What kind of filter or mask should I used?

I'm using Fireworks CS4 and have an image of thick muds splattered against our car. I'm creating a family video and am looking to creater a logo for the video where it looks like the video name is written in text in the mud. I've tried applying an inner bevel filter, but it looks poor.
What type of filter or mask can I apply to give the text depth and shadows?
Heck, I'd be willing to pay for some help at this point.
Please let me know if you have any ideas as I'm well beyond my skillo level on this one.
Thanks all.

Well...I don't really have a lot of time, right now. But I think you can do something nifty looking without a whole lot of effort.
Here are a few things you could try...
Put some text over your image. Use a wide font, like Impact. Move the text to the part of the image you'd like to have inside the text (or move the image). Select the image and copy it (Ctrl-C is fine). Select the text and go to menu Edit > Paste Inside (Ctrl-Shift-V). You can use this muddy text object over any image for a video title.
The next step is to choose a font that's more interesting than Impact. The first one I linked you to has the advantage of looking like splatters, but the disadvantage of being difficult to read. Look around dafont in the graffiti or distressed themes and see if anything catches your eye. Check the licensing if you're doing anything commercial.
Taking this method one step further, it would be nice to take advantage of some of Fireworks' fancy strokes. For this, you'll need to convert the text to paths. Select the text, menu Text > Convert to Paths. Duplicate this object. Paste your image inside the upper object. On the lower object, apply a stroke. (See example below, Layer 2.)
Hmm...example time. In the bottom example (Layer 3) the stroke is a Textured Air Brush with a Vein texture (unfortunate that the stroke name is also an effect). This is a Fireworks .png, it's just resized by the forum software:
Good luck!

  • What kind of  "addActionLister" for JTabbedPane should I use??

    Hi, friends:
I have a Jpanel called panel, contains several JTabbedPanes,
    such as tpane_1, tpane_2, tpane_3, tpane_4, tpane_5 etc,
When I click tpane_1, I should add what kind of "addActionLister" to
    Trap this event "click tpane_1"??
And When I click tpane_2, I should add what kind of "addActionLister" to
Trap this event "click tpane_2" also?? And so on??
    Please help.
    Thanks
    sunny

As you know, JTabbedPane has a method called
    void addChangeListener(ChangeListener l)
which you can use to register an object with tabbed pane that will be informed whenever a tab is selected.
JTabbedPane.addChangeListener needs an object that implements the javax.swing.event.ChangeListener interface.
Further, as you know, ChangeListener has a single method called stateChanged:
    void stateChanged(ChangeEvent e)
Use this method to react appropriately whenever the selected tab is changed.
You can also use method int getSelectedIndex() to get selected index and from that you can see selected tab.

  • What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly?

My Mac Pro doesn't have bluetooth. What kind of bluetooth dongle(usb) should I get to use my Magic Mouse properly? I already have one, but it makes the mouse seriously lacking.

I keep the dongle plugged into the back of my apple 27" monitor so that means it is only 1 to 2 feet away from the mouse.  Don't plug it into the mac pro itself if that is at any distance from the mouse.  The closer you can keep the dongle to the mouse the better.
Do a smc and pram reset.
If all is lost, and you have xcode installed then you can do a bluetooth factory reset.
Note that if you should sleep your machine, power is off the usb's, so the dongle is off.  This means you cannot wake the machine with any BT devices like the mouse (I use a wired keyboard).  Also sometimes upon waking the machine the mouse does not immediately re-pair (maybe 20% of the time).  So you have to flip its switch to get the system's attention.
While I do have internal BT, using the dongle disables the internal (at least for 2010 mac pro's).
And of course BT would go inactive if you pulled the dongle out!

  • What kind of material type i should use?

    Dear all,
I am wondering what kind of material type I should use for the following type of material:
The material is Chicken used in like KFC- type of eatery franchise store.
The eatery franchise store buy the chicken from external party, next, this store process this chicken (i.e. cut into pieces) and become chicken salad and sell this chicken salad to their consumer.
Personally, I donu2019t think this kind of material can be classified as HAWA (i.e. trading mat type) as the material is not buying and later selling as a same physical product like the retail store.
But it is buy and process it, and sell.
Please help shed some light for me. Thanks.

Hi we have not using SAP, it is a new project.
kindly please read my question carefully...
    basically it is like this...
the chicken the restaurant chain purchased are later process into multiple meal dishes (i.e. Salad Chicken, Chicken with rice, Roast Chicken), and sell to customer directly.
Therefore, looking at your feedback, I can use the SEMI-FG material type for the Chicken for the buying, correct?
But this raise another question in which how do I track the goods issue quantity when the meal dishes is sold, so that my Chicken stock quantity can reflect correctly in the SAP system?
currently they are not using BOM as the franchise holder does not wish to disclose the meal ingredient scret (i.e BOM) to their invidual franchise store.
    please advise. thanks
    Thanks.

  • What kind of iphone5 shoud I buy for using in China? The contract free, unlocked one listed for $649 is OK for me?

What kind of iphone5 shoud I buy for using in China? The contract free, unlocked one listed for $649 is OK for me? Thanks!

China phones should be purchased there as they use unique carrier settings. Phones from other countries may not work properly.
Also, the iPhone warranty is not international and won't be valid outside the country where the phone was purchased.

  • What kind of commenting system is best to use with a website created in Dreamweaver?

What kind of commenting system is best to use with a website
created in Dreamweaver? How would you rate Haloscan commenting
    service?

Hm - there is only one PowerMac G4 without a line-in - it's called "PowerMac G4 (Digital Audio)". Take a look at this document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58418
... it shows the back panels of 3 models, and if yours is the 3rd, that's it.
In this case, you can really only input sounds digitally. The cheapest solution would be to get an iMic USB device (maybe that's what your husband had - look at the pic. Older models were more like silvery), it comes for < 40 $, and you can plug a microphone into it (with the small 1/8" plug). Not super-great sound, but for that mic it should be good enough.

  • What type of hard drive replacement should i use to replace the hard drive in my first generation mac min 2005 model a 1103?

what type of hard drive replacement should I use to replace the hard drive on my first generation mac mini model a 1103?   G4 1.25 mhz 40 gb hd 1 gb. mem.

You'll need a 2.5" parallel ATA interface hard drive. Most are 5400RPM, forget 7200RPM drives and slower 4200rpm drives.  You don't want a serial ATA (SATA) drive, as that has a different connector and won't work.
One source I've used for drives is Newegg, and their parallel ATA hard drives are at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007605%2060000344 2&IsNodeId=1&name=IDE%20Ultra%20ATA100%20%2f%20ATA-6 .  Newegg also has many user comments about the drives. Other sources are OWC at http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ (Click on ATA on the left) . Look for at least a 3 year warranty.

  • What kind of menu bar navigation should i do for my website

My website to start off is a giant tree that i created in Illustrator and i want to put the navigation dispersed throughout the tree an idea i had was a tag like the kind they used to tie to your luggage with twine made out of paper I don't really want the words to just be sitting in the tree either it looks too boring. I tried doing larger leafs but i don't like that idea either it just looks out of place. what kind of Menu bar should i do for the website?

design decisions, like beauty, is your call.  but, if you like the idea of leaves and a navigation system that's not particularly easy to use, create some leaves in your tree that stand-out some way.  they need not be large and certainly not large enough to display their text.  but on mouseover they could enlarge and display their text.

  • What kind of mac pro specs should I have for video editing?

I am running the media department for Skagit Valley College and am in charge of editing for our online content. I am currently using an imac with FCP6 but am spending way too much time rendering. I am wondering about what kind of specs I should consider for building a mac pro to cut down on some of that time as well as setting up an audio recording studio. Microphones, cables, software, and hardware specs are all issues that puzzle me at the moment as far as what is going to be the best fit for my productions...
    please help
    -anthony

Virtually any Mac Pro 6-core or up will work well, but obviously the more cores the better. Save the budget by adding your own RAM (I like 2GB per core) and hard drives (3TB Hitachi 7200 RPM drives are a good value) from reputable vendors. Avoid "green" drives that use lower spindle speed to save energy.
Get the fastest available video board (currently the 5870) and consider consider dial third party displays (I'm using a pair of 27" Samsungs, half the price of a single Apple 27) and look into a Matrox MXO2 mini to handle your grading monitor.
Get a copy of Final Cut Studio (2009) ASAP while it's still available and talk to your Apple rep about additional licenses if needed. If you know FCP6 and like it, you need to "bunker" the app and ignore FCP X until it fleshes out.
If you need more help, let me know...  I've been on FCP since version 3 and I'm a native Washingtonian. Just don't call me Homie!
    Good luck!

  • What kind of a program did HP company use to compress its Software?

    Hi,
I have noticed that some Most HP software can be downloaded as standalone programs  which are  compressed files (like what is in this screen shot below)  which will need to be extracted before being installed?
Thus, I am wondering what kind of Data compression do those files have? I didn't see that WinRAR, WinZip or other achieving programs recognised such files.
When I open compressed file above, then it was extracted into a folder called 'swsetup' in this path C:\swsetup
My question is What kind of program did HP company use to compress those files?

    Huffer wrote:
I believe it may be a .tar file. I am able to extract the files in the SP file in Linux using good old tar gunzip into its various components. It is turned into a self-extractor which runs as a DOS executable.
    Thanks a lot,
I am using a Windows 7 Home premium 64Bit, I have built-in Winzip with Windows 7. Also, I have a WinRar a third-party archiving program be installed on my windows. But neither of them recognised the HP compressed files, or otherwise the look of HP compressed file would look like 'WinRaR' icon.
Yes, when I clicked on that File name(softpaq): sp68201-V(7.4.45.4), I saw that file was extracted into a folder called 'swsetup' under this path C:\swsetup', Then the setup showed to me.  However, I still don't know what program extracted that compressed HP file? Could you kindly enlighten me?

  • What kind of weather is it okay to use your ibook in?

Of course I don't mean rain, snow (or mist or fog) or meteors. I live in Chicago and sometimes my work involves me working in a unheated enclosed area. I have power, just no heat. It's starting to get cold out and sometimes I want to use my iBook in this unheated enclosed area. Is there a point that I should not use my laptop? 30 or 40 degrees?
    Thanks
    Chris

The big problem is that the hard drive may not be tolerant of low temperatures if it's not already running and generating its own heat (i.e. cold start at low temps). Cold temps can do a real job on the heads and bearings. Acceptable storage temps are always more extreme than acceptable operating temps. The rest of the electronics should actually do better in cold temps. Semiconductors switch faster and use less power if they can be kept cooler. Of course artificial cooling methods would use more power than they would save. Some extreme systems have been cryogenically cooled to heavily overclock them. Of course this means a small tower hooked up to a larger box, which effectively turns the system into a freezer.
It might not be a case of catastrophic failure, but the lubrication might not work too well when cold. I've seen some people who are using HDs as MP3 storage devices for their cars. Some in cold weather have problems starting them up in cold weather, although it depends on the individual drive. There are a few awfully expensive and low capacity drives designed for extreme heat and cold.

  • What kind of Mac Book Pro should I get as a filmmaker?

I'm not sure how I should customize a Mac Book Pro so that it would be perfect for editing HD videoclips from an HD camera (like a Canon XH-A1). I want it to last me a long time for the money I'm paying. My budget is no more than $2500 for the computer and all software included.
I was looking at these specs? Can sdmeone please ell me what I don't need for the MacBook Pro or what I should add to these specs in order for the computer to still be amazing for a filmmaker's needs? Thanks!
    MacBook Pro, 15-inch, Aluminium
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    2GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    250GB Serial ATA @ 5400
    SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Backlit Keyboard (English) / User's Guide
    Final Cut Express preinstalled
    Accessory kit
    AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook
    Cart Subtotal: $2,507.00
This is also my first time dealing with Macs so keep that in mind. Thanks!

Editing HD-Video is one of the most intensive applications you can run.
Generally maxing out CPU und RAM should be a priority (Especially RAM since its not that expensive).
The SSD-Drive might be a good idea (speedwise) to, but it´s very expensive
Keep in mind that any MBP config should be able to handle the HD-Video. They just take longer on slower models.
If you are a professional and work wih video all day long you might want to consider an Mac Pro instead of a MacBook Pro.
