What kind of routers do Imacs support?

I just want to know or have an idea because most external routers on the market are supported by windows based pc's.

Hi--
For the most part, iMacs will work with most routers. Most just use an embedded web interface to configure them, so it's mostly a matter of some routers are a bit finicky about working with Safari. I find Firefox or Camino to be really reliable when working with routers and equipment like that.
The other question is: can you update the router's firmware from a Mac? I had a Linksys that you had to use a PC-based program to update. Now, I use a Netgear RP614 router. I don't recall if I've ever updated the firmware, but it just uses a web browser, so it should work from Macs just fine.
For the most part, a router is just a network device, and as long as it works with ethernet or wireless, it should work with a Mac. If you've looked at routers and have questions, post a link to a page featuring the router and there's a good chance someone here might know how well it works with a Mac.

  • What kind of upgrades are my iMac model eligible for?

Hi, I have the same problem and was wondering if someone could walk me through what I need to do to find out what kind of upgrades the iMac model I have is eligible for?
    <Re-Titled By Host>

The model identifier info provided shows what may be a 20-inch or 24-inch, as iMac7.1
These may see an upgrade in RAM so as to facilitate running a system software upgrade:
Maximum Memory   6.0 GB (Actual) 4.0 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots    2 - 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM
Until some time ago there had been a Firmware Update:  iMac EFI Firmware Update 1.3
however, now the link previously available, appears to no longer function.
According to http://mactracker.ca database application, your general iMac7.1 series is
able to run as new a system as Yosemite 10.10; however some users had found that to
be a bit far of a reach for this old a model due to hardware limits of the vintage. If not
already running at least Snow Leopard 10.6.8, you could get & try Mountain Lion 10.8.5
(buy $19. upgrade code, from Apple; that would unlock Mac app download) as Mavericks
10.9.5 is no longer available as an upgrade to older systems. The theory is that if a Mac
could use Mavericks, it should be able to accommodate Yosemite. But, not always.
Some people liked Snow Leopard 10.6.8 - and it is on retail DVD for easy offline restore
or bootable utilities on the same disc - still available from Apple $19. It should run fine
unless you have some need to upgrade further. This system is needed to go to App Store
and other aspects of the newer OS X available from the internet only.
The site http://everymac.com has a fair database of most things Mac, so that in addition
to the download MacTracker app, are good references and hardware example data.
    Hopefully this helped some.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What kind of the ethernet for iMac 27 inches

Hello this is James Lawrence. I wonder to ask you what kind of ethernet for iMac 27" mid 2011  it is like CAT 5E or other?

Cat 5e cables work just fine.  Cat 6 is only needed for true, full gigabit ethernet, which most people don't really need.  If you are transfering large files, music, or video, cat 6 may be worth investing in as the cables are higher priced than cat 5e.  I use cat 5e cables throughout my house and have no problem with my 50 MBS broadband  service on a mid 2011 27" iMac like yours.  The ethernet port will work with 10/100 switches and hubs just as well as 10/100/1000 gigabit units.

    best regard !

You know I have read all the infomation all of you.But I can't understand some think you said due to my poor english, especially to the professional words. In my mind based on https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=23762&sid= the K7T266 Pro2 (MS-6380 v2.0) can support Thoroughbred AthlonXP 2600+ after update Bios, right? But how to do with the hardware of my board? Can you explain more detail of the following modification?
The main thing is the hardware mod, not the bios update. You have to remove C37 to run t-breds - it was explained in the link you gave us:
    Quote
The modification is fairly simple, near the socket you find 3 big caps, near these caps you find a tiny (2x1mm) cap called C37.
It's this C37 that needs to be removed.
Then you must update your bios to original 3.7 (http://www.toenne-online.de/msi/6380v37.exe) or to modded 3.74 (http://www.toenne-online.de/msi/6380v374.exe).
Works fine, done it with my k7t266pro2. Runs great with xp2400.

  • IMac G4 PPC, what kind of memory do I need?

I've looked everywhere, but I haven't found anything that screams "This is clearly the exact thing you need, doofus".
I own an iMac G4 PPC.
    Here are the specs:
      Machine Name:          iMac
      Machine Model:          PowerMac6,1
      CPU Type:          PowerPC G4  (3.3)
      Number Of CPUs:          1
      CPU Speed:          1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU):          256 KB
      Memory:          256 MB
      Bus Speed:          133 MHz
      Boot ROM Version:          4.5.9f1
      Serial Number:          W8******NHX
And if this is important, here:
      System Version:          Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S165)
      Kernel Version:          Darwin 8.11.0
    And this: (Memory)
    DIMM1/J20:
      Size:          256 MB
      Type:          DDR SDRAM
      Speed:          PC2100U-25330
      Status:          OK
(The only other slot is "DIMM0/J22", and all it says is "Empty".  I'm just assuming that's the one I'm trying to get memory for.)
For the past since forever, I've been trying to find some memory I can add to it, because it's showing its age.  I love this computer, and I want to get as much out of it as I can.
The thing is, I can't seem to find the specific type of memory for it anywhere.  And if I have, I sure don't know if it's the right kind.
I need the biggest possible memory I can put in the slot on the bottom, the one that apparently goes in the "DIMM0/J22" slot, which is the only one out of two that says "empty".
I've tried a few sites like Crucial, which have a system scanner to help pinpoint your compatibility, but my system doesn't support that application and refuses to run it.
What kind of memory goes into the user-accessible slot on my machine?
Can someone please help me out?  I'm sick and tired of that beach ball.

  • What kind of Cellphone supports for Web Services in Java Application?

I have developed a software in J2ME integrated with Web Services!
I am wondering what kind of Cellphone (Nokia, Samsung, ...) supported Web Services now?
    Any help is appreciate!

    Hi Shannon,
The type of proxy I'm familiar with is at the http connection level and
associated with the networking properties in the JDK, See:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/net/properties.html
Your question may be related to JWS proxies, See:
    http://edocs.bea.com/workshop/docs81/doc/en/workshop/guide/howdoi/howUseTheJavaProxyForAWebService.html
You may want to ask this question in the workshop newsgroup.
    Hope this helps,

    Hi, all;
I try to find out how the java proxy of web service in weblogic server 8.1
works. Suppose I use the java Proxy of a WebSerice in a client application whatever
whithin or outside the application of the web service, does the proxy actually:
    1. translate my java arguments objects in XML to create SOAP msg,
    2. then send the msg across the network, and web service also response SOAP msg,
    3. then proxy translate it into return value of the method call ?
If that is true , the Java Proxy seems very inefficient, right?
Can any body tell me how the proxy works ?

What kinds of cpu can you put in a 2007 modal imac to bring it to its max
    Thanks

While it CAN be done I don't know if you'll see enough bang for your buck to make it worthwhile. IMO you'll get a better return by installing an SSD and maxing out the ram. That said I don't have any idea which cpu you could swap for.

Have no BD-Burner - but I think I tried to Save as a DiskImage of full movie in BD-Quality
    Roxio says:
    Drag, drop, burn
    Drag, drop, burn
Toast 11 is the easiest and fastest way to burn your music, video, photo and data files on to CD, DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ for both Mac and PC. Archive up to 50 GB on high capacity Blu-ray Discs.
Indicates to me that a full BD-movie could be burned as this.

Hey Luis. I not only remember…I still have mine (OS 9)!  Works perfectly well…for some things; just need to be selective about what I ask it to do. (Also have its big brother Pismo running Tiger, which is still an extremely competent machine.) When I take them out of their cases, I'm still amazed at the G3's build quality.

I have a snall iomega external disk that I love.  I just bought a new iMac and the cord does not fit into the USB on my computer, although it fit fine on my old imac. Not sure if I can replace the cord or if I have to get a new disk.  In the event that a new disk is needed, what kind is most compatible with the new iMac so i will not have to do a lot of reformatting?
