What kind of FIR filter in Labview SignalExpress Tektronix Edition?

I am using FIR filter in Labview SignalExpress Tektronix Edition to process signal acquired from the TDS3032B.But i dont know what kind of this filter(Window,least-squares,or equiripple...).Does any one know about this?

  • HT2498 how do I find out what kind of fire wire port I have on my desktop? I want to transfer video from my camcorder.

how do I find out what kind of fire wire port I have on my desktop? I want to transfer video from my camcorder.

If you have Firewire 800 it's a boxy looking port, the Firewire 400 is thinner and has a arrow looking shape, you can get a adpater.
FW800 is simply FW 400 x 2, so the adapter gives you FW 400.

  • SignalExpress Tektronix Edition with TDS2014C

I have the full version of SignalExpress Tektronix Edition to use with a Tektronix TDS2014C 4-channel scope.  Unfortunately SignalExpress will only show me Channel 1 and Channel 2.  I have yet to figure out how to get it to display Channels 3 and 4.  Below are the steps I take:
Add Step -> Tektronix -> Acquire Signals -> Tek TDS1000/2000
The image below is what SignalExpress gives me.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Viper32,
Here is a link to the lates version of the driver. Install it and see if this helps the issue. It was updated in 2008.

  • What kind of Sequence do I create for an edit involving RED Scarlet and Mark 3 DSLR Footage?

I'm trying to cut together a video made up of both Red Scarlet Camera footage (R3D) and Mark 3 DSLR Camera footage (H.264 Quicktime Movie), and my question is what kind of Sequence should I create to put both of these type of footage on and should I change the footage in any way?  Could I also possibly add MPEG 4 files to this sequence as well?
Any help you could give me on the matter would be appreciated.

You can mix and match any footage into the same sequence with no penalty, and no transcoding.
Ideally, you'd create a sequence that matches the resolution of the smallest footage you have, scale the higher resolutions down, and then output to the sequence resolution.
However, that might not be what you need, depending on what your output resolution needs to be.
If your required output resolution is higher than the smallest resolution footage, then you should create a sequence at the output resolution, and possibly use After Effects to upscale your lower res footage using the wonderful Detail Preserving Upscale effect. This will maximize your footage quality.

  • What kind of audio filter would i use.

i need an audio filter that will bring out a distant clapping noise thats you cant even hear during playback. i have raised the dB as high as possible. is there a way to get it heard at all?

Just be aware, that if the audio is very slight and you raise the level .. you will also raise the levels of any surrounding room noise, etc ... so you will get a lot of hiss and maybe even echo. You can also double up the clip to increase the volume but I doubt you would be left with anything useful

  • SignalExpress Tektronix license manager

I'm still the site administrator for LabVIEW SignalExpress Tektronix Edition licenses (used by the Tektronix sales force to sell SignalExpress TE) and I still have the same computer, but IT is about to move me from XP to Win7. Will the same license manager software still work, or am I going to need an upgrade? A new license for the license manager?
    Solved!

    Hello scottdavidson,
What version of Volume License Manager are you using? Are you upgrading the server OS or client OS? If you are just upgrading client machines, you need to install your software on the new OS and point it at the server.

  • What kind of function(s) (in dlls) have to be call by a Labview application to be able to manage the PC's power supply

Assume that a Labview application is running on a PC. The PC has a DC battery. When a "power off" is detected on the AC line, data should be saved, Labview application and Windows should be closed.
What kind of function(s) (of which dll) should be called by a Labview application to realize this data and system management in a safe manner ?

UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) systems can send messages to the PC through the serial port when the AC is lost and when battery is low. I'm not sure how this message is sent but I suspect they use Windows Messaging. If you could find this out, you could write your vi to constantly look for this message and shutdown when it sees the message.

  • What kind of joystick are supported by labview 7.0?

    Dear all,
I'm going to use a USB 3D joystick (very normal one, which people used
to ues it to play game) to control a 3D XYZ stage movement.
now I'm caring what kind of 3D joystickk works in Labview 7.0? need any special joystick?
    thank you very mcuh

    weichengatech,
I've looked into the specifics of the using a joystick and found a very good article that I think will point you in the right direction. Check out the knowledge base titled Can I Monitor a Joystick or Gamepad in LabVIEW 7.x? Basically, the vi's can be used with the USB HID (Human Interface Device) class of hardware. Please post if you have questions.

  • OPC -- Labview interface. What kind of structure is good?

    Hello,
My target is build interface between OPC and Labview. Main functions of interface is: unit conversion, signal filtering, signal status generation etc. Because there is at least 300 OPC-tags configuration should be easy as possible. Measurement scales and other parametric information are read from .csv file. So there is two different inputs  shared variables (OPC) and .csv file. Output information is one cluster in shared variable.
I tryed to program structure which generate a new case if there is a new tag. I used enum control and case-structure.  This works almost okay but still I have major problems. If I change order of tags (in .csv file) I have to program almost all cases again. Every tag  must be fully configurable. E.g sometimes you can read measurement scales from OPC and sometimes from .csv file. So that was the reason why I tested case structure. I think that because every tag is different they need own case. When this interface is running these tags are updated e.g. at 1s intervals.
Does anyone have any idea how to build this kind of interface ?

what kind of a score is a good score for a
or a fresher who has taken the SCJP exam?
Is scoring 59% ok, or is it really not worth
mentioning?Given that with my career plan I wouldn't even
mention an SCJP at all, I think 59% is a pretty low
rate. Frankly, I didn't expect that someone passes at
that level. (I'm used to tests where you fail if you
don't reach 80%)Passing score for SCJP 1.4 is 52% (half + 1 question). I too was surprised it is that low.
Luckily the passing score for SCJD is a lot higher (85% I think).

  • Moving Averages in Labview SignalExpress

    Hi everyone,
I am measuring power consumption values from a PC system at 25k samples/sec and looking for a way to calculate the 1-sec and 5-sec moving averages via Labview SignalExpress (Unfortunately I don't have Labview to custom-implement this). One person suggested using FIR low pass filter instead, but I am not quite sure what values I need to set for "number of taps" and "cutoff frequency" values to have it act like a 1-second and 5-second moving average. Any suggestions here?
Also, does anyone have a .VI from Labview for a moving average functionality, which I can use in my Labview SignalExpress setup?
    Thanks,
    --Serhan

    Serhan,
If you are just aiming to smooth out your signal and reduce noise, than an FIR filter would work fine, but it sounds like you are trying to achieve an exact moving average.  Unfortunately, there are entire textbooks on filter design and getting the filter to accomplish that with great accuracy would be a feat.  It is true that the moving average is a form of the FIR filter.
I had some old code that took the running average of 100 samples in SE, but I'll have to look for it when I get to work tomorrow.  I'll post again when Ifind it.
I don't have any moving average VI's handy, but that would probably be the easiest way to accomplish this. Maybe someone can distribute their VI to Serhan?

  • Design a Filter using the Digital FIR Filter.vi

    Hello,
I was working with Digital FIR Filter.vi to create a bandstand filter.
The problem I faced is regarding the FIR Filter Specification, the Frequencies given for the Upper and Lower Pass and Stop band.
For a low pass Filter, the upper Stop Band frequency is set at 0. While the Lower Stop band frequency is set at 200.
And the Lower pass band is set at 100 while the upper pass band is set at 0.
What the lower and upper frequencies actually means? As for a low pass filter, the upper cutoff frequency must be greater than lower.
So plus tell me how does it works and what frequencies should I specify for a Bandstand Filter.
    Thanks v.much

    Hi,
Have a look at the following example: [LabVIEW Folder]\examples\Digital Filter Design\Floating-Point Filters\Conventional\Classical Filter Design.vi .This example demonstrates how to use the DFD Classical Design VI to design a lowpass, highpass, bandpass, or bandstop filter with classical design methods.
Complete the following steps to use this VI.
    1) Run the VI.
    2) Change the specifications.
    3) Observe the magnitude response and phase response. Notice that the magnitude response approximates the frequency specification and the phase response is nonlinear for IIR filters (Butterworth, Chebyshev, Inverse Chebyshev, and Elliptic).
    4) Change the Design Method to view the ripples in the passband and stopband.
    5) Observe the filter order that the VI returns automatically.
    6) Click the STOP button to stop this VI.

  • Taps in digital FIR filter.vi

I'm trying to use the digital fir filter.vi and while most things seem to behave in a reasonable fashion, the number of taps does not. Using the FIR filter help  I implemented the vis shown in the help section  with the digital FIR filter.vi and the results (magntidue) agree very well with what is asked for in terms of cut-offs and drop off rate. However, given that I'm using a unit impulse function as the input waveform, the output of the filter vi should be the coefficients of the filter. When I graph those, it is immediately apparent that it is using way more coefficients than I asked for. It quickly became apparent that it is completely ignnoring whatever number you put in for # of taps. Now to a certain extent I understand that. In order to get ever sharper cut-offs you should need more and more points. The question is, why is the number of taps an input if it is ignored or am I missing something?
The other somewhat worrying question has to do with the convolution process. If the filter is using a very large number of taps, there should be a massive delay at the start. I don't think I'm seeing that.

    Hello Russo,
Your code looks like it is set up effectively. I spoke with our development team about your question regarding the Digital Filter VI.  They confirmed that when Topology is FIR by Specification, the VI reads the filter specification and estimates an order. Then, it calls Parks-McClellan VI to design the filter. That is to say, #Taps is actually not used in this case. When Topology is Equi-ripple FIR or Windowed FIR, the #Taps is used for filter design. You can verify it by checking the order which is equal to #Taps - 1 in filter information output.
If you are interested in a more advanced filter design application, I would suggest you consider checking out the LabVIEW Digital Filter Design Toolkit.

  • I need in Formula Node to assign to the variable value 4000000000!!! What kind of variable it should be???

i've just tryed to write unsigned in32, but it does not understand 'unsogned'... But i need variable to be unsigned, because the max value = 4000000000... So, how can i solve this probleme???

    Hi,
I don't see exactly what you're trying to do here.
Where do you want to assign the variable 4000000000 to? If you want it as an
input, just use a dbl, with only zeros behind the coma.
Note that an integer is a number without any decimals. An integer in LabVIEW
is this, but with an extra limitation that it can only be 32 bits... So a
    dbl can be an integer.
If the input dbl is not an integer, use round, round to -inf or round to
+inf to make it one. This can also be done if the output needs to be an
    integer.Inside the formula node floor(x), int(x), intrz(x) or ceil(x) can be
    used to make integers.
I hope this is what you mean... I can't see any problems doing this.
    Regards,
    Wiebe.

  • ADjusting the sampling rate on a FIR filter?

How do I adjust the sampling rate on a digital FIR filter? Thanks in advance.
    -David

You should really start a new thread instead of posting to one that is 5 years old.
To answer your question, it depends on your data. I don't use the DFD but with the filter functions in LabVIEW, if you pass a waveform data type to the function, then the waveform data type contains a dt value. So, set the DAQmx Read to return waveform data. If you are using low level filter functions where the input is a 1D DBL array, then the filter has to be configured. With the low level functions in LabVIEW, you use the various coefficients functions that have a sampling frequency input.
