What kind of RAM is compatible for my MacBook

I have a black MacBook 2.0 ghz 1 year old.
I want to upgrade from 1gb to 2gb of RAM.
What brand should I buy? (Apple's is too expensive)

$50 (give or take $5) seems to be a common price point right now for 2x1GB of PC2-5300 SODIMMS. I saw several different brands (Patriot for example) at about that price at Fry's Electronics. The price seems to have gone up $5 this week, but that's the volatility of DRAM prices.
Crucial from Micron Technology is pretty highly recommended. I've bought through Crucial.com, but often the prices are better through other retailers like Newegg. Here are a few options from Crucial and Newegg. Crucial.com will give you a compatibility guarantee and free shipping if you order specifically for your machine. They collect sales tax in California. Right now they've got the memory you need (first link) for $51.99+tax (if collected).

    Thanks.

The specification of your notebook model is not known to me but if you want to upgrade RAM check please this Kingston page .

  • What kind of RAM for a MacBook?

I bought the Intel Core Duo 2.0GHz MacBook and I'm wondering what kind of RAM this computer uses? It's the model preceding the current MacBook.

Both MacBook models use the same, if you want to make sure you are getting compatible RAM, buy from a company that guarantees mac compatibility like
    http://www.crucial.com
    http://www.macsales.com
Both of them have memory advisors for Apple computers on their site.

  • What kind of Ram do I need for my Mac?

    Hello
I want to upgrade the speed of my mac by adding a 2GB stick of ram. But what kind of ram do i need? Would this work for my Mac (Mid 2011 21.5 inch) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-PC3-10600-Desktop-Upgrade-240-pin/dp/B001NA25VS/ ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1390290563&sr=8-1&keywords=2gb+ram?

Macs are very, VERY picky about the RAM specs they need.
That RAM is the wrong pin count and probably for PCs and not a Mac
Here is the proper RAM spec for your year and model.
32 GB (Actual) 16 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    4 - 204-pin PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).

  • R830 - What kind of RAM do I need

    Hi All,
Toshiba telephone support was unable to help me so I turn to you.
    I have a Portege R830 (Model: PT320C-01J018) which has 4GB of RAM.
I assume this is commonly referred to as Portege R830-01J model? (I hope I'm right otherwise my model number simply does not exist)
I am running 64bit Win7 and would like to add another 4GB, as I wish to run VMWare. However I simply cannot figure out what kind of RAM I need to buy. The technical specs.
    Crucial RAM website says I need DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
    Kingston RAM website says I need DDR3 1333  PC3-10600
An ad on Ebay says I need DDR3 1333  PC3-10600 (same as what Kingston recommends)
I opened up the slot for the RAM but could see no markings that were helpful.
If anyone out there can shed some light on this I'd really appreciate it! Thanks.

    Portege R830 PT320C-01J018
We support US computers at this site. Everything for that Canadian model is here.
According to the spec above, Toshiba offers this RAM.

  • How can I tell which kind of RAM is correct for my iMac G5?

How can I tell what kind of RAM chips are correct for my iMac G5?  It has two slots and can take up to 1 Gb each slot.  I would like to get Newegg chips, and want to make sure I order the correct ones.
Also, do you know a website where I can find out how to install them?

That information is in your computer's user manual.  If you no longer have one then you can download it at support.apple.com/manuals/.  Or you can visit DataMem where they have a Mac chart of which products are needed for different Mac models.

  • What kind of RAM do you use with your K7D Master-L? (esp. unbuff)

I was windering what kind of RAM people sue with their K7D Master-L mobos.  I recently got one with a 512 stick of Mushkiin Level 2 CAS222 RAM however I'm having boot problem. I'm going to test registered RAM soon to see if that is the problem.
Have people had success with unbuffered RAM? I really want to use Mushkin or Corsair XMS RAM for their high performance and overclockability, but if I can't oh well
    -Matt

Use registered. I have used kingston and infineon working fine ( besides some funny things at some point)
Senior people will tell you there isn't any choice...

    Hi Cereskit
Thanks again for the message. I've done the updates and have the App Store on my desktop. I went into it and searched for imovie but couldn't find the basic imovie, which I presume is what I'd need for editing?, rather than imovie 11 for £10.49, which is for making trailers, it seems. Also, were you saying that imovie would be free?

  • What kind if tables are suitable for partitioning?

What kind of tables are suitable for partitioning?
I have several tables in same schema. Each of them is bigger than 200MB. DML commands are executed continuously against these tables. After diagnosis, I know than the sequential read wait is the root cause. Should I partition each of them?

BTW sequential read wait has to do with index scans, not table scans. Table scan waits are reported as scattered reads, not sequential.

  • What kind of glass is used for the iPhone 6?

I want to get a case before we upgrade to the iPhone 6.  Some of the cases we are looking at (Speck Mightyshell) do not come with screen protectors.  I was wondering what kind of glass is used for the iPhone 6 and if a screen protector is even necessary?

The iPhone 6 currently uses Corning’s Gorilla Glass. There was some speculation that they would start using Sapphire glass but I guess they’re not ready yet. I have had my iPad 2 for years now and the glass is still perfectly fine. My new iPhone 6 uses a more developed version of the same glass. Will the glass break? Yes. Will the glass scratch? Yes, if you carry your phone in the same pocket as your car keys, the screen will scratch. It’s not impervious, just highly resistant.
I do have a real life controlled experiment going on in the family. My wife and one son have their iPhone 6s in a case WITH a screen protector. Myself and my other son carry our iPhone 6s around without ANY protection whatsoever, no case and no screen protector. So far they all still look perfectly fine. We’ll se how this experiment turns out.
