What kind of input is used for my Mac mini?

Well I'm planning on buying a Mac mini and I was wondering which input like can be used so I could connect my Mac mini to my monitor (I'm not planning on buying the Thunderbolt Display monitor) like is there some type of input so my new Mac mini can work on my old monitor?

The Mini comes with an HDMI->DVI-D adapter.  So, if your monitor
supports DVI-D you are set.  If it supports HDMI, you just need an
HDMI cable.
If it only supports VGA, you will need a Display Port->VGA adapter.

  • What kind of glass is used for the iPhone 6?

    I want to get a case before we upgrade to the iPhone 6.  Some of the cases we are looking at (Speck Mightyshell) do not come with screen protectors.  I was wondering what kind of glass is used for the iPhone 6 and if a screen protector is even necessary?

    The iPhone 6 currently uses Corning’s Gorilla Glass. There was some speculation that they would start using Sapphire glass but I guess they’re not ready yet. I have had my iPad 2 for years now and the glass is still perfectly fine. My new iPhone 6 uses a more developed version of the same glass. Will the glass break? Yes. Will the glass scratch? Yes, if you carry your phone in the same pocket as your car keys, the screen will scratch. It’s not impervious, just highly resistant.
    I do have a real life controlled experiment going on in the family. My wife and one son have their iPhone 6s in a case WITH a screen protector. Myself and my other son carry our iPhone 6s around without ANY protection whatsoever, no case and no screen protector. So far they all still look perfectly fine. We’ll se how this experiment turns out.

  • What photo gallery can I use for a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with 1GB memory?

    what photo gallery can I use for a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 with 1GB memory?

    What do you mean by photo gallery?  Are you referring to what version of the iPhoto application?  What version came with your iMac?
    iPhoto 8.1.2 would be a good choice for that system and limited amount of memory.  It comes on the iLife 09 disc which is available from 3rd party vendors like Amazon.com or eBay.com.
    If you can add memory to your iMac do so.  Increasing memory to 4 GB will do wonders for the speed of the system and applications.

  • What is good greeting card software for my mac mini with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1?  I want a wide range of existing templates such as Hallmark and Printshop offer, but can't find for this version OS X.

    For my Mac mini with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.1, what is a good greeting card software download with lots of templates and graphics?

    Hi simon2010,
    as far as I can see, I have resolved it...
    Just so I didn't write over my functioning disk in the Mac mini, I took it out and put a spare one in.  (Would have saved me going back to the Apple store to get it re-imaged if it did fail.)
    I created a Mountain Lion installer on an 8GB USB stick, and first installed 10.8.4 (the latest at the current time) on my MacBook Pro... it worked fine, so I knew the installer stick had no problems at all (that's one thing to rule out of the list of potential causes).
    With my spare hard disk in the Mac mini, I then went to try to install 10.8.4 on it, with my 16GB non-Apple RAM in it.  It failed as usual in the way I expressed originally.
    I then just swapped my 16GB RAM for the original Apple 4GB RAM (2x2GB sticks) which I put back in the machine, and I tried re-installing.  No problem whatsoever - it installed perfectly.
    It's the RAM!  Even though my RAM works perfectly once installed, the Apple OS installer refuses to proceed if Apple RAM is not in.  I put my 16GB RAM back in after installing the OS and all is fine.
    I'm quite surprised Apple has done this.
    Have you changed the RAM?  Let me know if it's the same problem or you have some differences.
    I assume it will install fine if I put the orignal HD back in, again if I have the original Apple RAM in of course.
    PS.  Also to note, the point where it failed in the installer with my 16GB RAM in, with the original Apple RAM in it took an incredibly long time towards the end of the bar moving across the screen; it says "5 minutes remaining" for at least 15, maybe 20 minutes, but gets past it eventually, then does a reboot to continue its install.

  • HT4865 Anybody know what kind of encryption is used for storage?

    The iCloud security and privacy overview says it uses encryption for storage, but doesn't mention what kind/strength. Any idea?

    Only Apple knows for certain, and they're not talking:
    Apple would not disclose to us the methods used to encrypt data on disk, and merely claimed to use industry standard practices to ensure user data is stored securely.

  • What kind of cable is used for apple earbuds?

    Hi
    My earbuds work fine, but the cable has been snatched. Being interested in fixin stuff i want to replace the cable for a new one.
    Looked around in DIY sites and forums, but audiophiles only seems to be interested in THICK HEAVY GAUGE cables that looks awesome. I just want my thin, white, soft old cable back.
    So would someone know which type and which AWG and insulation that apple uses for these things?

  • What's the best system upgrade for 'older' Mac Mini?

    My MacMini is about five years old:
    Model Name:    Mac mini
    Model Identifier:    Macmini4,1
    Processor Name:    Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:    2.4 GHz
    Number Of Processors:    1
    Total Number Of Cores:    2
    L2 Cache:    3 MB
    Memory:    2 GB
    Bus Speed:    1.07 GHz
    Boot ROM Version:    MM41.0042.B00
    SMC Version (system):    1.65f2
    This mini is still running  System 10.6.8, with the 'latest' version of Safari being version 5.1.10.
    Lately, Safari fails to perform certain features correctly on certain websites, and I have to switch to Firefox to make the websites work.
    Is it time for a system upgrade, so I can run a newer version of Safari?  If so, which newer OSX system version would be the best for me to upgrade to?

    A few other things to consider if you want to upgrade your OS.
    If you are using any apps that are still PowerPC apps, they will not run on
    any newer Mac OS.  So you will need to find replacements ($$$$).
    Also, in terms of apps, you need to make sure the apps you are currently
    using are compatible with the newer MacOS.  You may need to upgrade ($$$$)
    or find alternatives.
    Also, you will need to make sure any external hardware that you use with
    your Mac is also compatible with the newer MacOS.  You may simply need to
    update drivers or the hardware may no longer be supported ($$$$).
    So, upgrading your MacOS could end up costing more than just adding RAM!!!

  • Uses for older mac mini?

    Upgrading to the newest mac mini, but it would be nice to find a good use for the older one. I've no need to turn it into a server, but I do have a lot of music and movies.
    It's the 2009 version, so there's no hdmi. Is there another way to hook it up to a TV to make a media center?

    Get a mini displayport to HDMI adopter.
    The 2009 has two video connection, a mini DVI and a mini displayport.

  • What kind of page to use for my website

    i want to create a website with form, polls, and user login fuctionalities.. should the page be .html. xhtml. aspx or what..

    If it's a window server, then probably aspx.  I am unfamiliar with aspx so can't really offer any more advice about it's use  :-)
    However, there are probably many more freely available open source scripts and such for use on a website, for polls, login etc., if you decide to use PHP.  I guess it all depends on the type of website you are going to create and whether you are going to create it yourself on depend on 3rd party applications to help you build the site.

  • What kind of variant is used for "DB insert data.vi"

    How can a variant from "fetch All.vi" be converted into a variant ok for "DB insert data.vi"?
    In the attached files I try to doublicate a record in a database. Does anybody know how to make it run?

    Umi,
    From the 2D array of variants you obtain from the fetch all.vi, you need to extract each value, knowing each variant datatypes and build a cluster of data or variant to use in DB insert data.See VI attached.

  • What kind of glass is used for iphone 6 plus? (Accurate answer only.)

    If your not sure please don't chime in. I looked on GSMARENA and the side indicates "shatter proof" glass. If you look at the iphone 5s it lists Corning Gorilla Glass. "Shatter proof" sounds a little vague.
    Thanks!

    No one except someone inside Apple or Corning can give you a definitive answer, and since they won't respond here, you're not going to get what you're looking for.  This article is worth reading if you are willing to read between the lines, which builds a strong case of Gorilla Glass on iPhone 6:

  • What kind of input for Wrapping tool

    Hi
    I am using below command for wrapping tool
    IntuneMAMPackager -i /Users/xyz/Desktop/upload/myapp.ipa -o /Users/xyz/Desktop/upload/output/myapp_Wrapped.ipa -p /Users/xyz/Desktop/upload/xyz_Distribution.mobileprovision -c 7878200C2E4B2F892BB53E75F4042461474CD112
    What kind of input supposed to give for "-i" parameter?
    As my understanding we can give input as ".app or .ipa" for the Wrapping tool, Is that correct?
    Can we give input as "apps downloaded from apps store"?
    Can we give input as "installed apps on the mac machine(eg: App Strore.app)
    Can we give  input as ".ipa(myapp.ipa) which is created for my app using xcode from developement profile and certificate"?
    Can we give input as ".ipa(distrubitioon/enterprise ipa) which is created using xcode from distribution profile and certificate"?
    Waiting for your reply,
    Regards,

    The Mini comes with an HDMI->DVI-D adapter.  So, if your monitor
    supports DVI-D you are set.  If it supports HDMI, you just need an
    HDMI cable.
    If it only supports VGA, you will need a Display Port->VGA adapter.

  • What kind of input parameter is used in SUM function?

    Hi Everyone,
    As we know sum is a predefined oracle function. But what these oracle guys have used for the input parameters. How they have done this?
    I mean we can write this sum fuction like so many ways like as mentioned below. Please give me some ideas how to do that.
    SELECT SUM(salary) as "Total Salary" FROM employees;
    SELECT SUM(DISTINCT salary) as "Total Salary" FROM employees;
    SELECT SUM(income - expenses) as "Net Income" FROM gl_transactions;
    SELECT SUM(sales * 0.10) as "Commission" FROM order_details;Regards,

    SELECT SUM(sales * 0.10) as "Commission" FROM order_details;Regards,
    BS2012As others have said, your question is not quite clear.
    There are many aspects and angles to looking at what you are asking.
    Primarily, from a top-level, the sum function simply takes a number value as it's argument, so all those examples you have given have expressions in them that evaluate to a numeric value before being supplied to the sum function. (As someone else already mentioned you can have non-numeric datatypes, just so long as they can implicitly be converted to a numeric value).
    From a statement parsing and execution perspective, the contents of the expression inside the brackets will be evaluated before being passed to the sum function. It is not the sum function that itself takes the expression and evaluates it. The sum function just expects a single numeric value.
    Internally, what the sum function does, is more than just a single... call function and return value, because it has to deal with multiple values being passed in as part of the aggregating group. As such, it needs to have the ability to know when to start it's summing, to accept multiple values as input so it can sum them together, and to know when to stop summing inputs and pass the result back.
    If we write our own user defined aggregate function (other people have already provided a link to explain such) we can see what is happening internally. In this following example, we'll write a user defined function that multiplies the values rather than sums them...
    create or replace type mul_type as object(
      val number,
      static function ODCIAggregateInitialize(sctx in out mul_type) return number,
      member function ODCIAggregateIterate(self in out mul_type, value in number) return number,
      member function ODCIAggregateTerminate(self in mul_type, returnvalue out number, flags in number) return number,
      member function ODCIAggregateMerge(self in out mul_type, ctx2 in mul_type) return number
    create or replace type body mul_type is
      static function ODCIAggregateInitialize(sctx in out mul_type) return number is
      begin
        sctx := mul_type(null);
        return ODCIConst.Success;
      end;
      member function ODCIAggregateIterate(self in out mul_type, value in number) return number is
      begin
        self.val := nvl(self.val,1) * value;
        return ODCIConst.Success;
      end;
      member function ODCIAggregateTerminate(self in mul_type, returnvalue out number, flags in number) return number is
      begin
        returnValue := self.val;
        return ODCIConst.Success;
      end;
      member function ODCIAggregateMerge(self in out mul_type, ctx2 in mul_type) return number is
      begin
        self.val := self.val * ctx2.val;
        return ODCIConst.Success;
      end;
    end;
    create or replace function mul(input number) return number deterministic parallel_enable aggregate using mul_type;
    /So, our user defined aggregate function is based on an aggregate object type.
    This object holds a value ("val" in our example).
    It has an Initialize method, so when the SQL engine indicates that it's the start of an aggregation of values it can set it's value to an initial value (in this case null).
    It has an Iterate method, so as the SQL engine passes values to it as part of the aggregated set of values, it can process them (in our case it multiplies the input value with the value it already has for this set of aggregations (and takes a base value of 1 for the first iteration))
    It has a Terminate method, so when the SQL engine indicates that the aggregate set of values is complete, it can return the result.
    The last method in there is a Merge and is a mandatory requirement, so that when aggregation is done using parallel evaluation (to improve performance internally), the results of those parallelly executed aggregations can be combined together (see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e10765/ext_agg_ref.htm#ADDCI5132). As we're multiplying numbers, in our case, it is simply a case of multiplying one result with the other.
    And to see it working...
    SQL> with t as (select 2 as x from dual union all
      2             select 3 from dual union all
      3             select 4 from dual union all
      4             select 5 from dual)
      5  --
      6  select mul(x)
      7  from t;
        MUL(X)
           120
