What kind of printer would you use to print on a lorry?

Hi,
One of my client sells items from the lorry, so he wants his drivers to print invoices on the way. My question is what kind of printer would you use to print on a lorry? Any idea, experience?
Thx in advance,
Laci

Hi Laci,
There are quite a few mobile printers, for example HP does a range of battery powered Officejet printers which you could use on the go. For instance, check this out:

I hope this helps!

  • What kind of mouse do you use?

The trusty Logitech wireless mouse that I've used for about 5 years now is nearing the end of its life and I'm looking for suggestions on a replacement. The Arc Mouse by Microsoft has received some nice reviews; so far it's at the top of my list.
Simple question, what kind of mouse do you use now?

I'd vote Logitech's Performance MX mouse all the way! (assuming that you are right handed though, it is really made for right-hand use only)
    Love them!
It is a cordless, rechargeable design with a laser that works on just about any surface, even glass. The scroll wheel is butter smooth and has inertia for massive scrolls.
This is one of the most expensive options out there, but IMHO so worth it.

  • What kind of fragmentation would you park this under ?

    hi guys
    i am reading about
    alter table xxxx shrink command;
    on http://www.oracle.com/technology/pub/articles/10gdba/week15_10gdba.html
q1) do you consider this as a fragmentation ?
q2) if so, what kind of fragmentation does this falls under ?
q3) o`reilly oracle essential park this under segment fragmentation
but to me. it seems to be some kind "blocks fragmentation" which i believe, those empty spaces will be reuse again due to further insert or updates and those empty spaces will be coaleces during the reuse of the freespace as state in the oracle concept
<i>Released space may or may not be contiguous with the main area of free space in a
data block. Oracle coalesces the free space of a data block only when (1) an INSERT or
UPDATE statement attempts to use a block that contains enough free space to contain a
new row piece, and (2) the free space is fragmented so the row piece cannot be
inserted in a contiguous section of the block. </i>
hope to hear advices from you guys soon.
    Regards,
    Noob

    q1 no
q3 if it would qualify as fragmentation it is segment fragmentation.
    But it's not fragmentation.
The article is poor and shouldn't have been posted on Oracle's website.
The author fails to differentiate between freelist managed tablespaces and ASSM tablespaces. In the latter case fragmentation is no longer an issue.
Also the author states alter table move should move to a new tablespace and can't be executed online.
    Both are incorrect.
Finally the article omits one fundamental question: does suffering from Compulsive Reorganization Disorder solve fragmentation? Or is it just a waste of resources?

  • What kind of camcorder would you recommend for FCE HD 3.5?

    Hello everyone,
I'm very new here and have been trying to search for the answer to my question without having to bug anyone, but now I am under the gun, as it were.
I need to purchase something within a week and a half and would truly appreciate suggestions from anyone here. Here are a list of my questions and I hope you all will be kind of enough to help me. Thank you in advance.
1- I would prefer a camcorder that records to a DVD, but if tape is way better, please let me know.
2- I see that FCE does not support AVCHD. What other pitfalls are there to avoid in purchasing a camcorder that is compatible with FCE HD?
3- My dream is to have a camcorder that can record in 24p, but can't seem to determine whether FCE HD can support it. Please help!
4- Am willing to pay more for CCD sensor range - is this helping?
5-Would like to shoot in 16:9 ratio and with lines of resolution of 720 and higher, this possible with FCE?
5- With the questions above...what camcorder would you recommend?
I know some of the camcorders that have these features are ranging from $900 to over $1,000 but would consider it a good investment for things I would like to do in the future.
I hope the information I've given is enough for you all to give your suggestions. Thank you again.

They are not bad - just unsuitable for FCE and all good editing programs.
There are several totally different kinds of Digital Video - many people mistakenly think all "digital" is the same.
DVD, Flash Memory or Hard Disk camcorders produce video in a version of the MPEG format.
FCE etc. only handles video in the DV or QT format which is totally different from MPEG.
One analogy would be to buy a diesel powered car and then find that all the filling stations in your area only had petrol (gasolene) pumps. Your car would be pretty useless !
The only way MPEG can be used in FCE is by converting it to DV or QT which wastes time or money and results in slightly reduced quality.
All these cameras are produced for the mass market (where the money is), to be used by people with no knowledge or interest in film-making or editing.

  • What kind of RAM do you use with your K7D Master-L? (esp. unbuff)

I was windering what kind of RAM people sue with their K7D Master-L mobos.  I recently got one with a 512 stick of Mushkiin Level 2 CAS222 RAM however I'm having boot problem. I'm going to test registered RAM soon to see if that is the problem.
Have people had success with unbuffered RAM? I really want to use Mushkin or Corsair XMS RAM for their high performance and overclockability, but if I can't oh well
    -Matt

Use registered. I have used kingston and infineon working fine ( besides some funny things at some point)

For blog posts I prefer general IT information. I don't usually categorize How-To's and Videos as a blog post. Do you think it's acceptable for a blog to link to a Video or to have a few links of text and a video?
Personally, on a blog I like a few how to's, information on the company and most importantly? Exposure of bugs and issues. If something in the product is broken then TELL US. If a patch comes out, TELL US.
So many places don't inform people when a patch or update is out.

So we're planning out our blog posts and social media for Q3 and I just wanted to ask what kind of stuff from a backup company like Carbonite would you like to see?
    How-tos?
    Videos?
    General IT information
    Tutorials?
    Lemme know
Also I apologize if this isn't supposed to be in the backup forum...I didn't know where else to put it

  • What inheritance mapping strategy would you use here, if any?

    [Scenario]
I have a somewhat unusual problem. I have a set of entities, like Movie, Book etc. that all inherit Item class and that are perfectly identical in their structure (as none of them has any specific fields on it's own). They all have Id, Name, Description and Image fields, nothing else. The only difference between them is that some, obviously, represent movies, some of them books etc. If I didn't need to know their type, I wouldn't need inheritance at all.
    [SINGLE_TABLE]
Obviously, all these entities could be easily persisted into the same table with a discriminator column (and entities themselves would have a @DiscriminatorValue) i.e using SINGLE_TABLE strategy. But, I would avoid this approach as there will be a lot of persisted entities, like, tens of thousands of each type (which means tables that map M-M relations could have millions or tens of millions of rows), so I'm guessing this approach would kill the performance.
    [JOINED]
JOINED strategy has the same problems as SINGLE_TABLE.
    [TABLE_PER_CLASS]
My opinion here, is that TABLE_PER_CLASS strategy would be the best approach, as I will rarely, if ever, query across multiple types. Item (the supertype) has only unidirectional 1:M relations, so , if I get this right, this is OK as well, as it avoids UNION when queried (please confirm or correct me on this), e.g. the query to fetch books and their votes (1:M) would resolve to SELECT * FROM Book b JOIN Vote v ON b.id = v.item_id, so no UNION... right?
But maybe I don't need inheritance mapping at all then...
What is your opinion here? Any shared thoughts are appreciated.

The disadvantage of using table_per_class would be that you have to duplicate the field structure many times (e.g. code duplication). If you ever want to change certain fields you (or the db-administrator) would have to do that a few times. Since in eventually you always have to use direct sql one time or another, making the database design as clear as the java code (where you wouldn't want code duplication either). Direct SQL you'd often need for optimilazition or because certain operations can be done in one SQL query, while requiring a lot of code if done in java.
You could use a single table, without losing performance. If you add an index to the discriminator type, a modern database will optimize queries and won't to full table scan. That way you have a clean database design, without losing performance.
If you ever need extra fields for say movie that you don't need for book (like duration in minutes, director), you can then create an extra table movie that contains only the fields that are extra. Retrieving movie then requires a join of item and movie, but since movie would be a smaller table and the join will be on indexed field, that wouldn't hurt performance. The database design keeps being clear and readable, as well as your java code.
If you really don't care about your relational database design, don't use a relation database but rather an object database. Object database are optimized for retrieving object graphs (retrieving a graph of objects won't require joins and table scans). The only disadvantage, aggragation of data is usually slower.

  • HT201363 my husband received an email from Apple stating we needed new credit card information.  We had just gotten a new credit card and couldn't remember if we updated it or not.  What kind of questions would you ask for that? It may have been fraud?

My husband received an email from Apple stating our account was frozen and we needed to update our credit information.  We recently got a new credit card and so went ahead and updated information.  They asked about mothers maiden name and social security information.  Now we are feeling skeptical.  Are these the kinds of questions Apple would ask?  Now all my information is out there and I can't even get a hold of a human being at support to answer any questions for me as to whether they sent this or not????? Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That email was a phishing attempt to get your iTunes account and payment details - iTunes accounts aren't 'frozen', and iTunes don't need your social security info.
If your husband entered his card details then he should contact the card issuer immediately and get it cancelled and replaced.
He should also change the password on his iTunes account e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on his computer's iTunes or via http://appleid.apple.com
If you still have the email then you could forward it to Apple : [email protected]

  • What kind of cord would I use to plug my new stereo into my iPad 4?

My iPad is a 4 and my stereo is a new Sony MHCEC619iP 120 Watts Music System, and I can't find a cord to fit it anywhere.

From everything I've read, this works with iPhone an iPad. The dock on top does not fit an iPad. theoretically, it would work  if you could get it to fit.
You could try a Lightning extension cable like this: http://www.amazon.com/Lightning-Extension-Through-dockXtender-CableJive/dp/B00GP 08858
Plug it in where you would dock the iPhone/iPod, then connect your regular Lightning cable between it and the iPad.

  • I want to create a 5" x 7" multiple page booklet in Pages  what kind of template do I use to make sure the information is on the right page and will print on the proper sheets?

I want to create a 5" x 7" multiple page booklet in Pages.  What kind of template do I use so the text prints in order on the pages and on the right sheets?  HELP!!!!

While there are templates available for several n page booklets, using them requires a separate template for each size (in pages) booklet you'll want to make.
A better method is to use some form of imposition software for mac that will do the imposing (placing each page on the correct sheet) using a copy of your content, printed to a PDF document. The link is to a Google search using that phrase as the search term.
For a more detailed discussion of imposition and some of the available software, see Peter Breis's post "imposing booklets" at the iWork Tips & Tricks site. (Scroll down)

  • What sequence setting would you use to edit 1280 x1080 DVCProHD (P2) and 1920 x 1080 AVCHD (Sony) in FCP. Experiencing Quality and rendering issues.

What sequence setting would you use to edit both 1280 x1080 DVCProHD (P2) and 1920 x 1080 AVCHD (Sony) in a single timeline in FCP. I'm experiencing quality and rendering issues.  I've tried numerous settings but can't seem to figure this one out.  Thanks for your assistance.

Although you can combine the avchd 1920x1080 material with prores 1920x1080 in the same timeline, you might land up saving time just converting everything to 1920x1080 prores 422.   You'd probably reduce the amount of rendering while you're working and exporting when you're done by a great deal.  This workflow will require much more drive space.

what version of windows would you most recommend using?
XP Home, XP Professional, Vista Home, Vista Business?
I see that XP takes up 1.5GB versus Vista's 20GB. XP uses 128MB Ram versus vista 512MB.
It would seem like XP would run faster and take up less space... but is it the best choice? Thanks for the suggestions.

What camera raw default settings would you use for the Canon 5D Mark 3. I have PS CS6.  Thank you.

Really, this is a question you should be asking yourself...
What do you shoot? Makes a difference...
Typical ISO that you shoot? Makes a difference...
Shooting for clients or yourself? Makes a difference...
Look, there is no magic bullet...the ACR/LR "Default" should only be changed for those adjustments you make 70-90% of the time and sould not be confused with image by image adjustments...
So, as asked, your question can not really be answered other than to say, use a default that suits you.
