drive/" and shortly after it says timed out and continues onto the login screen as normal.
I have two drives, Windows is on the other one and on the Linux one I have just two partitions, root and swap.
I've tried to do a couple of things such as creating another grub option and setting the root to that ID however it still seems to be occurring. It seems to me that it keeps changing because sometimes when I boot it doesn't do it but it is very rare that it doesn't do the start job.
How can I permanently make the GRUB2 menu boot the correct drive and partitions, both root{ext4} and swap without it having to run a start job every time I boot it up?

Note that sda,sdb,sdc... names are assigned on a first-come, first-served, per boot basis, so they are not ideal for use in your fstab. Instead, you should use UUIDs or labels.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pe … ice_naming
The problem is back, the drive names keep changing, how can I use UUID's for the fstab?
I saw something about UUID's above each drive name however, they were commented out. Do I replace the drive name part with the UUID for every drive, so for example:
/dev/sdb1 / ext4 rw,relatime,discard,data=ordered
to
UUID=b411dc99-f0a0-4c87-9e05-184977be8539 /home ext4 rw,relatime,discard,data=ordered
Or do I just uncomment the UUID part? which would leave me with something along the lines of:
UUID=b411dc99-f0a0-4c87-9e05-184977be8539
/dev/sdb1 / ext4 rw,relatime,discard,data=ordered -
What's wrong with networking since Leopard?
Hi,
I'm with Mac since years. I was a PC User once and spent hours with all kinds of network troubles. What convinced me with Mac right in the beginning was easy networking: It just worked!
But since Leopard things got worse: I have several MBP's, iMacs, Airport Extreme's and Airport Express's at different places which I installed, and I face the same problems at EVERY place:
- I can't connect to AExtreme for several reasons: timeout, security incompatibility, ...
- Sometimes only two Macs are allowed to connect to one AExtreme
- Airport doesn't find Aiport or any other networks for minutes
- After connecting to the router, can't get an IP (self-assigned IP only) - other PCs get an IP.
- Aiport Extreme crashes (yellow blinking)
- connection loss (even when AExtreme is very close)
Now I know about networking, about configuration, I've done this for years. Whatever I do, problems disappear and appear again, at different times, at different places with different hardware.
What is wrong with Leopard? Such problems remind me of times with Windows98 and stuff like that. What's wrong with networking since Leopard?
on my network and many i have setup there have been no problems with leopard. However there are always teething problems with new operating systems. Thankfully with leopard only a tiny percentage of users experience technical difficulties.
can't connect to AExtreme for several reasons: timeout, security incompatibility,
is it set to use WPA/WPA2
Airport doesn't find Aiport or any other networks for minutes
sometimes my macbook pro takes a while to show up any networks if there are lots in the area this is because it is scanning them all.
After connecting to the router, can't get an IP (self-assigned IP only) - other PCs get an IP.
What kind of router are you using? What happens if you powercycle the router?
# Aiport Extreme crashes (yellow blinking)
# connection loss (even when AExtreme is very close)
Have you tried resetting your AE to default. reinstalling its firmware or checking for a firmware update?
Have you tried changing hte wireless channel your networ is broadcasting on?
What is wrong with Leopard? Such problems remind me of times with Windows98 and stuff like that.
Did you upgrade install your leopard installation or did you do clean (erase) installations?
Have you tried created new network locations? -
what's wrong with the activation server? i just bought my ipad wifi celllular... and have a 3g cellular network connection... when i press the bottom to activate my ipad it says the activation server cannot be reached. what to do then?
Hey aries35,
I found the following that goes over troubleshooting the same issue for the iPhone. I know you have an iPad, but the steps should still apply:
Perform the following steps:
Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

My ipod 4th generation can't connect to my wifi. I was just using it this morning. I turned it off for awhile but when i opened it in the afternoon, it just won't connect to my wifi. My wifi is ok 'cause i am able to use my mac. I wonder what is wrong with it?
- Do other devices successfully connect using your network?
- Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks?
- Reset the iPod . Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

What's wrong with my browsers?
When i first got my macbook the internet was going really slow but then i changed the dns server to 4.2.2.2 and sometimes change it to 4.2.2.1 and the internet got better but now my browsers are acting funny.
One moment i'm surfing webpages with safari or firefox.... Chatting with AdiumX or MS Messenger... and suddenly it just stops... Msn is getting time-out's, Safari says I'm not connected.
But Airport sais it is still connected to my wireless network (with all the black bar's filled). It has valid IP adress etc, But everywhere I want to go on the internet it sais I'm not connected.
When I disconnect the airport en let it reconnect with my wireless network, the connection is fine.
how can i fix this? Most users shouldn't be manually entering DNS addresses, and those DNS addresses you mention probably aren't intended for end users. Is Level3 your ISP?
That doesn't answer 'what's wrong with my browsers?', but a good start would be to configure your network according to your ISP's instructions. If you have DNS problems then, you might try using OpenDNS. -

So I am not sure what is going on?
Anyone have similar situation?
what did u do to get Safari working again for you?
thanksIf you're running 19.7.4, then you're installation is hosed. Safari 5.1.7 is what ships with that version. If you failed to save the ill-designed installer, then you'll have to waste resources installing again (necessitates DLing the entire 3.6+ GB monstrosity).

I just got my new iPad Mini2, and when I choose "sign in with your apple ID", it says that "there was a problem connecting to the server". What's wrong with this, and how can I deal with this problem?
1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again

What is wrong with my 2 month old Mac book pro retina?
I bought a new 13 inch Mac book pro Retina at the end of May 2013. I have been to the apple store and called apple care several times. Now things are very bad. It would crash and give me a white screen every so often but over the last week things have gotten very bad. It will crash with the white screen, browsers and applications all close unexpectedly - it started with firefox then safari, then mail then face book, then adobe and finally iphoto and picassa. I did send in the reports. Also if I had a picture in i-photo my picassa program is set up to grab all pictures - recently any pictures that have been grabbed it says the files are corrupted. I keep having trouble with the air port utility in that it can't find the wireless network and or the time capsuel even though it can be wireless or plugged in by ethernet. I called apple care and got this very nice tech guy and he tried many different fixes and said he thought the hard drive would need to be replaced so got an appointment to take my computer in. They ran two tests and said everything is fine with the computer it must be the software. So now I'm supposed to get apple care to help me try and save all my data on flash drives! Can't back it up on time capsuel cause he said it would just back up the problem. So this seems overwhelming and I'm so upset. Well, then I thought about it and my old mac book in which all the data and software was transferred from hasn't been erased as I was having so many issues I hadn't done that yet. So my question is if it was the software, wouldn't it be making my older mac book do the same thing? What is wrong with my New Computer? As of tonight, I can't even open anything it gives a quick flash of trying to open and closes so the computer is totally useless - so no idea how to get the data off that is most recent. Apple says they cannot help cause it is a software program but now I have a 2 month old computer whish is useless. Any thoughts?
Call Apple and make a appointment.
You have 3 months of care and up to 3 years with paid AppleCare, let them handle it and bring everything in.

- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace the jack for less. Google for more.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
Replace the jack yourself

My iPod doesn't turn on anymore. Even when I plug it into the computer or a charger, nothing happens. What's wrong with my iPod?
If you get an network timed out error, try disabling the security software on your computer.

What's wrong with 8.1.7 export utility
I was trying to export an Oracle 8.1.6 database by using export
utility from Oracle 8.1.7 client. But I get a lot of errors.
When I try to export from Oracle 8.1.6 client everything goes
smoothly.
What's wrong with export utility in Oracle 8.1.7 client??
regards,
EvanIt is because for each new version there is more and different
things that need to be exported so the x+1 exp utility expects
the new things to be there and fails if they are not.
The reason I suspect Oracle did this is that most exports are
done on the server. It is not generaly a good idea to run exp
across a network for performance reasons (ie you move the entire
database). As most exports are done on the server the
comapability is not an issue.most bullet proof solution. -

What is wrong with Safari? wont load
What is wrong with Safari, all my products won't load web pages. It's periodic with the Iphone 5, then the Ipad mini, and my Macbook air.. give us answers if you got them. Please
If none of your devices can browse the Web, the problem is in the network or in your router. Try restarting it.

what is wrong with apple, the ios7 is so messed up, half our texts aren't going through!!!
Also our ipad charger broke after only 9 months of use!
And our young son charged stuff on his ipad on our bank card accidentally instead of his itunes card,
and we called a month ago, and the charge was never refunded!
Can anyone tell us what's going on and who can help us!
I never thought we would ever been disappointed with Apple or the products and now within a month we are ready to give up on Apple altogether it's so frustrating and disappointing!
Message was edited by: patti12345For the texts:
1. Settings > Messages > iMessage = Off
2. Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
3. When the iPhone resets, Settings > Messages > iMessage = On
For the charger it is covered by warranty, use it. Is it the charger or the cable?
On the stuff your son charged call AppleCare and ask to be transferred to Customer Service. But do keep in mind when you talk to them they are not responsible for accidents in purchasing that your son made. -
I used to able to watch movies, TV series on youtube for more than 20 minute straight. In last few days, somehow it stopped after only 1-2 minutes. What is wrong with my iPhone 4S? I even updated youtube.
That would indicate an issue with the local network, not internet. This can impact devices differently and will likely be more obvious on a streaming only device.
If you are on wifi try ethernet
Make sure DNS is set to auto (settings - general - network)
Go to istumbler, netstumbler or similar to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise.

HTC/Alcatel and probably other android devices fastboot problem
I have several PCs at hand, and they all fail the same way specifically after updating to Windows 8.1, although I think I've heard complaints of some W8 users as well, but I tested one recently and it was fine, so I'll stick with the update only. I p
