What kind of noise it is?

This is my 1st post, though I am fan of Apple product and this forum. However, My PB G4 12" is almost a year old. And I am so happy with this great piece of machine. I really LOVE it. But I am a bit worried about a noise coming out of this nice machine. I am not sure about the source of the noise, which is something similar to the noise that comes out while a pingpong ball being grounded up. The duration of the noise is approx. 0.5 sec but the frequency is, say, once in a minute or two or sometimes greater than 5 min.! So far I remember, I experience this noise since the day I started using it. Is there anything to worry about it? May I request your kind help to get rid of this noise. Thank you in advance. It sounds like your harddisc rotating, which means it's doing its job. When you give your computer commands it starts to compute. So if I'm right you have nothing to worry about. Enjoy.

What kind of cool things can you do with the ipad and macbook combined?
I was wondering what kind of cool things can be done between the macbook pro and the ipad mini. For example syncing and other ways of communication between the two devices.
How to sync
Enable "Find my iPad" in Settings > iCloud. Put your name on the back. Losing it is not cool.
Make it easy for someone to find you when you misplace it:
Tape a business card to the back.
If that is inelegant then make a pretty label with a phone number so that when you lose it, there is the possibility you can be reunited with it and perhaps meet someone nice as well.
Enable "Find my iPad" in Settings > iCloud. This enables you to send a message or play a loud noise should you misplace it.
Disable "in-app purchases" in Settings > General > Restrictions. This prevents unauthorized or unintentional purchases, some of which are expensive. You will need a password. Don't forget your password.
Sync it to a computer running iTunes. Back up the computer because the iPad is not a backup. If it's a Windows computer, have several backups. Windows computers die with predictable regularity for a number of reasons. Your iPad is synced to one and only one computer at a time, so if its mate is lost then its content will be erased when you replace your computer. Extracting content from your iPad is not trivial and not free.
The Remote app enables you to control your MacBook's iTunes library remotely, along with an AirPort Express, you have a remote control for your stereo. -
What Kind of Music Can Be Found In Your Micro/Touch/Etc
I'm sorry if this kind of post is discouraged seeing how this board is made for support and etc, but curiosity got the better of me..
As the title of the topic said.. what kind of music can be found in your MP3 player? As I'm on a search for some decent better music, post some of your most played or favorite songs that you currently play in your player.

You don't need a server, you just need a web hosting package such as the ones from GoDaddy or many other hosts. You then send the web gallery directly from LR to your web space.
As you're asking such basic questions, it might be best if you read articles like this and see if a friend or colleague can get you started. -
I am traveling to India, north and south, with my ipad 2, G-3. It is activated by AT and T. How do I use it in India? Do I need to purchase a sim card there and if so what kind? Would they be available in the Delhi airport or where else in central Delhi?
Also in order not to pay a fortune for the service is it better to acquire if needed a SIM card only once there?
Check with your carrier about roaming charges. They are usually prohibitive. Best to get a local SIM. -
I have 2 lines that the contracts are expired. I see that I can set an appointment, have them set up the iPhone of choice to my Verizon account and it even says that they will give me any product upgrade benefits. I find this hard to beleive. For one of the lines i have a product upgrade of $50 (Verizon calls it New Every Two which they did away with but still offer it to people who had it and did not use it yet). On my other line there is a $35 product upgrade. I can't beleive that Apple would give these product upgrade rewards( the $50 for the one line and the $35 for the 2nd line)
does anybody know how to tell if someone is with a carrier like Verizon, how to figure out what kind of iPhone package I should get so Verizon can't get me for going over my ;allotted minutes, text messages, internet usage, etc. I have never used a smartphone so I have no idea how to tell what kind of package I need for the iPhone. anybody else know? I saw that Sprint has a package that is "unlimited with all 4 services like text messages, internet usage, calls, etc for $99/mo. is this still the case? Verizon does everything they can to rip you off and charge you for going over. I have not been able to figure out how I can tell when I am getting close to going over. is there an app to tell this?
Any suggestions about getting this servic where apple sets it all up, teaches you how to use the phone, gives a decent warranty and offers applecare. any other carier that would be better? I heard that the unlimited data transfers does not mean "unlimited" but they still put an amount on the unlinites and if you go over you get docked. I hate Verizon.I should say before everybody else does I never learned how to type and barely learned how to write and spell so I probably should have done this some other way. Sorry.

EnricoTake a look at what is offered by Mac specialists, such as OWC http://www.macsales.com and see what drives they handle. Their drives are all guaranteed to be compatible with Macs. And they have on-line videos that show how to do the installation.
Even if there are problems getting them to deliver where you live, you can get ideas of what works well with your system. -
I have one HDMI port on my television that is currently used for my hard drive/free view box. What kind of adaptor can I buy so I can have the hard drive and my apple tv device plugged into the same HDMI PORT? Is it a switch or a splitter? And where is it best to buy one? Thanks!

I am moving to the UK, What kind of charger do I need?
I have a MacBook I got in 2009. Im moving abroad in September and Im trying to figure out what kind of charger I will need. I know you can pop off the little plug part on the adapter, and I saw on amazon that I can buy an extension that fits onto the adapter with a UK head on it. Do you think this will work? Or am I going to have to buy a completely new charger? I hope not because the adapter head on Amazon is only like $10!!! I guess Im just wondering if anyone else has had experience with this. I know the voltage in the UK is like 220 and in the Sates its only 110, and I obviously dont want to fry my computer or the adapter, so I just want to make sure Im doing the right thing!!!!!!!

What kind of CD-R should I use?
I've recently had problems burning CD's from iTunes . . .the CD's seem to burn correctly, but when I insert them into one of several DVD players, they skip, pop and do other weird things. (Burning DVDs from iDVD runs smoothly.) I have the original drive that came with my G5 as follows: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-117D.
Reading through the forums, it seems that the type of media used is a common cause of problems like this. I don't know what kind of CD's I was using before, but the spindle I have now contains Memorex CD's with a 52X max speed, and hold 700 MB.
I think my drive has a maximum speed of 16X, so I tested burning at 16X and then 4X . . .I got the same results.
If I'm reading the threads correctly, my drive would work best with 650 MB disks with a max burn speed of 16X. As far as I can tell from Goggling however, that kind of disk is no longer exists.
So what specs should I look for that will be most compatible with my drive?

BryceThanks! It looks like these drives are only $26 . . .I'll bet I've spent at least half that much in wasted CD's over the past few days.
Perhaps this next question should go over to the Final Cut Pro discussions, but I'll start here . . .as long as I'm considering replacing the drive, I'm wondering if I should upgrade to something better/faster.
I remember there being an issue some years ago that software like iDVD and DVD Studio Pro would only write to certain Apple sanctioned DVD burners.
For me, it's less about the money and more about have equipment that works properly . . .and faster (time is money).
Any advice about upgrading? -
I have an old Mac Tower. I need to move data from the unit to an external hard drive. What kind of of hard drive must I purchase so that it works with the Tower? There is not a lot to transfer.

What we might need to do is to change the question. What computer do you plan to use the data on in the future? For example, if you have a newer tower, just move the hard drive to the new tower. If you want to use the data, what about an ethernet LAN to get the data over? If you want to archive the data, how do you store the second drive? What are your plans for the first drive? If the new software will not recognize the old file type, the data must be exported. Just getting files to another hard drive will not finish your journey.
As Allan said, knowing the exact model and year of your tower is important. My suggestion is to find a user group near you. Please post back with more information, including the name of a large city near you.
For example, our user group just experimented with a 1983 Apple IIc that predates the Mac. It started right up, read files from 1984 and saved them from a 5.25" floppy to a 3.5" floppy. That 3.5 floppy will go into a platinum G3 which will read PRODOS files using Apple File Exchange. That G3, with a USB card, will allow saving the files to a USB flash drive. But, somewhere along the way, some software has to read the file and convert it to data that is useable by current software.

I have a back up of the folder 'iTunes Media' on a Nas (LaCie CloudBox).
I do a weekly update.
Everything is cool.
Now I would love to keep the iTunes Mediafolder on the Nas and delete the one on my internal HD.
What kind of trouble I may run into?
Where are the hidden catches?
What can go wrong, and how can i undo any mistake?
I also have an iTunes Match acccount.

Read this user tip Make and keep a backup of your iTunes library, and only stream from the cloud.
Problems? No hidden catches. Whilst streaming using match, you will need a wifi connection. You main worry is that if your NAS drives fails, you need to redownload your music from match but this could take time depending on how large your collection is. Personally I keep an additional backup of all my music as a matter of course.
