Hi! I'm going off to college in a couple months and I want to be able to lock my MacBook Pro 13" to a desk or something in my room so it's secure while I'm away. I've looked at a couple Kensington locks which have had mixed reviews. I'm just wondering if you have bought a lock that has worked well. My price range is anything $50 or below. Thank you in advance.

I'd like to chime in and offer a differing opinion. The size factor of all SSD's don't leave much to question, but there are a couple other things that you can research and take into account.
The biggest thing to look for after the capcity you want is the connection speed. Your Macbook is last generation compatible with SATA 3.0Gbs transfer speeds, and while you can still utilize an SSD with SATA 6.0Gbs, your connection won't be able to fully utilize the full speed of such an SSD.
The upside is that SATA 3.0Gbs SSD's are selling for much less now on ebay and on Amazon since they are last generation, so you can pick one up on a budget. If money is not an issue and you'd like to spend a bit more for the latest generation SSD that you can transplant into the laptop you want to purchase after your mid 2009, a current generation SATA 6.0Gbs SSD is going to work fine and will also work great in whatever you upgrade to.

have had this for over two years, moved around a lot with the drive, ( to date ) no problems, they have good after sales support; give them a call if you need info.
There are a lot of drives out there as others here will let you know, there are good NAME drives but they also fail, POPULAR drives also fail, select the one you are happy with for your system and how you plan to use.
i suggest if $ is not a problem get a big drive you will find someting to put on it and is better.

Installing RAM in a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro
There is really only one way to install RAM into a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro and while there are hundreds of DIY videos online, I just like this one, found on YouTube, by “macmixing”.
Note that there is a difference in the RAM that should be used in 2011 and 2012 models.
2011 models must use:
•204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
And 2012 models must use:
•204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

Remember that the 13", 15" and 17" 2011 models (early or late) and the 13" and 15" mid-2012 non-Retina models can handle 4GB, 8GB or (unofficially, but, believe me, it works) 16GB of RAM. There are, in my opinion, only two 100% Mac-compatible vendors out there: Crucial and OWC. I really can't recommend any other brands, even though it may work, as these are the only brands that I've personally used in quite a while. Also remember to stay away from any RAM that is a “value” brand - Macs are picky about RAM and often these value RAM modules just don’t work very well.

Hey Guys. I think this is in the correct section.
So I have a Macbook Pro (specs at the bottom) and I am looking to add an external monitor to use as a second monitor and at other times a screen for my playstation. I have never had a monitor before so not sure how big? What resolution? What ppi? HD, UHD, 4K? Someone said something about refresh rate. I have no idea what that is. None of this stuff I know.
Obviously I want the best screen I can have and I would connect my Macbook to it by HDMI using a Thunderbolt to HDMI converter and connect my ps3 to it by HDMI.
What is the highest resolution a HDMI/Thunderbolt can handle?

Also I connected it up to my TV once and if I put my mouse at the bottom of the screen and then moved it onto my macbook screen it disapeared and didn't appear again until I moved it up and I don't want this problem

Hi, I recently purchased a inverter charger that has an outlet to charge a computer and can be used as a typical USB charger for a phone. The charger says that it has a continuous charge of 120V but a maximum of 150V. I don't understand what the problem is though because on the MacBook charger it says that it's intake is 100-240V and all of the other outputs and inputs match the specifications for the charging device. And DO things, try things, play with your stuff, make experiments just for the trash bin!

i assumed this would mean fast action graphics would display better?
