What kind of function(s) (in dlls) have to be call by a Labview application to be able to manage the PC's power supply

Assume that a Labview application is running on a PC. The PC has a DC battery. When a "power off" is detected on the AC line, data should be saved, Labview application and Windows should be closed.
What kind of function(s) (of which dll) should be called by a Labview application to realize this data and system management in a safe manner ?

UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) systems can send messages to the PC through the serial port when the AC is lost and when battery is low. I'm not sure how this message is sent but I suspect they use Windows Messaging. If you could find this out, you could write your vi to constantly look for this message and shutdown when it sees the message.

  • HT2498 how do I find out what kind of fire wire port I have on my desktop? I want to transfer video from my camcorder.

how do I find out what kind of fire wire port I have on my desktop? I want to transfer video from my camcorder.

If you have Firewire 800 it's a boxy looking port, the Firewire 400 is thinner and has a arrow looking shape, you can get a adpater.
FW800 is simply FW 400 x 2, so the adapter gives you FW 400.

The role for a coherence node is normally determined by the application. The tangosol.coherence.role system property is used to configure this value. Some out-of-the-box Coherence applications. CacheFactory (com.tangosol.net.CacheFactory) sets this value to CoherenceConsole. DefaultCacheServer sets this value to CoherenceServer. MBeanConnector sets the value to TangosolNetMBeanConnector. No. I have quite a few more 16,000, so I don't manually manage. Making playlists for each device makes things much easier to organize. You can create regular lists of essential tracks and smart playlists to automatically catch new content, top rated, most played etc. If you'd done it this way all along configuring a new or restored device would be the work of moments.

I am using my iPhone 5 to take pictures and have started a blog with pictures. I am not able to do the update on my phone due to lack of memory. I wanted to know how much difference this will make to my pictures.
If anyone had suggestions on how to maximize picture quality n use without the update, I'd appreciate it

If the lack of space on your phone is due to pictures, you may want to consider transferring some (or all) to a computer and deleting them from the phone. That is a good practice even if you have space on the phone. Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:

    All the best,
    Jeremy

  • What "kind" of Mac Pro do I have

Would anyone mind helping me understand what "kind" of MacPro (early, late or whatever) I have and how all of this may or may not affect how memory is recognized by WinXP through Leopard?
Is there an issue here in terms of the difference and if so, what is it exactly?
Also, will these issues be the same in terms of Windows 7 when it comes out?
Lastly, I was looking at buying a MacBook mostly because I want a small profile computer for office related tasks while on the go, even though I should be buying something that will accommodate more ram if I wanted to run my professional software on it.
Are the same kind of issues involved in what kind of MacBook or MacBookPro I buy?
    Much thanks,
    Jonathan
P.S. If I can get this information without the kind of low-grade insult and hostility that the guy with five boxes gave me on my earlier posts on this, that would be super.

Open the System Profiler in your Utilities folder. The machine information will include information such as the following:
    Model Name: Mac Pro
    Model Identifier: MacPro1,1
    Processor Name: Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed: 2.66 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 2
    Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per processor): 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
The information after Model Identifier will tell you which generation and the model within the generation. 1,1 means first generation, first model; 2,1 would mean second generation, first model. The Early 2009 (newest) model should be 4,1. There have been thus far four generations: Mid 2006, Mid 2007, Early 2008, and Early 2009.
All Intel Macs are similarly identified.
The currently made MacBooks can accommodate at least 6 GBs of RAM, although the Unibody MacBook Pro is supposed to accommodate 8 GBs. However, I don't know that anyone has reported they have successfully installed 8 GBs.
If your work requires FireWire ports then you will need the White MacBook or a MacBook Pro. Unibody MacBooks do not have a FireWire port.
Oh, and I'm the guy you insulted not the other way around. You simply have a problem listening.

  • What kind of a G3 do I have?

Sorry if I'm overlooking the obvious, but I can't figure out what kind of Mac this is.
I've recently come into possession of a PowerBook G3. It has two 64MB RAM chips, PowerPC G3 400MHz processor, and a 6GB HD. It boots up System 9.1 (I haven't seen a pre-OS X operating system in a looooong time). It does not have firewire. There's an Apple copyright sticker on the bottom that says 1999.
What do I have and what is it good for?

You have the PB G3 Lombard model http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbookg3/stats/powerbook_g3400.html It's capable of running Panther 10.3
With a HD of only 6GB, there's not much you can do with it.

  • What kind of PCI slots do I have?

Can anyone tell me an easy way to check and see what kind of PCI or PCIX slots I have on my system without opening it up?
I have a dual processor 2.0, the one that came with four Ram slots and an ATI Radeo 9650.
    Thanks!

If you check this label it will show which type of slots you have

  • Internal power - what kind of molex plug do I have/need?

    Hi all!
A quick question that I haven't been able to find the answer to:
Like so many others, I recently lost the 1900XT graphics card in my 1st gen Mac Pro (it's toast).
I replaced it with a flashed PC card - the 4870 (1 Gig).
Since I have a flashed PC card, I guess I'm not totally confident that it will control it's own fan speed accurately, since it's not meant to run on a Mac, and I don't want to lose another card to excess heat (the card seems to get REALLY hot really quick, but I never paid much attention to how the air was coming from the 1900XT, so I don't have a good basis for comparison)
    So my question is two-fold:
    1. Do I have any reason for concern, or is a flashed card going to monitor it's own temperature fine, and adjust the fan accordingly?
    2. Is the extra PCI-slot fan I bought at a local PC shop necessary, or even compatible with my Mac Pro? It seems to have a huge molex connector (around 1 inch - the "old" kind apparently) while my Mac Pro seems to only have smaller molex... Do I need an adapter to put this thing in?
Can you tell I'm paranoid to lose another video card to heat? I don't have the $$ to do this again...
    Thanks for your help!

Why don't try the ThinkVantage System Update program to automatically look for drivers?
And have you installed the Intel graphics? If your machine has Nvidia Optimus you also need to install Nvidia driver.

  • What kind of net connection should I have for a DataGuard system?

I want to construct a DataGuard system on 3 PCs( all with the RHEL5.0 OS and just for test purpose). But I don't know what kind of connection should I make between the 3 PCs? Shoud I use a router?
    Thank you for any answer.

You don't really need a router for this testing.
a simple back to back connection would work.
    or a hub even.
routers tend to get more expensive.

  • I record a midi keyboard track and it sounds fine as Im recording it, however, it won't play back in time no matter what I do, seems awfully useless to have all these "great software instruments" and not even be able to use them, one problem after another

I record a midi keyboard track along with a song, it sounds great, then, when i go to mix, playback, the midi track is behind the beat and out of sync.. i've tried every setting I can think of.. the strangest thing is that I've used this exact keyboard in the past with this exact computer, running the same version of logic pro, and it worked fine, now it just doesn't work.. it seems an awful waste to have all these "great software instruments" but they are essentially useless now... it is beyond frustrating to have this so-called "great technology" that doesn't even work and to spend more time TRYING to get it to work than actually doing some work with it...

After re-reading the first post, I don't think it would be quantize, either, sorry about that.
There are a couple more places to look:
Look at the highlights, one is for track, one is for region.  Notice how I have it on MIDI thru (top part).  That has a delay value.  When you select a region, you can have a different value there, as well.  Also, the Track part has a place with a delay value.  These are three delay values that are in addition to the audio preference Recording delay.

  • What kind of VGA hardware do i have?

i have a t530 and it is a work computer.  i don't think the drivers were set up properly with this unit.  i am trying to use sleep mode, but it is grayed out.  i was told to check the device manager and i notice there are several odd things here.
    1. 2 "standard vga graphics adapter" drivers (i tried to auto update one of these drivers, and it changed one to "nvidia nvs 5400m" driver.  i'm not sure that this thinkpad has an nvidia 5400?  it still also lists 1 "standard vga graphics adapter" also.
    2. pci serial port, pci simple communications controller, sm bus controller, and USB controller are all listed as "other devices," seemingly without drivers.
everything works fine on the laptop, except the sleep mode.  i looked in power settings and that option is completely missing, so from what i have read, i believe the problem is that my graphics drivers are not up to date.  by the looks of the "other devices," i may not have updated chipset drivers altogether.
since it's a work issued unit, i'm a little intimidated by trying to install things, but perhaps this is a very easy solution, i.e. uninstall both video cards and reinstall the correct one...however i don't know what the "correct" vga driver for the t530 is.
    thanks for any help.

Why don't try the ThinkVantage System Update program to automatically look for drivers?
