Macs are very, VERY picky about the RAM specs they need.
That RAM is the wrong pin count and probably for PCs and not a Mac

You're welcome. Funny how Apple works isn't it? If it's any consolation, that Airport/Bluetooth card doesn't show up on the Apple U.S. store either. I don't think they ever intended it to be a user installable part, so perhaps that's why they don't offer it for sale. Do you have any Apple Authorized Service providers in your area? I'd think they'd be able to order the card as a replacement part.
Can you give a little more detail or a link to the gadget you're referring to? It sounds like a USB dongle to enable Wi-Fi, but that must be a third party solution, since I don't believe Apple ever offered something like that.

R830 - What kind of RAM do I need

Hi All,
Toshiba telephone support was unable to help me so I turn to you.
I have a Portege R830 (Model: PT320C-01J018) which has 4GB of RAM.
I assume this is commonly referred to as Portege R830-01J model? (I hope I'm right otherwise my model number simply does not exist)
I am running 64bit Win7 and would like to add another 4GB, as I wish to run VMWare. However I simply cannot figure out what kind of RAM I need to buy. The technical specs.
Crucial RAM website says I need DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
Kingston RAM website says I need DDR3 1333 PC3-10600
An ad on Ebay says I need DDR3 1333 PC3-10600 (same as what Kingston recommends)
I opened up the slot for the RAM but could see no markings that were helpful.
If anyone out there can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

I'm wanting to upgrade my memory (I currently have 512 mb, WAY too slow for what I'm using it for. Apparently I have 2 sticks of 256 mb. I'm wanting to upgrade to 2gb, or possible even 4gb if possible. I don't know where I can buy some ram. Apparently there is a specific kind of ram that I need to get, and I don't know what it is, or where to get it. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a new late 2013 Macbook Pro. I noticed that it has a new firewire port! However, I need to digitize video footage from Mini DV tapes. The camera I'll be using to digitize my footage is a Canon Vixia HV30. Does anyone know what kind of firewire cable I'd need? Will I need an adapter of some sort?

Any 2.5" SATA SSD will work. Is it your plan to do the work yourself or take it to Apple. If the latter, then you will need to arrange to have an Apple SSD installed by them. They will not install one that you buy. If you do the work then shop for a suitable product at OWC or you can purchase other brands at places such as NewEgg.com. OCZ and Samsung both have compatible SSDs. Be sure to get one that supports SATA III 6 Gb/s also referred to as 6G.

i'm new to computerized actuators, i need to control a stepper motor that can turn both directions and can be controlled by a 0-5 volt sensor. i need to be able to set the targeted volts and have it turn one direction if its reading over, and the other direction if its reading under. I'm looking to upgrade my iMac G4 1GHz so it will run leopard.
Right now it has only the RAM it came with:
1 slot with 256MB DDR SDRAM PC2700U-25330.
I have no idea what any of this means, and I'm just trying to get to 512MB.

and select your exact iMac type. I would get a 1GB module to give you 1.25GB total. Your iMac has two memory slots. The slot on top comes with a 256mb module; it is not user accessible (at least not easily). The slot on the bottom is easily accessible. You can get the instructions here

The bottom slot can hold up to 1GB.

I have a Quad Core 2.8ghz Mac Pro with 6gb of Ram. I am constantly having problems rendering video and stuff because of the low memory. I want to upgrade and add more.
